[indent][i]Before being involved in the fatal train accident that would cost his life, Naoki Murata was a well-to-do engineering student at Kyoto University. He came from a relatively middle-class family, being the only child of an overworked salaryman father and a home-making mother. He participated in multiple clubs in school, excelling well in track and field and becoming vice-president of the science club at his high school. Naoki's major interest was in mechanical engines, and his desire was to design new kinds of electrical engines for various modes of transport. His greatest dream was to create a completely electric airplane. 

For personality, Naoki is affable, albeit a bit unassuming. He is extremely conflict-avoidant and tends to shirk away from overbearing people. His best idea for resolving the tension between multiple people is to simply buy a nice bottle of whiskey and have everyone enjoy drinking together. He has never been in a fight before, and the idea of hurting another person causes him to freeze in anxiety.
