And these are the names of the holy angels who watch. . . Raguel, one of the holy angels who takes vengeance on the world of the luminaries.
It went by many names. The Shoah. The Porajmos. Generalplan Ost. In the English-speaking world, it was known as the Holocaust. It would be pointless to rehash the misery, the suffering, the immensity of the crimes committed by the National Socialists on the territories they occupied. Names such as Auschwitz, Dachau, and Sobibor have become infamous. But one name that has been forgotten is Ste. Christina. It wasn't much, just a mental hospital tucked away in the hills of the French countryside, perhaps halfway between Marseilles and Toulon. When the Germans and Italians occupied Vichy France in November of 1942, the tight little cluster of white-painted brick buildings was turned over to the far more sinister purpose of human experimentation. Behind those walls, the men of the SS did horrific things to various groups of "undesirables", all in the name of the brand of science practiced by the Third Reich. And the greatest injustice of all was that no one was punished. When Ste. Christina was liberated in August 1944 by elements of the American Seventh Army, there were not greeted by any surrendering men, no intact documents. Just a pile of perhaps three hundred recently machine-gunned corpses and the evidence of far, far more. While the Americans were horrified by the discovery, any hunt for the perpetrators was quickly forgotten in the massive undertaking that was the liberation of France. And so, various instigators of the cruel tortures and mass murder at Ste. Christine escaped scot-free, hiding in the shadow of even worse atrocities. The commandant, the researchers, other henchmen and collaborators, forgotten and unhunted.

The year is now 1956, and the world is a very different place. The Soviets loom in the east, and the first major armed confrontation between the ideologies has ended in stalemate and two Koreas. Israel turns an uneasy eye upon her neighbors, while the Americans look within for threats real and imagined. You have received a telegram and a wire transfer of some of your home country's money. Not much, just enough to get you to London and what is vaguely said to be a job interview. Curious and looking for work (or possibly just excitement), you attend. There, two men meet you. One, a boisterous veteran of the war, the other, a rabbi sitting quiet in the corner. The conversation is to the point. You and the other attendees are charged with the duty of hunting down the monsters of Ste. Christine, wherever in the wide world they may hide. Upon discovering them, your task is not to bring them to court, but rather to assassinate them. Call it justice, call it vengeance, call it an eye for an eye, to you it's steady employment. Finding all of the fugitives may take years, and until then, you are under contract.

Name: Include any aliases here as well. Gender: Self-explanatory. Date of Birth: I will likely not accept any characters under the age of 25 at the beginning of the story. For this RP I would greatly prefer characters with a bit of life experience. Nationality: Where your character is originally from. Doesn't have to be where they're living now. Appearance: Either a picture or detailed description is acceptable. No anime, please. Curriculum Vitae: A list of your character's notable employers and accomplishments. Essentially, a brief professional history, that explains why you came to be considered for a team of globe-trotting assassins, bounty hunters, and spies. Also touch on whatever skills you might have: if you speak Farsi, are a Golden Gloves boxer, or can defuse land mines, this is the place to bring that up. Personality: Now we get into the nuts and bolts of your character. I'm looking for more than just a list of traits. I'm after a paragraph that lets me know what makes your character tick. What motivates them? How do they view others and themselves? Personal History: What has your character been doing with their life up until now? What was their childhood and family like? What were notable incidents to them? I'm especially interested to know what they were up to in WWII. Miscellaneous: Anything else you think we need to know.
NOTES This RP will be episodic, a series of small vignettes focusing on one hunt or case within the overarching plot. Think like individual episodes of a TV show. My goal is to play out each vignette in one to three weeks real time, with a break in between each. That way, you can do "Paris, October 1958" with us all, then skip "Montevideo, March 1959" so you can focus on moving or finals or whatever might need your attention, then hop right back in for "Lahore, January 1960". This also means new people can join us at any time, all they need do is wait for the start of the next case so as to make their introduction feel a little more natural. As this takes place over several years, expect characters to age. Death is also on the table, whether in action or of natural causes. We'll work it out together. Keep the setting in mind, if anyone whips out a cell phone I'm going to be a wee bit irritated. Please keep all OOC discussion in the appropriate thread. Maintain a civil and respectful attitude. No godmodding, munchkins, etc. Finally, please, have fun!
