Or they could be due to the work of an almost equally old civilization of stealthy, sneaky gene-stealing aliens that have evaded detection for the same number of eons. Heh :D

With eons of time, I'm sure the numbers will add up somewhere. That'd be interesting, since that would probably mean an upwards of at least thousands of Triarii pinched, some from eons past, sleeping somewhere in a stasis pod :D.

EDIT: Sleeping, or dead. As they became more technologically advanced, I'm sure they'd know a way to mentally stun a Triarii before it commits suicide.
