As winter warmed into spring, the wolves of Vandrow and the tigers of the White Wood saw their once snow covered world waking up from it's peaceful slumber and coming back to life. The winter had been particularly harsh that year, resulting in deaths from both wolves and tigers. Spring was the relief that carnivore and prey alike had waited what seemed to be forever for. The little animals emerged from their burrows and hollows, blinking and squinting in the bright sunlight before starting their busy little days to look for food and water or introduce their young to the outside world for the very first time. For the wolves and tigers, it was just another day, maybe just a bit warmer with the color of new leaves and grass starting to grow.

---------------------
Lila woke up early, sitting up with a yawn and stretching out her small frame before looking around the den she shared with her mate, Chincf. She lightly nudged his shoulder with her muzzle to wake him up, it was their job to get the hunting party together in the mornings.

"C'mon, time to wake up," She said.

---------------------

Kita woke up quite abruptly when Anum pounced on her, letting out a startled yip and an annoyed growl at her sister before curling back up to try going back to sleep.

"Kita, wake up, I'm bored!" Anum whined, batting at Kita's ear.

"Go away Anum, I want to sleep," Kita grumbled back.

Shadow
Shadow lay on top of the den opening with her head laying across her paws, eyes actively scanning the surrounding forest. The clearing still had small patches of snow which were still in a process of melting away, leaving room for the new grass to sprout through the ground and bring a happier season. The winter had been a harsh one for the wolves, and undoubtedly for the miscreant tigers as well. Shadow knew it was getting close to another feeding and they would have to go out on a hunt again, hoping in her mind that there was enough prey in the areas that wolf nor tiger would need to cross into opposing territories just to snag a meal. Ears perked, one facing north of her and the other slightly folded behind her, hearing the pair of pups back inside the den rustling around. Shadow grinned to herself, thinking of the hope she had for herself to maybe have some pups of her own this coming season.
Kai
At the edge of the territory near the spring that ran through both wolf and tiger country alike, Kai sat in the damp sands just staring up at the sky. A soft breeze twisted through his dark fur as he closed his eyes and allowed himself to be lost in the moment. Suddenly, Kai hears a snap from just behind him and whirls around with teeth bared and fur bristled along his spine. Aleu. Kai's stance straightens and his bared teeth lose their fierceness, turning into a wolfish grin. "Aleu, you can't be doing that. It's not safe for a little wolf like you wandering around out here, alone." Kai wanders over to her and nudges her shoulder, turning her into the direction of the den.
Aleu
Aleu managed to sneak up on Kai, but purposefully stepped right in the center of a small branch just to get a scare out of him. Kai was one of Aleu's only friends who didn't try taking advantage of the small fragile she-wolf, and she quite enjoyed his company most days. Aleu shook her head and turned with him as he nudged her, following his steps, putting them almost in sync as they padded along towards the den. "Trust me, if I wanted to sneak up on you, I would have done so with ease. Smaller things tend to be better at stealth than big, bulky animals such as yourself." Aleu laughs when Kai nudges her shoulder a bit roughly, adding, "The pups should be up, soon, if they aren't already. Gotta get back before one of them.." Aleu meets Kai's gaze and they both say simultaneously, "Anum!", smiling as she continues, "..gets into trouble. Then I'll be in trouble." Without giving a warning, Kai takes off towards the den and calls over his shoulder, "Last one there has to eat the rear of the morning's kill!" while howling with laughter. Aleu, taking off in pursuit after the beast, knowing all too well that this wasn't a fair fight. She'd easily beat him. Her small frame allowed her to be quite fast. The fastest in the pack, in fact.
Desaius
Desaius lay in his own den, his nose barely picking up the feint scent of his lost mate. She'd been taken by the winter's harsh conditions, and left Desaius with nothing but an empty den and a broken heart. Desaius slowly picked himself up off the dirt floor of the den, wincing at his left side as a fierce pain travels across his body. Baring his teeth, Desaius shakes off the dirt from his pelt and slowly limps his way out from the den's cover, walking out into the cool morning air. Immediately, Desaius could smell Shadow and he looked all around before stomping out a few feet to look ontop of the den's opening to spot her. "Get down from there! Ain't need to be up there, y'er just showin' off." Shadow just flatly stared at Desaius with her ears flattened, but slowly slunk off the side of the opening and onto the ground beside it, sitting down with a soft huff. Desaius flattened his ears and stared at her for a few more seconds before wandering to the edge of the clearing, laying down near a tree where he usually lay in the mornings to wait for the Alphas to make their appearances.

Zoru

Zoru woke up with a jolt, the old injury acting up again. Well, now he knew he can't be part of the hunting party tonight. He was a stubborn wolf, always wanting to get out and stretch his legs as opposed to the other elders. He stood up, growling as he found that he had a harder time doing that than on a normal day. He was in that elder's den who had no mates in their lifetimes. He then padded his way towards the clearing and then sitting down near the entrance of his den, waiting for the alphas to show up. Morning call.

Robyn

Robyn, herself, wasn't at the clearing. Nor was she anywhere inside the border. She's been keeping an eye on the family of tigers some ways from the territory. It was a small family of five. Two fully grown, one adolescent and the other two were cubs. They had stayed there for the entirety of winter but they seem to be prepared to move. She'd been careful and concealed her trails as well as she could. Based on how they were going, they probably won't cross the border so this should be fine. She turned and hurried back to the pack. It was time for morning call and she'd rather not hear another lecture from Zoru about being late.

Avir

Another day, another bird. This was amusing, hunting the birds. They can escape easily if you're not careful so this is really a challenge. He'd need more than this though to last the day. Well at least he made through winter. Prey is going to go scampering around once again and he won't have to cross wolf territory again for then nth time. He was pretty sure that they got tired of him during winter. He started travelling once more with no destination in particular.

Chincf
Chincf's ear twitched and he stretched slowly, blinking his eyes open. "Morning already?" He mumbled, nudging her back with the end of his nose. "Ah well, then I suppose we better organise the hunt, then." the grey and black wolf got to his paws, back arching in another stretch before he padded out into the main clearing to join the rest of the pack.

Tikaani
Tikaani ducked her head respectfully as Zoru emerged from the elder's den, treading carefully since he seemed somewhat tense this morning. His injured side was probably aching again and that never out him in a good mood. Still, she greeted him quietly anyway to remain polite. "Good morning, Zoru."

Saaba
Saaba paused as she reached the river that cut between the two separate expanses of land that the wolves and tigers each called their respective territories, stooping down to lap at thw icy cold water. She would have to hunt again today, though she may have to step over into wolf territory again....prey was still hard to find even though the snow was thawing.

A young male wolf was curled up in a small den set apart from any other wolf. The redish blackish wolf was awaken by the stirring of the pack. He had come to this pack a couple of weeks ago and they had surprisingly accepted him. He uncurled himself from his tight ball and stretched out. He shook his mangy coat and exited out of the den. He shook out his coat and stretched again. It was strange and he wasn't sure if he like it. There were always wolves around even if he wished to be alone. He never realized how much he had been alone until he started spending time around other's company. He sat down in front of the den, and watched the pack awake with the new spring day. He let out a rather large yawn and his jaw snapped shut.

Ferryn stared around the camp. His stomach growled, and he acknowledged it. It had been a long winter and he lost a lot of weight, but since joining the pack he had started to gain it back.

Reaver

Suddenly from a large pile of rocks near the center of the packs territory a howl pierced the morning air signaling the rest of the pack to gather so that orders could be given by the Alpha. Reaver Stood waiting, his black coat glinting softly against the morning sun, His ferocious gaze darted about, not in fear but in simple readiness. Scars could be seen on his shoulders where a tiger had once tried to slay him...yet...here he stood. His aura was one of resolute leadership. this all being said he might have been a bit rough around the edges but he wanted what was best for this pack and he would have it no matter what. Reaver watched carefully as everyone gathered counting and making sure not a soul was missing.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Calypso

Calypso was standing near a small stream her stomach growling, she could see tasty fish but was having no luck catching any and hunger was beginning to take it's toll on the little cub, robbing her of her energy and making her tired. Defeated the little cub began walking down the river's edge feeling sick. She had no idea she was right next to the wolf territories and was making quite a bit of noise as she stumbled forward not attempting to be sneaky at all in her hunger sickened state.

"Morning indeed," Lila said, flicking her tail at him while he stretched. She waited until he was ready then padded out of their den behind him. And they were late, how on earth were they late? Did everyone but them stay up all night? She sighed and sat down at the base of the rocks Reaver sat on just as he howled.

------------------------

"Listen! The alpha's calling the pack, we should go!" Anum exclaimed, about to charge out but halted at the tug on her tail, Kita having bit down on it to stop her sister.

"Anum," She said, her voice muffled. "We can't leave the den unless Aleu says we can or she's here."

"You're no fun Kita, I want to go outside, I'm tired of being stuck in here," Anum whined, turning to pounce on Kita.

Aleu
Quickly coming to a slower pace as she entered the clearing, Aleu ducks her head in apology with her tail tucked to her rear as she passes the Alphas, making her way inside the den to grab up the pups. Reaching both of them, Aleu quickly grabs Anum by the scruff and softly nudges Kita towards the entrance of the den. With Kita in lead, Aleu stops near the entrance and sets Anum down beside her sister, gently licking the spot where she'd grabbed Anum to slick down her neck fur. Looking up, Aleu listens attentively for the Alphas commands.
Desaius
Sitting at the edge of the clearing, Desaius watches carefully and silently, unmoving. His eyes flicker over towards Reaver when he howls, focusing on him. At one point, Desaius thought of trying to challenge him but decided otherwise due to his injuries acquired as a pup that left him practically useless for anything. It was by the grace of the Alphas before both Reaver and Cahira, they both only seemed to tolerate the poor guy. However much he disliked Reaver, for no real reason, really, he kept it very respectful and kind when it came to Cahira. There was a light about her that Desaius had always admired. Things that he once saw in his past mate who'd fallen ill during the winter.
Shadow
As Reaver came into view, Shadow quickly moved out of his way and sat off to the left of the den and turned back around to sit facing the two Alphas as they silently took role call.
Kai
Kai was no match for little Aleu. To her credit, she had more than just speed in her favor. She'd spent more than a whole year longer than him exploring these woods. She knew all the shortcuts and things to avoid in the wood. Kai made it into the clearing with enough time to see Aleu's tail disappear into the shadows of the den. Spotting Shadow, Kai darted over towards her and lay next to her with his head on his paws, panting as quietly as he could manage.

Zoru

The elder wolf eyed the younger wolf as she spoke, somewhat tense. "Good morning as well Tikaani." Her assumption was right, he wasn't in a good mood and probably would stay like that for the rest of the day. But he tries to avoid snapping at wolves who come his way, they probably had enough of that from Desaius. His ears perked up as he heard the howl of the Alpha and he turned his attention to the black pelted wolf who stood at the center of he clearing atop the rocks and his mate, Cahira, arrived soon after. He dipped his head respectfully for a second before looking back up. Anyone would probably notice that today wasn't one of his good days so they'd probably not give him anything to do for now besides resting.

Robyn

Aha! Just in time! Reaver had just howled by the moment Robyn reached the edge of the clearing. Her eyes went to Desaius for a moment, dipping her head in respect for the older wolf who would probably snarl at her if she started a conversation. Her eyes quickly scanned the clearing for that familiar face. Of course she'd see her at the opening of the pup's dens. Carefully making her way there, she piped up, a little quietly than normal because of the presence of the normal, "G'morning Anum, Kita." Her attention first on the pups before she settled down beside her littermate. "Heya Aleu." She would start a conversation later when the morning call is over.

Avir

Ah, that all-too familiar river. He followed it, hoping to see any prey near the riverside. Who knows, there probably was one besides the fish. Although he'd be willing to catch those, he wasn't really in the mood for fish. He knows that it isn't the time to be picky but he's not really all that hungry. More like saving it for later just in case. His ears perked up when he heard noises. He stuck to the ground, prowling towards the noise. What he though was prey was actually a tiger cub. Now that was odd, her parents must be around correct? But no time for that, that cub was heading to wolf territory. He quickly raced over to her and once he was near her so she could hear, he called out, "Hey, hey, hey kid!" He then slowed down once he was sure that she had noticed him. "That's wolf territory, better steer clear of that."

Chincf

Chincf turned his head as Reaver and Cahira emerged from the alpha's den and the black male wolf howled to call the whole pack to attention. Assigning the hunting party members would have to wait until after Reaver had completed the role call. Ears twitching, Chincf took the beta's place at the base of the rock alongside his mate.

Tikaani

Tikaani nodded her head again and sank to lie down beside him. "At least the weather will be warmer now." she tries to be optimistic, knowing that she should probably just keep her mouth shut and yet she couldn't help but try to make small talk.

Ferryn stretched out again and headed over to the pack meeting. He knew he should put more effort into trying with the pack, but that just seemed so hard. He probably wouldn't be here long. Maybe something would change his mind, but it didn't really matter. He walked toward where the pack was gathering and sat near the back. The alpha, a big wolf with an aura of power, stood in the pile of rocks. The meetings were usually just divvying up who was going on the hunting party and who wasn't. He could atleast put on a happy face. He looked around and saw the camp converge. He hadn't exactly tried the last couple of weeks but he would try and turn that around. But for now he would just listen to the alpha.

Reaver

Reaver locked eyes with Cahira as she approached, "Winter was harsh...We have lost many..." With that comment whispered to his mate he turned to face everyone who had gathered, "Brothers and Sisters...I don't need to tell you how much we lost during the winter...Our fallen live on in our pack's survival..." The alpha choked for a brief moment keeping back his anguish over the loss of his friends and even a pup, "...I will be honest with you, We need food." Reaver's voice sounded grave, "And the tigers will be hunting as well..." Reaver's eyes darkened as the words left his maw, "Hunters be on lookout as you hunt, signal at even the slightest sign of danger..." Reaver looked to the guardians of the pack, the patrol, "Patrol I want you to do a full sweep of our territory, followed by a circle of our borders and then report back to me...again if you see anything signal..." Suddenly his eyes became very serious, "No one is to take on an enemy alone...if you see a tiger try to get away without being seen...your life is more important than your pride..." Reaver looked to the pups and their caregiver, "Take the little ones out for some play and exercise...they need to become strong...they are our future..." Reaver turned to his Beta and friend Chincf, "I have an uneasy feeling...My gut tells me this peace will be very short lived..." After that Reaver looked back out, "Anyone who is unable to hunt or act upon my orders may rest until they feel able..." Reaver purposely didn't single anyone out. "you are dismissed...be safe."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Calypso

Calypso turned her head quickly as the male tiger called out to her, she did her best to make herself look big and scary but only ended up stumbling and falling down from hunger, but it was when she heard wolves that she truly reacted in terror, "What!?!?" The little cub attempted to stand and run only to rise and fall again, "I don't want to die...I don't want the wolves to kill me! I have to run...I have to get away..." Her struggling was in vain as she moved only digging dirt into her fur and simply making her state worse.

Cahira

Cahira nob as Reaver whispered to her, it was true winter was hard for everywolf they lost so many wolf that they know, as Reaver choked for a brief moment Cahira put her paw into his paw, she know that his friend are not with them anymore, they are up there with other wolfs now and let just howl that they are doing all right.

"Let just hope that Spring can go easy on us" Cahira say after Reaver dismissed everywolf.

Lila gave Chincf a quick nuzzle, seeking a bit of comfort as Reaver spoke of those they had lost, one being her own brother. After their Alpha finished speaking, she stood and turned to her mate. "It might be good to have two hunting parties rather than just the one, it'd be easier to find prey by splitting up as well," She said.

---------------------------------------------------------

Anum let out an indignant huff as Aleu picked her up and carried her outside. She wasn't a baby! Kita padded out and went to her usual spot between Aleu's paws when Anum moved away slightly, muttering that she didn't need to be babied anymore, shaking herself to mess her fur up again. Ever the rebellious spirit... or just stubborn, whichever worked.

Shadow & Kai
Nodding at Reaver's command and Cahira's quiet murmurs, hoping for a better season. With that, Shadow stood on all fours and began wandering into the woods with Kai by her side, knowing the rest of the hunters would follow close behind.

Aleu
Aleu dips her head respectively towards Reaver, nudging the two little ones in front of her out towards the clearing. There was a pond close by the clearing that Aleu planned to take them to for some morning refreshments and playtime.

Desaius
At Reavers words of the more 'unable' wolves, Desaius lets out a soft huff under his breath and forcefully pushes himself onto his rear. Looking in the way the Hunters were heading, Desaius' ears flatten against his head and his expression softened. He longed to be apart of the hunting party, always had.

Chincf

Chincf's ears flattened and he nuzzled Lila gently, knowing she was still mourning her brother. It had been a very hard winter for the whole pack. When she suggested taking two hunting parties, he nodded. "Good idea. Well, if I take a couple of wolves and head to the south part of the territory, you take a few and head north and either one or both of us should come back with something. The prey should be coming out of their holes about now." raising his muzzle he called across to two of the pack's hunters. "Shadow, Carek, you're with me!"

Tikaani

Tikaani got to her paws after Reaver and Cahira had dismissed them and padded to join Robyn. "I'll patrol with you if you like." she offered. "We could do to sweep the territory and check for tigers. I think I smelt some earlier this morning."

Zoru

"Indeed." He replied to Tikaani before Reaver spoke of the sad events of the winter. Yes, they had lost many. There was that other elder who passed away and now the elder's den was practically empty save for only very few elders. Desaius would probably move back in since his mate had passed away as well. Although Zoru doesn't mind the company of the usually angry wolf, he wasn't overjoyed with the thought as well. Ah well. They were dismissed and the other wolves started to group themselves together for the hunt. Ah, he won't be able to go out this time. Despite his old age, he still insists on hunting, usually alone as to not hold back the younger wolves. He lied down near the entrance of the den, watching them.

Robyn

Robyn listened intently to the Alpha as he spoke. Although she didn't exactly have anyone close to her die, she was still saddened by the fact that they lost some wolves to the harsh season. She rose up, ready to report but then Tikaani approached her. "Hm? Alright. You can come if you like, I'm going to report something to Reaver." She said before heading towards the Alpha couple. She dipped her head respectfully as she approached before saying, "I'm here to report about a family of tigers who I've been keeping an eye on for the entirety of winter." He should be familiar with this given that she did report this multiple times. "They're on the move though but if they're going to go straight, they wouldn't hit the territory. And besides, one of them seemed to have caught a sickness, I doubt they would dare attack or cross the territory." And that marked the end of her report. It didn't need to be lengthy and it was straight to the point too. Now she awaited further orders in regards to that family. They would go out and search for others, just in case.

Avir

The male tiger watched the female cub, amused by her attempt to look strong and fierce only to fail and stumble down. The moment he mentioned 'wolf', the cub tried to run away only to fall again. She was either hungry or injured, hopefully it was the former. He moved towards her and said, "Well they won't harm you if you don't cross their border so no need to be so afraid." Avir should know, he always saw them on the other side of the territory. They would growl at him, one female wolf even talked to him to warn him about the danger of crossing the border. He did, multiple times, and the Pack of Vandrow didn't exactly welcome him. Nonetheless, he still exited quickly as to not aggravate the wolves. One versus a lot more is a really hard battle. "Are you hungry or something?" She looked extremely young to be on her own, she probably couldn't even hunt yet. Maybe she lost her family during the winter?

When Cahira was done stretching A wolf walk toward the two wolfs it was Robyn the Patrol Wolf who replace Zoru.

Carek, one of the wolves in the pack, came forward to offer his help. Although he was nice to the pack, he had a rather one-track mind when it came to hunting.

"Tigers? Really? That's not good. We don't need that sort of competition. Prey is already scarce enough as it is, and this is the season where our pack's need for food begins to go up, especially if we have cubs on the way." He wasn't sure if they did, but Carek tended to assume that they'd need the food.

"Cahira, I don't know if we can really help the tigers. In fact, I'd suggest we drive them out as soon as possible. The fewer mouths outside of our pack, the better. If one of them is sick, it only makes our task easier."
