Scars and disfigurements, being fairly common among demon hunters, didn't freak Kaida out, but she hoped it didn't hurt. Still, she wouldn't comment, given Rika's obvious self-consciousness as she hastily shoved her hand into her pocket.

Emi sat slumped at the desk with an uncharacteristic blank stare, as if realising the chance she'd missed, before snapping back to reality and lecturing Kaeru about paperwork.
