[@erode]Though it is heavily implied that your characters [i]had[/i] pasts, it is not necessary to delve into them to build the character. The whole past thing is set up in a way for you to decide how to use. I always encourage freedom and choice, that way it allows for a truly unique experience. If you want to make digging it back up a big emotional point in your character than feel free to do so. If you wish to have them embrace this clean slate, you can as well. You can even do both.

In the end, it's just another option for character building. I hope that helps.
