Lowell Superhero Alias: Magus Age: 16 Gender: Male Species: Human Powers: Sorcery Magus is a sorcerer. Able to tap into the mystical energy known as magic which permeates the universe to perform various fantastical feats. By expending energy contained within himself, Magus can cast various magical attacks. Magus' spells and abilities normally manifest as raw magical energy, from magical attacks (bolts, lightning, arcane energy with flame-like characteristics etc) to basic constructs (force-fields and barriers). Telekinesis is also at Magus' disposal, although he struggles to lift more than one object at a time with it. As such, Magus normally uses it to simulate flight by lifting himself instead. Of course, Magus cannot cast spells indefinitely. Magic requires energy provided by the user, and casting too many spells can easily leave Magus exhausted. Certain spells also require incantations, and interrupting the incantations to these spells will nullify the spell. As one can imagine, objects or creatures immune to magic are also a problem for Magus. Abilities: Basic Hand-to-hand Combatant Magus is one of the least physically talented members of the Teen Sentinels, but is still more proficient at hand-to-hand combat than the average person. Occult Knowledge Being an adept magic user, Magus has extensive knowledge of various spells and magical items, and knows how to create potions and perform various magical rituals. Equipment Ars Magiam Magus' tome, known as Ars Magiam, is a magical catalyst that allows him to channel more powerful and complex spells, such as a swirling ball of magical energy, or a greatsword made from magic that slashes before disappearing. Many of the pages in the book are empty, needing to be filled with spells that Magus finds or creates. Losing the book means losing access to the spells. Weaknesses: Only Human Despite having magical prowess, Magus' physiology is still only that of a human. As such, he's just as vulnerable to physical attacks as the average human is. Personality: Magus is a calm and collected individual, preferring to follow the pace of everyone else, rather than setting his own. The young sorcerer makes it a point to be friendly to everyone, save for those he feels deserve otherwise. Villains and criminals often receive sarcastic and snide remarks in the place of friendliness. Magus occasionally throws his sarcastic remarks at his teammates too, normally in good spirits though. Time spend reading books both magic and mundane have made Magus far more knowledgeable and worldly, and he can often impart sound wisdom to other members of the group. Provided they find him on a good day... Still, Magus' almost laid-back personality can prove to be problematic when it means he doesn't do anything. Following the pace of everyone else means he shows little initiative in much beyond crime-fighting and advancing himself in sorcery. Brief Backstory: Magus' history and lineage is one laced with magic and sorcery. Anyone can learn to manipulate magic - the substance that permeates the universe, but some simply have a natural edge at manipulating the arcane. From an early age, Magus has had an affinity for sorcery - as to be expected, given that Magus is a descendant of the legendary Merlin: immortal wizard, scholar, and - when the boy's parents perished through an uncanny accident - the legal guardian of Magus. In fact, Magus' acts of heroism were at the behest of his wizard caretaker, because "that hero stuff is what you young'uns like to do, right?" Arc Ideas: Heh.
