Individualist in the extreme, which puts me in awkward political circles (like the Christian fundie camp and the pro-choice/marriage-equality camps, simultaneously, which earns me all kinds of friends). At the same time I do have a certain respect for the reality of authority -- I'm not an anarchist by any stretch, or even a libertarian really, in fact I sort of like the idea of an American empire, if I'm being honest. Long story short I don't fit in well at rallies. I'm an American with a major blind-spot for state and local elections (military moves do that to you, as does 'being anything but democrat and having New York residency').So I really only pay attention to federal stuff, where, since I put such an emphasis on individuals over the State, I tend to land Republican (the American left is full of statists). I despise judicial activism.... hell, I despise *most* activism, but especially the kind that dresses in robes and bangs hammers and graces the unwashed masses with its wisdom. I read CNN and listen to Rush and make up my own mind.
[*]Abortion -- I'll vote for the person who won't veto a pro-life bill; campaigning on certain restrictions and/or expansions of abortion rights loses my vote[/*] [*]Bureaucracy -- Can only be solved with more bureaucracy, which can only be solved with more bureaucracy, which can only be solved with more bureaucracy, which can only be solved with more bureaucracy, which can only be solved with more bureaucracy, which.........[/*] [*]Currency/Fiscal -- The fact that our entire economy can be tanked at the suggestion of a government shutdown is indicative of how ridiculously over-involved the feds have become in our entire economy. Cut. Back. [/*] [*]Defense -- it's America's biggest national export, and blindly cutting it (as politicians do) is suicidal. [/*] [*]Environmental -- Separation of church and state should really apply to this category as well.[/*] [*]Foreign policy -- Soft empires are fantastic for everybody involved; global hegemony is great for human life expectancy.[/*] [*]Government, Role Of -- fucking shrink it, jesus.[/*] [*]Healthcare -- The idea that people with pre-existing conditions need insurance is sort of like the notion that cars with pre-existing theft need an alarm system. [/*] [*]Immigration -- Love it, love everything about it. Except that the liberals promised illegals all kinds of free shit, and now conservatives are somehow bad for saying we can't afford both. Cut the government programs and open the borders, let come what may.[/*] [*]J-slash-bonus-I: Income Inequality -- We should totally let the government tackle this problem, I mean, just look how well they did with everything else.[/*] [*]Korea, North -- When you read the history books in fifty years (if they're still printing those as books..... why....) we'll learn that Kim Jong Il's apparent-lunacy prevented WW3.[/*] [*]Look I can't keep doing letters, this is hard off the top of my head. If you have more letters and you feel like asking (can't imagine why you would do a thing so foolish as that), I'll edit them in and add to the list[/*] ellipsis [*]Taxes -- moderately progressive tax rate is fine, I get it, the analysis says that's actually closer to 'everyone pay equal' than a flat tax. I have a real problem with people voting for a government to which they pay nothing, and requesting more money. Fuck. That. Noise.[/*]
If I coded that right on the first try I deserve a fucking medal.
