Alright, let's see...

I figured the spiderwebs were basically there to tell us there were spiders. They didn't seem that thick yet (guess I should've asked) so I didn't think we should be too worried about them. I figured the light and wind would be more plotpointy, and that's what I was going for. I dunno about the out of character bit, that's honestly up to you. 

Pretty sure the doors you were referring to are in the hall, as what I got from Hek was that the library was an open door that was in the hall. Maybe that's where you're confused? Your post looked fine enough to me.
