Current date in game: October 3, 2005.
Denver Post 9/3/2005 Disaster Strikes Protectorate! Heroes Under Fire! It's been a rough couple of days for the Protectorate here in Denver. Numerous events have caused the public to question the effectiveness of their guardian heroes as they wonder, "Would we be better off with someone else?" According to eyewitness reports, The Wards have lost their team captain, Sonar, in a brutal battle against local villains The Community. Further, nobody has seen the Ward Martyr since the event, leading to some speculation that the Wards are in fact down by two members. If the treatment of their junior heroes wasn't enough, two high profile Protectorate enforcers, Noble and Captain Morales, were hospitalized after a failed attempt at stopping a prison transport breakout of renown villain Gamble. Nobody knows where Gamble has fled, nor the new villains that sprung him. It appears that both are currently lying low. While these events have led to widespread criticism of the Protectorate and the PRT as a whole, this reporter wishes her heroes a speedy recovery. Minutemen Blog 9/6/2005 Denver's Newest, Hottest Team! Heya folks! G4M3R here, founder and leader of the Minutemen. I just wanted to let you all know that since we kicked the butts of the Rockers, we've been on a very successful recruitment drive! So successful in fact that I won't even need to get into the field myself! Now this isn't corwardly, it's tactical. Every team needs a mission control, right? And it gives me more time to build my tinker tech, which is great for the team to use! But remember, we can only survive on your donations! If we don't have the resources, we might not be able to make it to your emergency in time! So the next time you see an Asian lady jumping through the streets or a giant snake-thing swimming through the air, stop and say hi. Your local Minutemen are here to help! Now endorsed by local favorite, Furnace! The Gazette 9/10/2005 Rise in Violent Crimes For nearly two weeks now, Denver has seen a steady increase in the number of violent crimes reported, as high as a 20% increase, according to the Denver police department. While the majority of these crimes appear to be perpetrated by members of The Community on behalf of their gang leader Patriarch (pictured above), it is interesting to note that a number of these crimes have been reported in which known members of the gang are the victims. It would appear that there is a vigilante group operating outside of normal hero rules. When inquired about it, neither the PRT nor the Minutemen claimed to have any knowledge as to who has been perpetrating these violent crimes that has left 1 Community member dead, and 6 hospitalized. The question everyone is asking now? Is this the fault of the Protectorate for their poor performance recently? Have their failures inspired these violent upstarts? Until we know who these mysterious vigilantes are, there's no knowing for certain. Denver Post 9/13/2005 Protectorate Bolsters Numbers, Everything is Under Control The Protectorate has recently announced that they have recruited two new heroes to their senior lineup. Overlook and Hermes made their official public debut earlier today, to the adoration of many. Still, some continue to criticize the PRT's decisions. One Jonathan Walker went on record with the following statement: "I mean, what's the point of a disabled hero that can't get into the field? I don't want to sound like I'm against people with disabilities, but their best have already proven they can't even stop a simple jailbreak. If we can't have this Overlook in the field, how's he gonna stop the villains?" Even so, most are accepting of the handicapable hero, believing that his advertised power of precognition will be of great assistance. Hermes has been met with less controversial reception. While everyone this reporter interviewed had nothing negative to claim, he was not noted to be particularly popular either. Not so much the newest recruit to the Wards, little Tiger Lily, who has made a huge splash in the online message boards. The young girl is beloved for being "outrageously cute," according to one fan, and "super badass" according to another. It would appear the recipe for success these days is to be a very cute girl that can transform into a dinosaur. Denver Daily News 9/15/2005 Major Blow to Russian Mob Late last evening, Inkscape reminded the people of Denver why he's considered the best hero around. The captain of the local Protectorate team led fellow heroes Protean and Hermes into the lair of the beast, disrupting a tremendous amount of illegal business for the Bratva. Fifteen arrests were made, and multiple cargo containers carrying human beings, the victim of the world slave trade, were located. Known Bratva affiliated villain Sonika made a stand, but eventually fled the scene. It is currently unknown how much stronger of a presence the Russian mob has in Denver, if any, but one thing is for sure: Inkscape dealt them a very crippling blow. The victims of human trafficking are to be returned to their homes and families, and it's all thanks to our favorite octo-hero.

The New Yorker 9/20/2005 Slaughterhouse is Nine Again Citizens across the country live in fear of the Slaughterhouse 9, America’s top parahuman serial killers and number one on the government sanctioned death list. As far as any news media has been able to discern, the Slaughterhouse Nine, led by prolific murderer Jack Slash, has been down a member for a number of months. As of last night that no longer appears to be the case, as the S9 have struck again in the small town of Rockland, Maine. The newest recruit goes by the name “Bonesaw” and appears to be a young girl not even ten years old yet at the time of this writing. However citizens are strongly cautioned not to approach this girl or underestimate her in anyway. According to PRT officials, Bonesaw unleashed a plague in the Rockland water supply which caused the spontaneous growth of blood vessels to the point of bursting, leaving over three thousand dead. Officials are not yet confident enough to provide a full classification of the new villain, but have gone on record stating they believe her powers to somehow function with biology. Minutemen Blog 9/25/2005 Pressing the Reset Button Heya folks! G4M3R here with some exciting news! The efforts to rebuild Minutemen Headquarters are going about as well as you can expect. For any new readers out there, we were attacked by a villain that makes explosions and now we have to pay back the property owner because of some insurance clause loopholes. Asswipes. Anyway, the journey has been difficult. All of my inventions were stolen immediately beforehand, and all the members of my team deserted when they realized that I had signed everything directly in my own name, so they weren’t liable. Ingrates. Anyway, as always your donations keep us going, even if “us” is only “me” right now. Support your local heroes! Denver Post 9/30/2005 Rising Star Dragon People who have kept a close eye on the parahuman scene might have heard a name that is sometimes tossed around behind the scenes: Dragon. According to PRT representatives, Dragon is a tinker that has been associated with them primarily from a distance, providing developments in technology and coding for the most part. She’s also known to manage and operate the Birdcage, which means we all have Dragon to thank for keeping us safe from some of the most dangerous parahumans in history, like Glaistig Uaine, Galvanate, and of course the woman who may be the most prolific serial killer in history, Black Kaze. Since the Endbringer attack on Newfoundland earlier this month, Dragon has been stepping up her presence and is becoming a much more public figure, at least in terms of success stories. She has yet to make an appearance outside of a mech suit, citing “crippling agoraphobia.” The tinker has recently announced her plans to consolidate numerous forums and wikis based on parahumans and the parahuman community into a single website, which she will personally run. Parahumans Online is expected to launch tomorrow.

[Topic] Warehouse Fire - Page 3 GandiLikeFromIndia: WHy did the warehosue expolde??? Was it Messiah?! Did she burn it all??????? TruBeleever: A REAL American wudnt pretend tobe the JESUS of Denver, only THRU GOD can we get to the reel meet of our fafe. I WILL KILL FAKE JESUS IF SHE DUSNT RESINE INSTANTLY! litehartdarkman: I was in the area and I heard a dinosaur or somethin, what the he'll was goin on there?!?!?! litehartdarkman: *hell Messiah (Verified Cape): No worries, folks! There was a battle at the warehouse between the Denver Wards and a villain group called the Jacks, but fortunately, nobody was seriously injured. We're doing our best to ensure they're put in custody, so no need to panic - we'll keep you safe! litehartdarkman: but what about the dinosaur!?!?!?!?! was that one of the Jacks?!?!?!?! do I have to worry about being eaten on my way to work lol DinoFan4Eva: Git bnt trll, evy1 knows dats Tigerlily. Bst Ward. Tiger Lily (Verified Cape): Yes, that was me. You don't need to worry, I don't eat people. No, I am not the best Ward, that goes to another, but thank you. <3 litehartdarkman: oh neet. I didn know we had a ward who could turn into a dino litehartdarkman: nice TheMargrave (Verified Cape): My most gracious thanks, esteemed companion Tiger Lily, for deferring the title of best to its rightful recipient! Your altruism truly knows no bounds! [Topic] Wards Activity?? LoliDragon: anyone know what happened? Tiger Lily been absent, and they've not been patrolling the same. TryingToFly: sumthin w/ station fire prolly tarp: bet they got curfewed LoliDragon: but why?? tarp: cause kids shouldnt be fighting and in dnager to begin with Farticus: They heroes too. Capes. The PRT always handle Wards right before, why change now? Denver_Lights: maybe they overstepped a line? LoliDragon: just want to see them all patrol again Tiger Lily (Verified Cape): Don't worry, everything's going great for us. We've been training, is all, and will be back soon. <3 [Topic] Patriarch In Control??? - Page 8 FishesWishes: Look, there's no evidence that the leak is real facts. TropicalDream: And nothing says it's fake Dropbin36: wat if hes took all denver slowblowke: like, if its fake, it isnt fake news that patrichs would leak himself, hed want peoples to think he had the most harmless powah eveh, not one thatd make him instantly be thrown in the birdcage and make people instantly look for his spies XD FishesWishes: Exactly! It's dangerous to think it can't be true! HallowedQueen: So we're just going to sink to their level and not ask for evidence? Tweek: capes r dumb n this is y slowblowke: well obviously were not gonna just assume all thats said on the internet is true, but the posts looked genuine enough, from some person in distress. given patrichs spread, it sounds totally plausible to me. but if patrichs wants to disprove it, all he has to do is appear and give a demonstration of his real power so we can all rest easy~ XD till then, id remain cautious, at any rate Surviv0r: Screw this cty, I’m not taking the chance. Gonna leave for Georgia. Who knows if Patriarch has gotten all the heroes? Would explain how he’s survived so long with such a bit organization. [Topic] New Capes! - Page 2 Earworm: THERE'S A DRAGON LADY?!?! Haxstar: I'm more interested in this tar vigilante… tuxman: But what's with all these new Capes? Why come with the rumors on Patriarch? mASTAR (Verified Cape) It’s merely a coincidence, sweetheart. Nothing to worry your little head about~. Surviv0r: That’s exctly what a pawn of Patriarch would say! I’m gettn my ass outta town. EyesOnTheSky: What about that angel cape that showed up? She saved me from falling off my office building when I was drunk. Helped me see life in a new light. She must have been sent as God’s Messenger! Priase the Lord! Pepsi>Coke: Put your Bible away and get back to work, Johnson. [Topic]Denver: New Gang? - Page 1 litehartdarkman: i been hearing a lot about these new guys around, first they broke out gamble from prison, now i hear they were responsible for that warehouse burning down a few days ago. who are these guys, they sound kinda dangerous. Sunnyday: I know that one of them is pretty active on the forums, Heartless seems like a real edgelord. Outside of that he's been pretty friendly though, not what I expected from a hardened criminal. Operator: Yeah I've been following his activity on the forum, he's namedropped some of his teammates. We got Thunderbolt and Headhunter, but I think there are more? Not sure. Heartless: lol Thunderbolt: Double lol [Topic]Denver: Salvageable? Page 1 Dogmatic: the Community is mind controlling big names, big people. The Rockers and the mafia still around. A train warehouse burned down. The Minutemen are busted. A dragon lady has shown up, along with a bunch of other unknowns (who wanna bet Pat goes after them??). There's that villain group that took out of commission a bujnch of PRT soldiers and two Protectorate Capes for a few weeks... Is it worth staying here anymore? Can the heroes step up and make a difference anymore? Inkscape (Verified Cape): We are sorry to see that the Minutemen have ended up in such a bad way, but please do not inflate the issue. Noble and Captain Morales are returning to active duty as of tomorrow, and the Protectorate has gone on a new recruitment drive. You mentioned a “dragon lady” and I am proud to say that Sylph is the newest member of your peace keeping force, and a reckoning in her own right. Organized parahuman crime in Denver won’t last much longer, whether it be the Community, the mafia, the Jacks, or anyone else. Keep a lookout for my art in the future. ;) DorkLord: Dargons scr me lul Dogmatic: So what are you gonna do about the Community mind controlling people? How do we know you haven’t already been compromised? Inkscape (Verified Cape): Even though these rumors and allegations as to what Patriarch is capable of (and I do want to stress they are rumors, unfounded and without any evidence or credible testimony) we have engaged what is known as “master protocols” for some time now. Standard strategies to avoid and detect influence from master-class parahumans. Rest assured that Patriarch and his “Community” are the number one priority they have always been. Furnace (Verified Cape): And don’t forget that outside of the Protectorate Denver has a thriving community of heroes. I’ll be doing my part too. H@wttGur1: OMG IT’S FURNACE!!!!!!11!! Let me PM u my digits! JonesMalones: Well back on the actual topic, I appreciate that we have a number of heroes working around the clock, but Furnace and others like him have got to understand that they don’t have the resources or communication to make the biggest impact they could. Dude, you should join the Protectorate. Furnace ( Verified Cape): I appreciate your sentiment, but I have gone on record a number of times as to the reasons why I remain independent. I respect the PRT, but they aren’t for me. Besides, I like to work more street level, which is why I keep bringing in more Community thugs every day. Dogmatic: you can step on ants all day, it won’t change how vastly outnumbered we all are. Gotta go for the snake’s head. Gotta go for Pat. SkinniBikini: Did you just mix an ant and snake metaphor together? Thunderbolt: I would've gone with fishes and hornet's nests, but aight. Just gonna add that the Big P must be pretty crazy to keep rolling. Begging for a Kill Order if he's mind fucking everyone. [Topic]Wards Public Appearance? Page 6 Denver_Lights: can’t believe we’re finally seeing the Wards again! Already got my ticket, anybody else going? DorkLord: Nt me lul SunnyDay: It’s a pretty big event. The Wards are making their first appearance in public for almost three weeks, a bunch of the Protectorate will be there, even some of the independent heroes like Furnace and G4M3R. H@ttGur1: Wt FURNACE wll b ther? OMG!!!!11!! tuxman: I don’t see why they’re wasting time with this fundraising event. Photo ops with the public, speeches, fancy food? It’s like glitz and glam Hollywood when they should be focusing on finding that mind raper. And at the Denver Performing Arts Theater? Why there? Messiah (Verified Cape): Ladies and gentlemen, rest assured, we're as excited to come back into the limelight as you guys are to see us again! It's been tough for us to keep on the down-low, but to my knowledge, our usual patrol schedules and mission engagements will be back to normal after this appearance, so stay tuned! tuxman: Doesn’t really answer my question… Tiger Lily (Verified Cape): Not all questions need answers… We want to do our best to help everyone. There's still no proof about the mind control, like Inkscape has said a lot around the board. We need to trust that the PRT and heroes are doing everything possible to help, and that this is all part of the bigger picture. I know I do. <3 Visage (Verified Cape): I'm disappointed that we aren't seeing this situation taken more seriously. I feel like your forcing a lot of people's hands by not setting up a coordinated strike against Patriarch. You're certainly forcing mine.

[Topic] A Message From The Jacks (page 1) Thunderbolt (Verified Cape): Hello, good people of Denver! I'm here to make an official announcement for the Jacks! For too long this city has been a cesspool for the horribleness that is the Community. For too long the Protectorate and the police and the PRT have let Patriarch and his 'family' run rampant. With the new information that he's brainwashing the masses.... The Jacks, and various 'villains' throughout the city, have come to an agreement that the Community must be stopped. In the coming weeks we will start cleaning up this city. The Jacks will do what the so called heroes have failed to do for so long. BadgesRHeroes2: Please. You expect any of us to rise up and support you scum? We all know you were at that Community warehouse fire that nearly killed the Wards. You released a dangerous villain from prison transport too! My cousin was one of the soldiers you assholes hurt! Like I’d ever believe this change of heart. PwrRngrsFan1121!!1: At least someone wnts 2 do smting about teh mind ctrl. I’m tired of nt trsting my naybers. tarp: if theres really any mind control. Still hasn’t been proven. But hey, I’d rather bad guys kill each other instead of sending the kids to do it. *shrug* Thunderbolt (Verified Cape): I come with good news to follow up my report above, Denver. We, the Jacks, have Xolotl in custody and under our tender care. The Community's greatest enforcer.... Has been removed from the game. SkyWatcher: No way!!!! He put my dad in the hospital! Rly?!?! tarp: if true, this is a great win. Thx bro. BadgesRHeroes2: Yeah, riiiight. And we’re supposed to just take your word for it? As the internet saying goes, pics or it didn’t happen. And just to be clear, even if it DID happen, your still scum. Thunderbolt (Verified Cape): Don’t say we never did anything for you. tarp: Sweet. If I knew who you were, I’d buy a drink for you. Totally deserve it, bro. SkyWatcher: OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG YES Pepsi>Coke: Dear god. Can someone get this picture verified, please? I swear if this is a prank… Xolotl (Verified Cape): Fascinating how the little men find entertainment in mocking the power of a god. Pray tell, worms, if that is me, then who has just burned out the Littleton east substation? [Topic]Gang War? (page 1) BigBrotherMentor: Look, I don’t want to be an alarmist, but I’ve been living in Denver for 29 years and I’ve never seen things this bad. There’s signs all around us that all the big gangs are getting ready to make some pretty big moves on the Community, and they’re not exactly being quiet either. The mafia has kicked the Community out of at least three neighborhoods they owned before. The Jacks have made a public declaration of war on them. The internet is even popping up with all these anti-Community videos from some wackjob covered in burnscars. Hell, even the freaking Rockers, who seem to be under new management, are making their plays against the Community. And when’s the last time anybody has seen Limbo flying around? Been a good while, I’d say. If she was arrested there’d be some hooplah about it on the news, but nothing. Nada. Silence. Know what I think? I think one of the other groups whacked her. And that means the Community isn’t going to take this all lying down, know what I’m saying? Everyone better bolt their doors and stay inside for a while, stock up on food and supplies. It’s gonna be a bloodbath out in the streets. I’ve just got that feeling. DawnGuard: About f’in time everyone took screws to those clowns. Srsly, Patriarch has dominated this city for too long, and what have the Protectorate done about it? A few minor hits here and there, but nothing that actually f’in matters, y’know? Everyone coordinates, and I’m sure that mind controlling asshole will be out of the picture in a heartbeat. No problems for us normal folk. PirateKing: Love the optimism, but I’ve been in law enforcement for over 40 years and I’m sorry to say that’s just not how it ever works out. Even if Patriarch is taken down with minimal collateral damage, the power vacuum will open the floodgates for all the other villains to duke it out for the top spot. Much as I hate to say it, Patriarch does keep all the criminal element unified, which prevents bigger problems for the rest of us. slurrrrrm (Banned): lul villain sympathizer. Go fk urself fggt Angel_of_Justice (Mod): I’m letting you off with a warning this time, but next time I won’t be so kind. Hateful speech and flaming will result in your account being banned, slurrrrrm. FishesWishes: Know what I heard? There’s a new player pulling the strings in all this, and nobody knows his name. Creepy, huh? Slurrrrrrm (Banned): fkn watch less movies, stpd bitch [Topic] Exchange a Ward?! (page 3) SunnyDay: I don’t know, it’s not that I don’t LIKE Mastar, she’s fine and all, but I enjoyed Epsilon, y’know? It’s like, what, do they have a hard limit on how many Wards are allowed to be stationed here at once? It can never go above five? Come on, seems like a totally arbitrary rule, and pretty dumb. JonesMalones: Obviously that’s not a real rule. You people are theorizing too much on why Epsilon transferred out when we just don’t know anything. Maybe another Ward made her uncomfortable? Maybe her parents were moving states? We just don’t know these things. Whatever it is, respect Epsilon’s decision. Blaming Mastar is pretty dumb, IMO. Haxstar: Mastar is the SH!T! I’m stoked that she joined the Wards, dude! Mad hype! SkinniBikini: Wait, Mastar is in the Wards now? So she’s a kid? Oh. Well time to purge my fanfic novels. DinoFan4Eva:y u no tlk abt TigerLily?!?!?!11?! [Topic] Rockers Under New Management? (page 6) Farticus: Look, all I’m saying is that it’s been ten days since Ceramix and Shatterpoint were arrested, but the Rockers haven’t slowed down at all. Obviously you can’t be this coordinated without some form of leadership, whether it’s another parahuman, or an old school thug. Someone has to be pulling the reins here. ConspiracyTheorist: My various contacts have led me to believe that their new leader is definitely a parahuman, but a paranoid secretive one called Creep. Don’t ask me how I know. The less you get involved, the less danger you’ll be in. Operator: Not just that, I heard they got more parahumans too. I guess after the big dogs got caged, an outside group swooped in and took over? I work at the geological research center and I’ve been getting recent reports of some really weird readings near known Rocker neighborhoods. Like, the kind of readings you normally expect to see in the earth’s mantle, like magma. H@wttGur1: OMG u didt tink mebbe its Furnace?? Gawd how dumb ru? Operator: Ignoring the obvious flaming, Furnace has been strangely quiet lately. The public hasn’t seen him around much, so I don’t think it’s him. Besides, these readings aren’t consistent with how he’s used his powers before, unless he’s letting off way more heat than ever before. Visage (Verified Cape): You guys are so intrigued by the smoke, I just can't wait until you see the fire BennyHill: Wut? o.o Dogmatic: Y’all are missing how there’s been a bunch of pro-Rocker’s posts popping up lately. They think getting an online presence will get them more respect or something. Losers. [Topic] Declaration of War [Topic Locked] Eyeblight (Verified Cape): Greetings you disgusting masses of persecution and filth. It has come to our attention that there are those of you out there with violent tendencies toward our family. Like the Hatfields and McCoys of old, this shall not stand. As of today, those of you who dare to attack our own will be dealt with swiftly… And painfully. I have remained silent as I have witnessed these horrid slanderous accusations that Patriarch brainwashes or mind controls us. This will not stand. He is a glorious and fair father. Now my brothers and sisters are being gunned down in the streets, and I will remain silent no more! You attack what you do not understand! You fear to look upon it because we are the failures of your society, what you choose to ignore about yourselves! Well, Denver… Look at me now! Look and tremble! Look beneath your beds and within your closets, for you might find me there! Now piss yourselves and die!
