There were more of them than she had expected, even in her crazed-addled state she felt somewhat intimidated. To cover this she simply folded her arms and remained silent, glancing around in what she imagined was a cool yet relaxed manner. She couldn’t help but subtly smirk as Chres added again to the lies he was telling about her. Of course she appreciated his effort to get the others to trust her but she couldn’t help but feel this house of cards would crash down sooner rather than later. The hairs on the back of Nia's neck rose mere moments before the unnatural screech broke out. She pushed off from the wall and turned to face the sound as the strange semi-human creatures began to emerge. Her hand sought out the blindfold, Chres was speaking but she missed whatever it was and then a creature leapt for her. Without time to draw her weapon the creature crashed into her, knocking them both to the floor in a bundle of tangled limbs. An involuntary scream of surprise and fear escaped her mouth as the unnatural face, mouth crammed with too many teeth, snapped at her from only inches away. Gritting her teeth, Nia conjured up a delusion of herself moving aside to draw the things attention. It was then she realized what Chres must have been saying before. They needed the keys! With the creature momentarily distracted with her fake, she rose to her feet and looked around. A vase thrown by Jen crashed into the tangle of limbs. Several of the thing’s heads looked to Jen before letting out a screech. The screech seemed to drive the monstrosity, with limbs like a spider, causing it to leap at Jen. Satisfied, the tangle of limbs returned to going after the fake. The room had changed. Where moments before Chres and his companions had stood she now saw only twisted creatures, mouths agape and lurching unnaturally. She took a step back as the walls loomed over, closing in! “Chres!” She called out in alarm, looking frantically. Her mind wheeled in panic. What was happening? Where had they gone? She closed her eyes and held her head. Just then a vague thought occurred to her. Like a single loose thread it dangled before her. She desperately sought through the day so far. How many times had she used her powers in such a short time? What did that even mean again? It was bad to use her powers for some reason but why? Questions she was sure should make sense within a context she couldn’t grasp. Her breathing quickened and she almost lost herself. Chres drew in a breath, the creature seemed distracted by nothing that Chres could see. Had Nia used her powers again? He shook his head. ”Nia!” He cried out. ”The keys!” Another screech. Yet again, the horror refocused its attention. Seemingly having figured out it was chasing a fake. It lumbered towards Nia. A jumble of arms and legs splayed out in a confusing mess, yet somehow still working together to propel itself forward. Chres cursed. Hatchet in hand, he sprinted behind the thing and dug the hatchet down into its backside. The thing screamed and swept around, catching Chres in the chest. He grunted as he was tossed backwards. Groaning, he looked up. Senses. How was one supposed to fight something like this? Without his abilities he felt so vulnerable. He then hesitated for a second. That’s right the bracelet was flawed. He wasn’t entirely without abilities! Chres rose to his feet, teeth gritted as the creature loomed down on him. Keys. The keys for the bracelets. She took a breath and tried to ground herself. With shaking hands she found her blindfold and pulled it over her eyes. A series of subtle clicks left her as she scanned the room with echolocation. The closing walls had ceased and where once there had been a room of monstrosities, some were now more humanoid than before. She found what she thought was Chres locked in combat with the thing from before. As the creature lurched back towards Nia, Chres threw his hatchet, splitting one of the creature’s heads. The creature screamed out as a few of it’s limbs went limp. The sight made Chres tilt his head. Curious. An idea occurred to him as he dashed towards the thing and leapt on top of it. Climbing up it’s back, he threw his hand down and, with extreme effort, he forced his abilities to trickle through. A foot long dull glowing needle Shaped into his hand, which he slammed through another of the creatures heads. The construct Chres shaped, shattered immediately. It seemed he wasn’t able to maintain the construct’s shape for very long at all. Fortunately his attack seemed effective. Two more limbs went limp. Nia frantically searched the room, avoiding the monstrosities as she worked. She had a vague idea of where the keys were kept but in the chaos in both her mind and the room made things more complicated. On more than one occasion, her own delusions effected even her echolocation. Chres raised his hand for another attack, but was stopped when one of the creature’s hands caught his own arm. Thinking quickly, Chres yanked his hatchet free, out of one of the dead heads, and hacked his arm free. The attempt to free himself proven to be futile though, as several other of the things hand shot towards. He dodged one, ducked below another but got snatched by a third. Seconds later, he found himself getting flung across the room. Tumbling through the air, he felt nothing but panic as he caught glimpse of the floor closing in. Fortunately, the Nashep-Natjier had taken notice of Chres’s plight, and quick altered his point of impact into something softer than wood. Chres landed with minimal damage. But now he was a good distance away from the tangle of limbs. Once again the creature bonded towards Nia. ”Nia! Behind you!” Chres shouted.
