I quite agree! I think a druid or barbarian would work wonderfully. A barbarian would seek the opportunity to travel to a new continent as a challenge or adventure, and I am sure a druid would find interest in seeking new forests and natural remedies. However you wish to conceptualize, I think either would work great!
