I'm pretty far out in the left wing of things based on my ideals of how things should work, but I'm also a realist so I tend to be more moderate in practice. Then again, my moderate left stance is seen in the heavily right-leaning United States as still being extremely left wing, so there's that. As an example of what I mean about ideals versus realism, I'm all for the idea of jacking up taxes on the rich and the corporations to fund the socialization of basic necessities of life so that all Americans are provided food and water and shelter and health care and so on at no charge to those who cannot afford it (as the Marxist quote goes, "from each according to his ability, to each according to his need"), but I'm well aware that this will never happen in this country because my head is not in the clouds so I simply support entitlement programs and removing tax loopholes on the rich and so forth. My realism tempers my ideals into reasonable and logical positions given the context of how the world actually is, so I don't vote for fringe third parties unless the main ticket candidates are such garbage that I feel like throwing my vote away rather than giving it to one of them, which is what I did for the 2012 presidential election. My ideals being so far left just means that if I were to somehow gain utter authority and dominion over the US (or any other country), things would get very socialist very quickly. :hehe
I feel like being brave and posting my political compass results from a couple weeks ago.
Oh hey, that looks familiar. Here's mine, just retook the test because I couldn't find where I saved the image from last time I took it and got pretty much the same result.
