(“I’m an out of sight out of mind abuser.”) [*]Ji-Su’s family frequently travels, most often to Korea but going to other countries and parts of the world as well. It was during winter trips to ski resorts that Ji-Su learned she loved snowboarding. It was also during these same winter trips that her mother started thinking Ji-Su was acting too much like a boy. Her father, however, was delighted to have someone else in the house who liked baseball. (“Five daughters. The law of probability dictates that at least one of us was going to be a tomboy.”) [*]By the time she reached high school, Ji-Su had more or less accepted her role as the hidden middle child. At times it was a bit sad to not have her mother care about her, but she’d found hobbies and things she enjoyed. (“I like doing art. And eating. Eating is good.”) [*]Ji-Su was a strong student in the classes that helped with the things she liked. It only made sense that she excelled in woodshop, since she needed to build ramps for herself to skateboard — the most reasonable way to practice snowboarding in the heat of Florida’s climate. (“Florida is essentially a monument to man’s arrogance.”) [*]Over winter break of her sophomore year, Ji-Su officially went pro as a snowboarder, accepting several sponsorships and winning her fist big competition. (“You’d think it’s a bigger deal than it really is because of movies and stuff, but they just gave me some free boards and boots and I put their logo on the bottom.”) [*]The winter after graduating high school, Ji-Su participated in the winter Olympics representing America at age 18. She wanted to the year before, but her mother refused to allow it. (“I don’t talk to her anymore because of it. I got silver, but I would have won, but I missed a year and barely knew what the competition was like! Totally not fair.”) [*]Ji-Su would win gold at all three events she participated in the next year at 19, infamously giving an interview after her Big Air performance, where she claimed that she was late because she slept in late (which was true) and needed breakfast (which was less true, and anyone watching the interview could tell by looking at her eyes that breakfast had been a blunt), before eating a Kit-Kat. (“Haven’t had a Kit-Kat since. It won’t taste as good.”) [*]Since then Ji-Su hasn’t participated in the winter Olympics again, solely because no one pays you more if you win the same shit twice. They barely paid her more after she won three events! Instead, Ji-Su bought a ski resort in Colorado, where she resides and manages and coaches her own professional team. (“Go ace!”) [*]Ji-Su has, however, participated in the X-Games. She won gold three times in skateboarding events, where she got more heat from fans for calling it ‘lightweight.’ (“In my defense, it is easier than snowboarding!”) [*]Ji-Su ultimately decided to go to this reunion when she looked through her high school yearbook and remembered how many cute girls she went to school with. (“Finding true love on a cruise sounds… romantic? I guess?”)
