While dragging the Nazi he was forced to to fight off numerous attacks. During one attack he lost his grip on the Nazi he grabbed a gun and shot out both knees.

While he finished shooting several more Nazis the Nazi with out knee caps dragged himself away very slowly. Eventually Wolverine caught back up and finished dragging him back to the others.
