Joshua took a knee, the leaves and twigs crunching beneath him, now confidant that he was a good distance from the city. He looked behind him, he couldn't see the skyline anymore and that was good enough for him. He looked forward, taking off the hat he had on and setting it down next to him. He took a deep breath though his nose, smelling the surrounding area, he smelled nature, rotting flesh, and freshly upturned dirt. All the while, he was watching the area intently, once he smelled, he listened, he could hear distance moving, rustling of leaves from a slight win, and distance gunshots. He knew he was home free, at least as home free as you could get right now. He stood up, quickly checking his equipment before moving out and leaving the area he'd been sitting in. He remembered looking at a map back in the city, that a small town was just beyond the woods on the other side. He felt the town would be easier to scavenge than the city, as it wouldn't be crawling with tens of thousands, possibly hundreds of thousands, of infected along with the bands of trigger happy humans that also roamed the streets. "Well now, if I'd of kept that damn map." He laughed, stepping off into the thickening woods ahead of him.
