Roleplay Title: Hold my Flower Setting 08/03/1145 Character's involved Valentine Mancini " Damn it, damn it, how could I have been so ignorant?" Valentine muttered darkly, biting down on his thumb in thought. Things at the office had been so busy lately that he hadn't noticed the date pass by until it was too late. His assistant had failed to remind him ((even though it was written down on the CALENDAR!)) and now he was left with two choices. The first was to own up and face his mistake head on like he normally would, and the second was to just ignore it and pretend that he didn't notice what day it was. But it wasn't in Valentine's nature to back down from something, which only left him with the first option. He pulled out his desk drawer to remove the neatly wrapped box that had been inside and placed it on top of the desk. It sat there, mocking him, reminding him of his foolishness even more that he wanted to put it back in the drawer and walk away from it all. But he wasn't going to do that. He didn't go through the trouble of spending his money and wasting his time wrapping the damn thing just to let it gather dust in his desk. But before he could do anything, there was a knock on his door and Kyron's head popped in to ask him a question. Ah, perfect, now or never. Valentine finalized and waved him in, completely ignoring the question, " Come in, I was about to call for you." He waited for Kyron to enter the room before wordlessly sliding the box towards his Protector. After a beat of silence, Valentine explained, " It came to my attention that Kyrie's birthday has passed. I would appreciate it if you would pass that on to her along with my...apologies for the belated gift." He murmured, looking away from Kyron to hide his discomfort. He wasn't used to apologizing for his actions, or for anything at all really, but just imagining Kyrie's hurt face when she had realized that he had forgot her birthday would haunt him for the rest of the month if he didn't right his wrong. " Take the rest of the day off, spend it with your daughter. You're dismissed," Valentine said, straightening up to arrange the papers on his desk. He said his goodbyes to Kyron as he walked out the door and after he heard the door shut, he relaxed back into his chair and let out a sigh of relief. He could rest easy now that he knew Kyrie wasn't going to be disappointed with him and he could get back to doing his paperwork. Absentmindedly, he turned to tell Kyron to get him a hot cup of tea until he realized he was the only one in the office and rolled his eyes. " I guess I'll get it myself then," He snidely remarked to himself and got up from his chair to head to the tea pot. But he couldn't keep the smile off of his face when the thought about Kyrie opening her gift to find the present that he had spent two paychecks on. Afterall, he had to spend his money on something, or rather someone, right?
