Once upon a time, in a Far-Away Land, there were fantastic creatures. Elves, dwarves, orcs, goblins, gnomes, centaurs, and other such things roamed the earth. And, of course, there were humans. Strong, intelligent, keen, and numerous, the various tribes quickly spread out and populated most of the known world. But they were violent and cruel, and their wanton destruction of everything around them necessitated strong outside government. The High Elves took up the mantle of responsibility, using their wisdom of age and powerful magic to coerce the humans into submission.
Unfortunately, the other races proved to be equally humanlike in their propensity for violence once they were given space to expand, and so the High Elves ended up having to rule everybody. Three of their most powerful members formed the High Council in the city of Aetherion.
The world is divided up by race into four sectors - Aetherion for the humans, Nise'corona for the elves, Fellmore for the orcs, and Khazak'run for the dwarves. Due to recent events, all routes to Fellmore have been cut off, the dwarves have begun retreating into the mountains, the wood elves have retreated into the forests, and the humans have started amassing armies.
And You, Hero, have been chosen by Sadron to investigate, and possibly save the world. You each received a personalized, hand-written letter, and all of them have requested your presence at the High Council Hill. The individual contents of each letter shall be known only to those who received them, however, and it may change your destiny - for better or worse.
