Name: Colin "Trigger" Bennett Alias: Trigger Appearance: Trigger stands at 5 foot 11 and has a lean, boxers physique. He takes great pride in his appearance, whether it be what he looks like physically or the clothes he wears. He has naturally curly brown hair, but slicks this back, leaving only the ends curling out. He couples this with a well kept moustache with a small patch of hair just under his bottom lip. Taking note from his mentor, he doesn't have a superhero costume so much as a few suits tailored to allow him ease of movement in a fight. Trigger traded out the trench coat for one of his many vices though, jewellery. He often wears a necklace or a cuban chain even when on mission. One of his ears is also pierced and he can't remember the last time he took the earring out. He does not, however, wear rings on missions, specifically after a time he punched an opponent while wearing one and promptly broke his own finger. Age: 24 Gender: Male Race: Human (Demon blood) Alignment: Neutral, but closer to Hero than Villain Mentor: John Constantine Skills/Meta Abilities: Trigger possesses an innate connection to magic owing to his magical lineage. Though he has received training from the seasoned sorcerer John Constantine, Trigger remains relatively inexperienced in wielding magic. Unlike most practitioners, Trigger's demonic heritage exempts him from bearing the burdensome physical toll typically associated with wielding dark magic. His unique lineage grants him the ability to perceive magical auras and behold supernatural entities invisible to ordinary eyes, such as ghosts. His training primarily focused on spells demanding meticulous preparation, such as Astral Projection, Divination, Sigil Magic, Exorcisms, Minor Illusions and Minor Summoning. He is also adept in telepathy and telekinesis. In combat, Trigger's paramount skill lies in his capability to unleash formidable eldritch blasts composed of pure magical energy from his palms effortlessly. Furthermore, he can mold these blasts into a whip, providing versatility beyond mere ranged attacks. Defensively, he can swiftly conjure protective barriers with a simple swipe of his hands. However, his proficiency has yet to reach the level where he can erect a spherical barrier around himself without resorting to ritualistic methods. Additionally, Trigger exhibits a modest proficiency in pyrokinesis. While he can amplify the size of flames to a certain extent and manipulate their trajectory, his current abilities confine him to conjuring only diminutive flames akin to those produced by a standard lighter. Weaknesses: Despite his magical prowess, Trigger is at the end of the day only slightly less vulnerable than the average human. His demonic heritage grants him a slight boost in endurance, but not so much that he could stand toe to toe with a super strong villain in a hand to hand fight and hope to not be at best sent the hospital for a few days or at worst killed. Along with this, while his demonic heritage grants him some major advantages, it is also a double-edged sword. The inherent darkness within him constantly threatens to overpower his will, tempting him with the allure of forbidden magics or even demonic possession. This internal struggle not only undermines his focus but also leaves him vulnerable to manipulation by malevolent forces seeking to exploit his vulnerabilities. In terms of his skillset, his most formidable skills come from his youth as an amateur, almost professional boxer and years as a gang enforcer. His skill with his hands and his footwork exceeds that of the average fighter. This, combined with the brutal methods used by his former gang make him a formidable foe up close. He has a penchant for brass knuckles and has fought dirty more times than he cares to admit. Outside of combat he has a keen interest in mixology, and can make an array of cocktails from memory. He's also not a half bad chef when he makes his signature dishes. Personality: Trigger is best described as a cocky person. He comes accross as overtly confident in every facet of himself, from his abilities as a spellcaster to how good his hair looks. It almost borders on arrogance at times. Quick-witted and sharp-tongued, Trigger navigates life with a perpetual smirk, always ready with a clever quip or witty retort to lighten the mood—even in the face of danger. He has a resilient spirit that refuses to be crushed by adveristy, and at times refuse to bow to authority. He has a deep reservoir of courage within him and is able so stand tall in the face of any foe. He also has a great deal of compassion within him, and though his methods may not always line up directly with what a "hero" is, he truly believes that he does more good than bad at the end of the day. Beneath his charismatic exterior lies a complex inner world shaped by insecurity and uncertainty though. He is still very new to the superhero life, and it is not one he ever thought that he would be apart of, in fact quite the opposite. Caught between the desire to prove himself and the fear of failure, Trigger often finds solace in sarcasm and humor, using them as coping mechanisms to navigate the unfamiliar terrain of his new life. However, his penchant for taking the piss out of his friends can sometimes backfire, people who aren't used to him or the fact he's poking fun at them because he likes them might take offence to the things he says. He is also fiercely stubborn, wanting to prove himself to other supers in any way he can. This can sometimes manifest in wanting to handle things himself or refusing to accept help when he might need it. Yet, despite his abrasive tendencies, there remains a glimmer of warmth and compassion beneath the surface—a willingness to stand by his friends when the chips are down, even if his methods may seem unconventional. He never knew his father and was raised by a single mother struggling to make ends meet. As a child he had a lot of behavioural issues and struggled with a lack of direction in life. Thankfully, a sense of order and a second family was granted to him in the form of a local boxing gym. The coach has noticed Colin getting into trouble in the area and after meeting with his mother decided to take him on for free. Despite the hardships of his upbringing and less than ideal living conditions, Colin possessed a natural athleticism and a fierce determination to succeed - a drive that led him to pursue boxing as a career as a means of escaping the cycle of poverty and to give himself and his mother a better life. From a young age he showed great promise in the ring. Earning the moniker 'Trigger' for his ability to 'pull the trigger' in a match and knock his opponent down. His lightning fast reflexes and tenacity earned him a reputation as a rising star in the British amateur boxing scene and he was aiming to turn pro after he turned 18. However, his dreams of glory were cut short when tragedy struck not long after his birthday. A devestating fire during a match at his gym led to the destruction of the entire gym and left Trigger an orphan, with no solace and no source of income. Faced with mounting debts and grieving too much to get back into boxing, Trigger had to make the difficult decision to join a gang of loan sharks and drug pushers as an enforcer. It was a decision born out of desperation—a path he never imagined himself taking, but one that seemed inevitable in the face of overwhelming adversity. For years, Trigger toiled in the shadows, his days consumed by violence and his nights haunted by the ghosts of his past. He did things he never thought he would, and regretted the life he could have had. Yet, beneath the tough exterior he presented to the world, a spark of something more lay dormant—a latent power waiting to be unleashed. He was providing backup for a drug trade, when the rival gang decided to pull a bait and switch and murder Trigger and his accomplices to take the drugs and money for themselves. It resulted in a bloodbath, they well and truly got the jump on them and Trigger was the last one left alive. Faced with death and no escape, something broke within Trigger and his senseswere suddenly assaulted by a surge of raw, primal energy—a dark and potent force that seemed to seethe and writhe within him, begging to be unleashed. It was as if a dormant power, long dormant and forgotten, had suddenly awakened within his very core, responding to the violence and turmoil that surrounded him. With a sense of awe and disbelief, Trigger watched as tendrils of shadowy energy coalesced around him, twisting and writhing like living creatures in the night. His muscles tensed, his heart pounded in his chest, and a strange, exhilarating rush swept through him, suffusing his being with a sense of power and purpose he had never known before. He didn't know what had happened, or how he had survived. But the feeling of this power was intoxicating. He leant into it, allowing it to consume him. Over time less of him began to control himself, and his demon blood took over. He beceme more demon than man and ended up waging war on his own gang overcome by blood lust. It wasn't long before Constantine caught wind of the sudden increase in demonic killings and tracked him down. Constantine easily subdued Trigger, and after exorcising him he discovered the truth. Knowing he couldn't allow Trigger to roam free for fear of this happening again he had two options: kill him, or train him. In a surprising turn of events, Constantine took him on as his apprentice, and the two formed a close father-son relationship over the years as time went on. It's been a few years since then and Trigger hasn't done much at all outside of accompanying Constantine and doing all he can to learn about his magic abilities and how to hone and control them. It's been a slow process, but he's definitely getting there. Constantine however was more than a bit worried about Trigger's social life. The last thing he wanted was him to grow up to be an antisocial weirdo like himself. He put some feelers out into the superhero community and discovered that the Teen Titans were looking for new members. He pulled some strings and managed to get Trigger on the team, albeit against his will initially.
