He learned to live by his own two simple rules: 1. Dont get attached. 2. You're on your own. Though despite his rather detached and reserved nature, all his life he's been working hard to fit in. Deep down that strong facade is a soft heart that longs for a place where he truly belongs. History: It wasnt easy growing up to be him. For as far as he can remember, they were moving from places to places more often as not. He didnt get a chance of having a permanent life. It was always him and his father. No friends and relatives. His father who barely talks about anything, who would drag him down the road for no good reason, who will gladly take away everything he's ever known in his life, and pretends he cares about him more than anything, or at least thats what Nicholas thought before the monsters began to appear. He was 10, they were on the road like they always have. His dad was tensed and distracted, he would look out to his window and his rear view mirror like he's expecting someone's there on a pursuit. He does this always, and Nicholas hates it. His father would mumble words under his breathe once in awhile, words he cannot understand at the time. Nicholas started to yell, it pisses him off, he pisses him off. His father told him to calm down, but Nicholas wouldnt. And then it hit them. Like literally something huge and solid smashed their vehicle towards the driver's side. The impact was so powerful it sent the car flying several feet off the ground, landing in a horrible crash towards the wheat field across the other side of the road. Metal groaned, and glass spraying everywhere as the car tumbled down and finally stopped. And then there's blood. His father breathing heavily beside him. Nicholas began to panic when he saw that his father's been stabbed by a metal rim in his stomach and was losing lots of blood. He was scared. He's never been this scared in his life before. "Listen to me, Nicholas." His father told him urgently, he gritted his teeth. It appears that even speaking gives him so much pain. "They're coming for you..." His father coughed some blood, "They... they always... have. That's why we move often. To avoid them." Weakly, he pointed towards the cd drawer under him, Nicholas opened it, and there he saw a dusty old book bound in black leather. There's no title. "It's for you." He said coughing more blood, "She told me to give it to you. But I was scared. I thought I could protect you. I dont have much time. But this will explain everything." He said weakly, and then he looked at him in the eye, "I'm sorry, son. I really am." He paused, "I love you, Nicholas..." But before he could say more he was cut by a horrible metallic roaring sound that drowned everything, and so loud he can feel his very own flesh vibrate. His insides churned and turned cold. His last memory of that moment was this white light descending from above and then engulfing everything. It was so bright he couldnt look at it directly. And then, the next thing he knew, he wakes up at Camp Half-Blood. Chiron explained everything to him. But it took him awhile to believe him. And when he finally did, he decided he's got to do something with his life, for his father and his sacrifice. Godly parent: Hecate, goddess of magic, witchcraft, and necromancy.
