Fair point, however, the difference between the two words are quite large. One denotes a race, and the other, a a misappropriated race and a culture. There are TV shows that have the word gypsy in it. I’d be hard pressed to believe that there are shows that have the other word. 

But either way, this is an discussion that doesn’t come up too often, and I decided to give my input.
