Welcome to Pokémon Journeys.

This will be a group RP for 3-6 players set in an AU of the Pokémon universe loosely based on the Pokémon Adventure manga and mainline games of Gen. I. This is set in Kanto, after the events of the first game/chapter of the story. An unassuming rookie trainer named Red defeated and exposed Giovanni as the leader of Team Rocket, a Pokémon-poaching terrorist organization before going missing. An unregistered trainer going by the pseudonym: Green, compiled a series of pictures exposing Giovanni's accomplices within the Pokémon League: Lt. Surge, Koga, Sabrina & Prof. Blaine, all now considered fugitives at large by Interpol, and Prof. Oak's young grandson has stepped up last minute as the new Viridian City Gym Leader. Widespread protests through the autumn saw the coming season for Pokémon Journeys in 1999 put in doubt, but well-financed appeasement missions by representatives of the Pokémon League throughout the winter has seen most discontentment mollified. You are an up-and-coming Pokémon trainer, all of 11-12 years old, and you have received a scholarship to begin your Journey from Prof. Oak's prestigious lab in Pallet Town! Congratulations! This RP will be episodic. I'm putting this RP under the casual category because I'm expecting 2-3 paragraph posts as a means to allow you to post multiple times per week. My outline for this game is set for thirty (30!) chapters, and I want to advance at a rate of one chapter per week so that this doesn't get dragged out over a year; this means you should be willing to post 1-3 times per week, please! All players are expected to advance in your Pokémon Journey at comparable rates (regardless of whether or how often you team up or not) and each week will open a new area for your characters to explore. There will be twelve (12) Gym Badges available so don't fret if you haven't beaten a particular Gym Leader; you can always Fly back to their Gym once we're far along in the story! Furthermore, you will only need six (6) Gym Badges to access the Pokémon League Final Tournament (though it will be more difficult to advance to the finals if you have less Badges). There will also be Contest Halls, but this is Kanto and the public likes their good ol' fashioned Pokémon battling. Prof. Oak owns six Pokémon that he's offering as Starter Pokémon. These are: Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Pikachu, Clefairy & Jigglypuff. Take your pick in character creation! ---
Character Creation:
Let's go ahead and create Pokémon Trainers based on the following Character Sheet:

Name: Age: Pronouns: Appearance: (give me a description, not a face claim; one paragraph should suffice), Background: (tell me about your character's life so far, focus particularly on school life, after school activities, and home life and give me a good idea of their personality; again, one paragraph only) First choice: (first choice Starter) Key Item: (pick a single Key Item; it may be something from the games or something original) Wishlist: (expect the Gen I and some Gen II classics to show up in-game, but feel free to write in any Pokémon you specially want to come across)

After, you will set your Pokémon Party as part of your CS once you've confirmed your Starter as follows:

Pokémon Species: Nickname: Gender: Level: (your Pokémon's level increases by 1 every time they are involved in a fight or help you escape a perilous situation; levels are capped by the amount of badges/ribbons you've earned) Nature: Ability: (select one available to your Pokémon) Moves: (select six moves naturally available to your Pokémon per their level; your Starter may have a single Egg move and starts at level 5).

--- As alluded to in the Pokémon Party hider, we will be keeping track of Pokémon levels for our partners' advancement. Your Starter will begin play at level 5 and the GM will roll to determine the level of any wild Pokémon caught. Players will be in charge of keeping track of their own Pokémon's levels. A Pokémon's level increases by 1 every time they are involved in a fight or help you escape a perilous situation; levels are capped by the amount of badges/ribbons you've earned according to the following table:

Sum of Gym Badges & Contest Ribbons vs Level Cap 0 => 10 1 => 14 2 => 18 3 => 22 4 => 26 5 => 30 6 => 34 7 => 38 8 => 42 9 => 46 10 => 50 11 => 54 12 => 58 13 => 62 14 => 66 15 => 70 16 => 76
