Jackie was tired, and bored. On this one hour taxi drive, all she had for entertainment was a book in her bag and, to top it off, she was beginning to feel carsick from reading in the moving vehicle. She was annoyed and nervous to be leaving the only home she’s known for awhile, so when they pulled up to the tall apartment complex, Jackie decided it was a blessing and a curse. She fiddled with her bag for a second, securing the snap, and heaved it onto her shoulder before retrieving the suitcase from the trunk. The smoking taxi driver grumbled and moaned under his breath as he began to leave the apartment building, a disgruntled middle finger and Jackie being left in his rearview mirror. She barely paid attention to the doorman, ready to just continue on through, when he laid a hand on her gently. Jackie turned sharply in surprise to look at him as he gave her the instructions and she nodded in thanks. Her feet were dragged across the lobby as she spotted a blue locked girl already seated. The redhead slumped into a cushion with space in between them and once again opened her book – a book she’s read far too many times.
