Bam burst into the tavern like he owned the place. He strolled up to the massive bar keeper's counter and placed a dead rabbit-like creature on it, probably extracting strange looks from surrounding patrons,"I would like to sell this beautiful animal to you Sir, name your price!" he exclaimed cheerfully, this being a rather good produce of his hunt and probably would make him a coin or two. While waiting for the bar keeper to answer, he whistled and listened to the hustle and bustle of the people in there and smelled the smell of meats and other foods. Also, he scanned the crowd to see if there was anyone who might have a job for him. (Rolls with Perception Stat ) (Gets a 6!) Bam looked across the room most people seemed fairly uninteresting, drinking and eating. Two things caught his eye though. Two guards sat in one of the far corners, they where challenging people to arm wrestling and when they lost the loser would pay gold upfront. The second thing that caught his eye was a curtained off area. The curtain was a rare looking purple. Inside sat a elderly woman, some kind of crystal ball in front of her. She looked like a fortune teller of some sort. -------------------- "Remember, there's only a one letter difference between tits and tips." — Misfile Daxius' concentration was broken when the door to the tavern was thrown open by a small 'person' holding a dead animal in his hands, with his thought broken he noticed how thirsty he felt, he looked around the tavern for the barmaid when he spotted her. She was sat on the floor beneath the stairs, her arms wrapped around her in almost a self hug. Daxius waved to her, trying to get her attention. She looked up from her feet and skimmed the room with her eyes until they landed on Daxius waving his hand at her. Daxius watched her get up and proceed to walk to him, deftly slipping her way between narrow gaps between tables. (Rolls with Perception Stat ) (Gets a 5 ) The barmade seemed happy enough her smile showed it and the jingle of coins in the tip pouch by her side seemed to show the job paid well. She had brunette hair which reached down her back and her dress flowed to her ankles. A sheath was by her side where a small blade was held. Daxius noticed the leather was slightly worn and the handle nicked showing it had been used before. For what reason it was unknown but her beautiful looks may attract a few wandering eyes, the low cut dress showing off cleavage probably only increased this but it was probably good for tips. He stood up from his chair as she approached And watched her slip between the last two tables before she was in the secluded corner. She stood short compared to Dax, the top of her head reaching the base of his chin, with a rasp he proceeded to make his request:"excuse me miss, but I'd like a glass of clean water," his voice was abrasive to his ears after long weeks of disuse "none of that brown stuff the elf was supplied with." “Sorry but that’s the cleanest water where going to get around here. The well we used to use caved in last week.” The barmaid softly replied “The alcohol is clean though, the barrels are shipped from all over.” "would you happen to have an apple?"Dax asked “If you have a gold piece then yes we have fresh apples. Picked locally.”The bar maid replied. ----------------------- Eryel quickly changed his tune once the glass of ‘water’ was placed upon the bar. This was it? As if the outside wasn’t filthy enough, the one comfort he saw was but an illusion. “Thank you…” The elf muttered. At least the pie was eatable, he hoped. It didn’t seem too horrible, despite the meat. If it was anything like that water, however…the bartender would surely need to up the quality of his place. Despite the uncomfortable feeling running down his spine, Eryel dug into the pie but left the water alone for obvious reasons. He had paid money for it, but he knew how humans functioned. If it reached the counter, that meant the money had been spent and no refunds were possible. Greedy, filthy creatures but their greed made Eryel’s job so much easier. As long as he got his hands on something golden and shiny, some poor sod would buy it even if it was cursed. One thing Eryel prided himself in was the fact that he was an honest person, never selling anything without revealing its secrets first. The treasure hunter couldn’t help but overhear the bartender speak with one of his comrades. A job? While he preferred to be paid in coin, a free night’s sleep would be a good path towards just that. ------------------ Despite the bartender's firm position on the cost, Shaleer mainted his cheerful yet perplexing cheerfulness; that is, until a disrupting figure came through the door with a rabbit and placed it on the counter before him and the bartender. Shaleer almost raised a hand in protest beforing shaking his head, believing it to just be a strange custom he'd yet to understand. Shaleer stole a a quick glance at the elf, still fascinated ever since the boat ride as elves were a rare sight in his home city. Returning his eyes to the bartender, Shaleer forced a laugh and said, "Whatever you need for the night, I'm at your service." His eyes faltered as he looked at the dead creature on the counter again, hoping everyone here wasn't as straightforward as the gnome was. The bartender began to speak “There is a man , he is in room 3 and he has refused to pay for his stay. He has been up there 2 days and he's driving mine and the other patrons patience. He knows me so I cant do anything about it but if some unknown men came and kicked him out... well there is nothing we could do about that. Everyone here hates the guy so we will cover you if he starts complaining to the guards, no-one will ever know you did it.” The bartender talked quietly but made sure the man and the elf could hear him. Addressing the problem to both of them. “Like I said before there’s a meal and a room for you both if you do” ------------------------- The bartender then walked to the gnome “You know the price two gold if its a clean kill and the meat isnt to mangled.” The man picked up the rabbit looking at the crossbow bolt wound in its chest, the bolt had gone straight through with the power behind it. “Looks good two gold pieces and a drink?” The bartender offered.
