I suddenly realized what I should call my animists, and it is a two fold solution. In the south they are called Heralds, for they are those that name spirits, announcing their intent and displeasure. Kings and Dukes adopted the term out of a sense of self importance. They differ from priests in the fact that they can actually see their gods and spirits. Priests merely serve, they don't negotiate. In the north, the Skalds serve the same function, but in addition to announcing the intent of gods they also placate their harsher gods with song and poetry instead of mere kowtowing.
