In black, thunder sounded just before one came even louder. Lightning flashed until there was a singing female voice in the vicious wind.

Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me...

The thunder came again as the voice continued with a British flag blowing in the wind.

We kidnap and ravage and don't give a hoot, drink up me hearties, yo ho. We pillage, we plunder, we rifle, and loot, drink up me hearties, yo ho.

This time, rain began to fall over a town which looked like a harbor.

Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me...

The singing faded as thunder striked once more as a pirate flag was being carried by the wind. A male voice began to narrate. It was John Silver.

Those were almost the first words she spoke to us. We remembered her name, her idea, but we did not remember the man who invented it.

The gallows appeared, as a man in shackles was forced to stand on the platform with the noose being snugged around his neck. The platform was released, forcing him to die.

Because of that man's failure, he was killed, and forgotten.

Cannon fire sounded as it dueled with another ship, causing explosions on the sea craft. The ship began to sink as its flag blew in the wind. The flag sank into the depths.

But as the years passed, an idea could still change the world. People killed in the name of it...and died defending it.

A figure of a boy floated to the surface of the water until he laid on a piece of the ship, drifting to a shore nearby.

But you cannot kiss an idea. Cannot touch it or hold it

Jamaican peasants ran to the water as they saw the figure drifting, being able to pull him ashore.

They do not feel pain or show love

Commodore Norrington and Governor Swann run over to the group as they see the unconscious boy before them. "Get a doctor!", Norrington told his lieutenant, Theodore.

But it wasn't the idea that was missed

A gold glimmer shined near them, but they didn't notice.

It was a woman. A woman that made us remember. A woman, we pirates can never forget

The story title appeared in the darkness of the screen.

Will Turner waited slightly impatiently as he stood in the doorway. He brushed at his tunic and pushed some hair out of his eye. He quickly straightened as the door opened. The manservant looked at him a bit disapprovingly. "Can I help you, Sir?"

"I'm here to deliver a sword to Governor Swan." Will and the man didn't really get along. For some reason the guy didn't like him and always seemed to have a slight disdain for him every time he came over. Maybe he thought Will was just some riff raff who didn't really belong here in the mansion. Holding up the case, Will looked at the man.

Almost as if he refrained a sigh, the servant stepped aside. "I will inform him you are here." He closed the door behind Will. "Wait here." He turned and walked out of the room.

Will looked around the room. It had been some time since he had been here. He used to come here a lot when he was young. He and Elisabeth - Ms. Swan - had been good friends. Then it become improper. She still hadn't given up the childhood friendship but he had. At least formally. And he didn't really see her as a friend. Hadn't really for some time. Maybe that was why the Governor had discouraged him.

"You're a great lad, Will. I'm so glad we have been a part of your life. But Elisabeth," the man paused. "It's just that it's no longer proper for you two to hang out. She's high breed and you..." He was too kind to continue but the implication was the same. "I would appreciate it if you treat my daughter formally from now on."

So Will had - much to Elisabeth...Ms. Swan's annoyance. He turned, pushing the thought out of his mind. He hoped to see her yet at the same time dreaded it. He loved her but knew he couldn't have her. Frowning at the candle holder on the wall he went over. It looked poorly done. He reached up, it breaking as he touched it. He looked around guiltily. Hearing footsteps he quickly dropped it in a basket and turned toward the stairs.

The open sea. The fresh salt air. Abigail lifted her face, eyes closed and inhaled it. She loved the sea. The freshness of the air, the great vast water going on forever, the slight splash of the water against the sand. It was almost as if she had it in her veins. But she knew she didn't. She was the daughter of the Lord Peter Ashe and the Lady Merriam. There was no sea blood in their veins - at least not that she knew off. Her mother hated when she went to the docks. It wasn't fitting for a lady to be there. Her father, easily swayed to her opinion - unless her mother was around - hadn't left England a day in his life. He was content to stay on the isle having no need to travel.

But she... She loved it. The occasional journey to visit her cousin was the highlights of her young life. It was always a battle. She had to convince her mother foremost to go. Usually it took sometime and a lot of pressing before the woman would give in. Not that she always did. The last time Abigail had been on the sea was three years ago. An eternity in her opinion.

But she pressed that away. She was here now. And walking on the beach, the sand in her toes was bliss. Of course, if anyone saw her without her shoes, she'd get a lecture. Her mother would be up the wall at the scandal it would have caused. Though she wasn't here, Abigail's uncle - Governor Swan - was. And he wouldn't have been too pleased. In fact, if he knew she was out this early without anyone's knowledge, he would be most displeased. She was a young woman and very 'vulnerable'. Like anything would happen to her. This was Port Royal. A British port with British law. No one would dare mess with a lady such as herself. And despite the bare feet and slight strands of hair freed from there restraint, she was that. Her bearing, posture, and even dress indicated she was upper class. Not that she cared.

Sometimes she wished she was no one. Just another girl who could live on the beach or on the sea. She often envied those who could sai wherever the wind took them. Her? She had her life very restricted. In fact, she guessed that after this trip she won't be coming back. She had already begin to receive suitors before she left and if her mother had her way, she would be married before next spring. In fact part of their agreement in letting her come was that Abigail would work with her mother. Not that she had a choice - so might as well make the best of it.

She sighed. Marriage. It wasn't that she was opposed - if she found the right man. She just felt she was too young still. Her cousin was older and still had yet to marry. Though she admitted last night that Commander Norrington seemed interested in her. Abigail rolled her eyes. The man was a good decade older than Elisabeth. Besides, a faint smile formed. They both knew where Elisabeth's true feelings lay.

Her few visits had brought her in contact with Will Turner. He was a pleasant young man, that she had a slight crush on when she was younger. She wasn't interested in him now, him just not being her type. Though even if he were, she wouldn't step between her cousin and him. Not that either would have been allowed to even move forward with it. Will was a blacksmith apprentice and well... they were ladies of the court.

Finding herself again going toward that dark train of thought, she opened her eyes and gazed out over the ocean. It was calm today. A slight breeze flickered in the wind, playing at her hair. Her mother would be aghast that it wasn't fully neat but she didn't care. It was done proper but she wasn't going to fix the few strands that had escaped.

"Sir, you have a visitor", one of the male house servants spoke to the governor upstairs, who was checking his gray, curly wig. Hurrying downstairs, he could spot the young man already there, and he presumed that this young man had the sword that was to be expected at the Commodore's preposition. For him to be governor, it wasn't easy. Looking after his only daughter wasn't easy. Yes, his daughter. The beautiful Elizabeth Swann; expected to be married off to a wealthy young man to spread the family branch. However, finding the right spouse wasn't simple. In this town, wealthy and low-class don't mix. But, he expected her to find one soon enough. "Ah, Mister Turner! Right on time", governor Swann proclaimed as he approached the young man.

Will straightened. "Sir." He nodded his head in respect. He held out the case. "Sword commissioned as requested. My master sends his apologies for not delivering it in person but some unexpected work came up." Bah. The old man was lying drunk on the floor - like he usually was - having not lifted a hammer since Will was fourteen. He had been the one to craft the fine workmanship of the sword. But like all things, the credit would go to the lazy old fool.

He watched as the Governor examined it. "A fine blade for a fine officer." He smiled, very proud of his work. He knew it was for Norrington. He didn't really care for the man - he was a rival interested in Elisabeth and that was that. But he did respect him and was proud to give him something of high quality.

~ ~ ~

Moving further down the beach, Abigail reached down and picked up some sand. She let it slide through her fingers before straightening. She didn't pay attention to the time. It was still early, that much she knew. She'd have to go back eventually - Norrington was getting a promotion today and she was expected to be there. Her uncle insisted on it. Just what she needed. A boring promotion with a bunch of protocol and pageantry. Boring. Still, it was expected and she had been used to doing things she didn't like since she was a small child. She was a lady. And despite what one wanted, you did what was expected of you. All the more reason she was going to enjoy her time here.

The governor sheathed the sword out of its holding as he listened to the young man's explanation on the design of the sword. Honestly, the governor wasn't too interested in blacksmith apprentice's technique and skill with his control on the sword. "Impressive. Very impressive. I'm sure the Commodore will be most pleased with this", he passes the sword back to Will, so it would placed properly back in its sheath. "Well, do pass my compliments to your master, would you?", he asked him expectedly.

Behind them, a woman descended down the stairs in a fashionable Victorian dress. "Oh, Elizabeth, you look absolutely stunning", the governor complimented to the woman with her brown-blonde hair tied up. "Will, it's good to see you", she smiled while walking towards them.

Will took the sword and put it back away. He forced a smile and nodded. "Yes Sir, I'll pass the word on." Right. Like that would ever happen. The man barely stayed sober, instead relying on Will to do everything - including picking him up additional alcohol, food, and the like. Will even picked up the payments. If he wasn't so honest, and the fact that you really couldn't go too far on an island, Will could have robbed the man blind years ago. But he didn't. Besides, it wasn't worth it. He learned what he could and would stay here as long as Elisabeth stayed here.

Glancing up as the woman he was just thinking about came into view, he steeled his emotions so as not to betray his feelings. She on the other hand, lighted up upon seeing him. He smiled slightly as she greeted him. Her father excused himself to go get the payment but not before giving Will a slight look reminding him his place. Will gave a slight nod in understanding, despite his disagreement with it. He turned and smiled at Elizabeth. "Ms. Swan." He bowed slightly.

Clearly that didn't make her happy at all but he wasn't going to call her Elisabeth. He couldn't. Not only because the Governor disproved but because he was afraid that if he did, his feelings for her would show. He slightly took in her dress. She was lovely. So lovely. He pushed the thoughts from his mind. No. He couldn't have her and therefore didn't dare let those thoughts continue.

He hated classes. He and Elisabeth could never be because of it. Not that she would ever see him more than a friend. A good friend but a friend nonetheless. And that alone, above all else, made this even more difficult.

"Will, how many times do I have to say for you to call me 'Elizabeth'?", she whispered to him, as soon as her father walked off. If her cousin were here, the younger one would make a small, friendly grin at 'Lizzie's slight tease of amusement. The governor's only daughter, Elizabeth Swann, had the physical appearance of a fine young woman; a young goddess in human form. For her, she didn't mind talking to those of low-status. She was just too kind when talking to them, not really wishing them harm, but only to wish them the best of luck, despite what her father thinks on such behavior.

"Well, we don't want to be late now, do we?", the governor cut in as he took the presentation case in hand, gave Will the payment. "Come now, Elizabeth", his daughter just kept her kind smile on. "Good day, Mister Turner", she softly said, sounding slightly disappointed to not talk to him a little longer, before following the Governor out of the mansion, and to the carriage that was waiting outside. Now that she thought about it: where was Abigail?

"Always one more." Will replied a bit seriously. He kept his emotions in check. He loved her - or so he thought. He had had a crush on her since he was young - not when they first met but some time after. Then from that he believed it turned to love. But him and her will never work. She the daughter of a governor and he was but a lowly blacksmith's assistant.

Seeing the Governor come back he nodded once more and took his payment. He nodded to both. "Governor. Miss Swan." He turned and left. He headed back to the shop for a bit more work to do. What he'd like to do is follow Elisabeth but he didn't. One that was just stalking. And two, why torture himself more? Besides, he had work to do. A cannon had needed repairing and he was looking forward to the challenge of it.

The morning air was crisp as he walked. There were several others about as well and he smiled. Port Royal was a fairly descent sized settlement but he knew most of the people and they him. Some of them even knew, and respected, that he really did the work at the blacksmiths shop. He didn't have a lot of friends here, none really - other than Elisabeth and even now he had to be more formal with her. But that said, he did have a lot of acquaintances.

Abigail soon found herself looking out over the harbor. There were a good three or four ships in the bay, including the HMS Dauntless and HMS Interceptor. Both ships were powerful. The Dauntless was a hundred gun ship of the line. Fast and agile it was the pride of the fleet. The Interceptor was only a brig with 16 side cannon and two swivel deck cannon. It was said to be the fastest ship in the fleet. Both lay anchored in what, Abigail thought, was a lovely sight.

How she'd love to sail on one of them. The ship she had arrived on - and was just leaving - was not really a warship. Oh it had guns. You had to with pirates but it just wasn't the same. Her luck was she'd never get on one of the worships. But then again.... she was the niece of the Governor. Maybe she could use that to her advantage to get on board. She smiled mischievously and wondered if she could convince her cousin to come along. She had no doubt Elisabeth would go along with it. The cousins both had that curious streak in them.

Both the harbor and the town were bustling with activity; markets selling and buying, and animals communicating with each other, either on the streets or their stables/pens. Leaning in the shade, against one of the barns sat a womanly figure, who appears to be wearing suggestive clothing that seems to resemble a Western saloon girl; a lace-trimmed, ivory-colored tank-corset with an addition of tight, long-sleeves, and a matching short mini-skirt stopping at her upper thighs. Attached to her back-waist, was a matching ivory organza bustle pooling down to her feet, and revealing her front bare legs. She also appears to be wearing black, lace-trimmed, thigh-high stockings, a black choker, and black calf-high heeled boots. Her chest-lengthed, wavy-curled dark brown hair was covered by a hood-like piece, that also seems to cover some places of her youthful face. However, despite the coverage of some parts of her face, she seems to be able to gaze out into the market with keen, blue eyes.

Stepping out of the shadows, and revealing more color, the mystery woman strolled casually right past a fruit stand, and snuck an apple from the cart. However, this didn't go unnoticeable. "What-? Hold up there, you", the seller called to her in a patronizing manner, making the young woman halt in her steps and turn back around to walk back towards him. "It’s a shilling for one piece of me fruit", he told her, before she casted a dubious glance back towards the cart. Sighing before smiling coyly, she took three shillings from her pouch, and placed them on the cart. "What do you say to three shillings, and we forget this even happened?", she spoke to him in a cool, innocent-like tone in her English-accented voice.

The seller seems to consider this as he stepped away. "Welcome to Port Royal, miss", he welcomed her before moving off. She acknowledged the welcome with a nod and a cool smile, before moving past another cart, spotting a small money bag sitting on top of it. She picked up the bag to shake it. Pleased to hear the rattle of coins, she pocketed it and moved on. Thank god, she told Mr. Silver to keep the ship in one of the hidden arches, a few yards away from the dock. 'Do not, under any circumstances, engage', she remembered telling him. With the vessel hidden between too rock formations, it would be increasingly difficult to spot, even to the eyes of the patrolling British. However, she knows that the ship cam't stay camouflaged forever.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

At the event within the Fort,

British soldiers marched into the courtyard, with steel drums sounding with the trumpets.

Taking their places, Elizabeth, in the crowd, was cooling herself off with her paper fan, subtly looking around. Something was missing, and it wasn't present: her eighteen-year old cousin, Abigail. Since this ceremony was only for higher class, there was no doubt in anyone's mind that Abigail wasn't wealthy, since she was the daughter of a Lord, who laid down the pirate law. Younger, and a bit smaller than Elizabeth, she was just a beautiful, young woman.

The beach wasn't the best spot to see the harbor. It was too flat. Frowning for a second, she brightened as she got the great idea of climbing up the cliff facing to get a better view. It would be further away but provide a nice, more aerial shot of the harbor and the ocean. Besides, with the wind in her hair, the sun in her face - it would feel great.

Climbing up, barefoot, wasn't the best idea. She regretted it slightly wondering if she should go back and find her shoes but she dismissed the idea. It wouldn't hurt her too much and the shoes were a bit uncomfortable anyway. But they were the latest fashion craze going on in London - not that she cared. But her mother did, so... Either way, she'd rather deal with the rock than putting those shoes back on. How did they expect anyone to walk in those things? Fashion made no sense to Abigail. Oh she liked pretty things - a beautiful dress or whatnot - but she was also a bit practical. Not being able to breathe? That was cumbersome. Shoes that pinched her feet? Not worth it. Even as it was, her current attire was not the best for climbing. The corset was a bit tight making her breathing a bit harder but she pushed on. The skirts were also a tad annoying but there was nothing she could do there either.

Reaching the top she looked out at the city of Port Royal and the harbor. Her sharp eyes picked up movement on the embankments as British soldiers lined up. She frowned and looked closer than, heart jumping a beat, she remembered. The promotion ceremony. She was supposed to be down there. The daughter of a Lord and niece of the governor, it would not do well for her to miss it.

"You always forget the most important details, Abigail." Her mother's frustrated voice sounded in her mind.

It wasn't that she was a space case - no far from it. Her memory was superb and she could remember things that most wouldn't. It was just that certain...unimportant - at least to her - details didn't stick. She hadn't been real pleased with having to go to the promotion ceremony - an undoubtedly tedious and boring event to begin with. Not to mention she'd have to smile, give some lady like charm, which she was good at, and pretend to be happy for someone she really didn't know outside of a passing acquaintance. She could do all of that, very well when needed, she just wasn't a fan.

She glanced down at her attire. A bit dirty from her climb and not the best thing to show up to a ceremony in. The thought briefly came to her that it might just be better to skip it altogether. She had just gotten up here and by time she got down there to the ceremony she'd be late anyway. And that was assuming she went straight there without finding her shoes - something she would have to do first otherwise cause a scandal. Either way, she was dead. Her uncle would lecture her to no end. Thankfully, Elisabeth wouldn't - in fact, a smile crept on Abigail's face. Her cousin would probably be envious.

Deciding she better at least attempt trying to get there before ending, Abigail turned. Something caught her eye. It wasn't in the harbor. It was out a bit, away from the site of the fort and prying eyes. She took a step closer to the edge. Was it a ship? She leaned slightly to look. She lost her footing and next thing she knew she was hurtling toward the water below. A started cry escaped her but not a real scream. She had enough wit to put her arms in front of her, knowing if she was going to hit the water, the tips of her hands might be able to cut through it a bit, thus lessening the impact. She hit the bay and went straight in.

Meanwhile, the mystery woman was making her way down the dock, attempting to cooly pass two redcoats that were on sentry duty. Before she could saunter passed them, they were immediately alert, running up to block her path. "This dock is off-limits to civilians", one of them told her. "I’m sorry, sir, I didn’t know. If I happen to see one, I'll let you know", she kept it cool with a hint of innocence as she, once again, attempted to move around them, only to find herself blocked again. How was she going to do this? Now, she knew.

"I heard there’s an event going on up at the fort. Tell me, how can two upstanding gentlemen like yourselves, not merit an invitation?", she half-curiously asked them. "Someone has to make sure this dock stays off limits to civilians, miss", the other marine responded. "That's very true, but there's one thing that's nagging the back of my mind. A ship like that", she gestured to the Dauntless in the distance. "...does, unfortunately, make this one a bit downgraded, really", she commented while gesturing to the Interceptor, perched at the dock.

"The Dauntless is the power in these waters. But there’s no ship that can match the Interceptor for speed", one of them said to her as he talked about the ship. "I’ve heard of one, supposed to be very fast, nigh uncatchable. Ever heard of the Fancy", she gave a breathed out the name. Clearly, they were confused. Not ringing a bell. "A ship, captained by a man; so evil, that hell itself spat him back out", she told them with grim in her eyes.

One of them scoffed. "No", he chuckled with amusement. "It's a real ship, you know. I've seen it", the other told him, only for his comrade to turn to him. "So you're telling me, that no ship that's captained by a man so evil that hell itself spat him back out couldn't possibly be any other ship than the Fancy? Is that what you're saying?", he patronized him. None of them noticed the woman slipping past them unnoticed as they continued to argue. "No", he answered, shaking his head.

"Like I said, there’s no ship that can match the Intercept..", he trailed off when he noticed that she wasn't there. Looking around, they spotted her standing at the wheel of the Interceptor, casually examining the mechanism. "Hey! You!", she looked at them with exaggerated, innocent surprise. They hurried towards her and raised their muskets. "Get away from there! You don't have permission to be aboard!", they told her. "I’m sorry, it’s just...it’s such a pretty boat. I mean, ship", she innocently corrected.

"What's your name?", one of them asked. "Smith", she responded casually, almost too casually. "What's your purpose in Port Royal? No lies", they demanded. She just smiled coyly with charm. "Okay, okay", she smoothly feigned defeat. "It is my intention to commandeer one of these ships, pick up a crew in Tortuga, raid, pillage, plunder, and otherwise, pilfer my weaselly black guts out", she answered with a bit of a ramble. "We said, no lies!", one of them told her. "Think she's telling the truth", the other said. "If she were telling the truth, she wouldn't have told us", the other argued. "Unless, you wouldn't believe the truth even if I told it to you?", the mystery woman cut in as they seem to consider it. It wasn't exactly the truth...

That was when they heard the sound of something hitting the water nearby, narrowly missing the jagged rocks, and causing them to turn their attention to the source. The brunette-haired woman and the sentries looked over the side of the ship and noticed a ripple. "Aren't you gonna go see what that was?", she asked them in curiosity. "I can't swim", he simply answered as his comrade shakes his head. Neither does he? So be it. Not surprised, the female gave a groan of frustration. "Prides of the King's Navy, you are. Do not lose these", she first scoffed before handing them her pistol, and her sword belt. Climbing onto the railing, she dove into the water, making her hooded headpiece come off.

Abigail hit the water hard. The landing disoriented her for a moment, turning her completely around and bringing some confusion. She held her breath, though her lungs burned. She really hadn't had time to draw in air. She tried fighting, swimming, anything but she didn't even know which way was up and her skirts dragged her further down. The salt water stung her eyes but she ignored it, trying to keep the open. She fumbled her stupid corset, hoping to release it, maybe give her a little less weight. The gold coin that she had found on the beach so long ago, hanging from a chain floated out from her bodice though didn't go far as the chain held it into place. Not that she noticed. She had more important things to worry about.

Bubbles escaped through her nose and panic started to set in. She was going to die. All those years of swimming and she'd die from drowning. The irony. Even as her vision started to blur, her lungs burning - needing oxygen, she couldn't help but wonder what her family would think. Her mother would undoubtedly take her mourning out in anger. Feeling she'd failed. Her father, he would mourn too but in a silent way. Her last thoughts were that Elisabeth would take it the hardest. Though they didn't see each other often, they were very close. "I'm sorry." She thought as her eyes started to close.

Suddenly she felt something or someone jerk her. She barely was conscious but she could barely make out a female form beside her. Was it an angel taking her to heaven? Her eyes closed. It seemed like eternity but it was only a matter of seconds before she felt a weight from around her waist and breasts release, making her breath easier. She coughed up water and blinked trying to find a point of reference. A woman's face was above hers, almost on top of her.

Startled, she gave a slight cry and nearly backed up slightly before she gave into another coughing fit. She most have inhaled water as she now tried to cough it all out. Her lungs and throat burned. She lifted herself up on one arm, turning slightly to clear her airway. The gold pirate coin hung from her neck. It was interesting design. A grinning skull stared out, almost laughing. It hung from the black cord in view of all.

It took her a second to catch her breath. She looked up at her rescuer, now a bit more coherent. The woman was not like anyone from around here. Her attire, soaked like Abigail's suggested more of a saloon girl or lady of the night. Not that Abigail knew much about either. Her parents would be mortified to know that she even knew enough to recognize the attire. Her mother would undoubtedly freak out and for a brief moment Abigail wondered which her mother would have though worse - her drowning or her being rescued by someone from lower society. Not that Abigail cared. She was just grateful to be alive. She reached forward and hugged the woman. "Thank you," she said, immensely grateful.

She pulled back finding that they weren't alone but that two redcoats were there as well and a bunch of people were running down toward them. Apparently her fall into the sea had not gone unnoticed. She quickly tucked the pirate piece back into her dress, thankful that despite the wetness of her outfit, that there was enough folds for the jewelry to go unnoticed. It wasn't something she really wanted to have to explain. Only Elisabeth knew about it.

Trying to register what fell in, the sentries looked at each other, before a gust of wind comes up, forcing them to hold their hats.

Abigail's unmoving form hit the bottom of the shallow ocean, and the brunette-haired woman swam down to her as fast as she could, eventually wrapping an arm around her. The girl's weight was light, which helped her rescuer get a better advantage. Making for the surface, she struggled, making slow progress. The dress this girl was wearing was too heavy, and the water was weighing them down. Forced to be submerged, she forced it open, and skinned Abigail out of it, kicking it away, leaving her in her elbow-sleeved underdress.

As she surfaced, the brunette was exhausted, and the sentries helped her haul Abigail out of the water. Laying the girl carefully on her back, the sentries tried to check if she was breathing. "She's not breathing!", one of them called out. "Move!", pushing them aside, the brunette slipped one her knives out from its sheath. Kneeling over the unconscious girl, she slit the corset down the middle with it, and forcefully yanked it open to allow Abigail to gain air for her crushed lungs.

Just by seeing the young girl cough up the water, the mystery woman knew for a fact that the damn corsets made for the English women, were not suitable in a place like Port Royal. Many times, she has worn fancy corsets, but that didn't mean she would wear one now. Or ever, for that reason.

The brunette tossed the torn corset aside, a moment before she even registered someone or something wrapping themselves around her body. This girl...was hugging her? How unusual. For some, she was one of a few on her ship that would even express any sympathy to colonists who were not buccaneers. She usually stole from the wealthy, but didn't really see the opportunity in rescuing one from distress. More likely, a damsel. By the looks of this girl, she was rather young. So, why not? "You're welcome", she responded, not exactly expressing any true sympathy in her words, as if she was forced to be nice.

Impressed and dumbfounded, the sentries didn't speak for a moment. "Never would have thought of that", one of them admitted. "Clearly, you've never been to Singapore. Impressed?", she rolled her eyes before looking back at the young girl laying before her. But before she thought of anything else, something gold, with a skull, was right before her, exposed. Taking a good look at the round medallion, a question rose out of her, just before Abigail hid it in her bodice. "Where did you get that?", she softly demanded.

Many would probably have blushed to find themselves in their underdress in front of mixed company. But it didn't cross Abigail's mind. She was still modest and honestly, the only thing that she even noticed about her current attire was that it was soaking wet. Thankfully the waters of the Caribbean were warm. That and the sun bearing down made any cause for chill naught. Still, her mother would have blushed and would have undoubtedly demanded a coat or something right away to hide her daughter's 'immodesty'.

Abigail sat up, using her arms to brace her. She turned, her eyes widening just slightly as she realized her rescuer had seen the gold coin. "N...nothing." She stammered. "It's nothing." she looked away. Her eyes took in the cut corset. Thank you. She thought glad that she was not wearing it. The stupid thing not only weighed a lot but it really constricted breathing, and as it was she was still trying to regulate her breathing back.

Her gaze turned back to the woman to get a better look but by that time they already had company.

"Abigail." Elisabeth was there, practically pulling her up. There was immense concern in her eyes.

Abigail gave a weak smile. "Hey."

The Governor and Commodore Norrington were close behind her, the latter due to his intended bride. Several soldiers ran up as well and they formed up. "For Pete's sake, someone give me a coat or something." The Governor said being a lot like Abigail's mother. He draped it over her so as to cover her. His gaze turned to Vivienne who the Commodore was already eyeing distastefully.

"Who are you?" Norrington asked.

The two red coats brought forth Vivienne's weapons. "She 'ad these on, Sir." One said. "Said she was going to steal a ship."

"No." Abigail pushed her way forward. "She rescued my life. She wouldn't steal a boat." Innocence and naivety. 18 was such a young age.

Coomedere Norrington raised an eyebrow and then smiled at Vivienne. He bowed slightly and took her hand as if to kiss it only to push back the sleeve. "Pirate." He declared smirking as the brand of the East India Company became visible. "Guards take this woman to the jail. She'll hang come morning."

"No!" Abigail pulled away from Elisabeth and put herself in front of the woman who one of the soldiers had just started to cuff. "She saved my life. You...You can't just kill her"

The mystery woman was expecting an answer from this young girl, but she didn't expect to see some British troops approaching them. By the looks of it, they've come to fetch the young lady. Looking upon the middle-aged Englishman, who appears to be their commander, the brunette gave a silent sigh of exasperation. More to block her path? Or was this about that pocket of money she stole from a food cart earlier? It could be that they happen to see her with an individual of high-class; that would be considered offensive and, come to think about it, tyrannical.

Having her gaze trailed to the Commodore, who happens to look upon her with a stone-cold glare, the girl's rescuer coolly raised both of her hands halfway in surrender, and stepped away from the girl, standing at her full height of five-foot, seven. She then watched another young woman help the girl to her feet; she seemed to be older, and quite the beauty with her brown-blonde hair tied up. Not to say that neither of them were, but in general, she was another one of those wealthy young ladies, sentenced to be married, and so on. Maybe a sister? A cousin? Or a dear friend?

Honestly, she wasn't sure on what to do in such a predicament: being surrounded by thousands of "red coats", plus their commander. Hearing the girl, now "Abigail", protest against the roguish woman's fate, the brunette couldn't help but feel slightly amused at the attempt. But for the Commodore to ask who she was, the mystery woman let her hands descend from her previous position, so they were cooly at her side. At least I don't have to say my real name, she thought before making her response. "Black. Vivienne Black, sir", she forced herself to say in a respectable manner with a charming smile on her youthful visage.

By witnessing this man take her hand as if she were a proper lady, Vivienne's smile faltered once a bad feeling made itself known. So before she could quickly retreat her hand, Norrington already tightened his hold on her wrist, and exposed her pirate tattoo. She knew she was in trouble. Pirate. The word made her bite her bottom lip in defeat. Charles Vane was going to kill her; but honestly, she doubted that he ever will. This time, she stayed quiet and listened. Listening, and scanned her surroundings; it was perfect. "Don't worry, I'm pretty swift when it comes to death", Vivienne assured Abigail with a wink, while she was being restrained with iron cuffs. It confused her a little that this someone, coming from the outside world of piracy, would even care about her wellbeing. Someone of a higher class!?

They just forgot to check one spot on her body. "Swift and evasive", the brunette recalled before smoothly revealing a small blade that was hidden in her bosum, and quickly grabbing Abigail before her, holding her at knifepoint with the blade resting on the side of the girl's neck.

Abigail glanced at the woman. Vivienne. She didn't understand how she could be a bit glib when her neck was on the line. She looked back at the Commodore. He was unrelenting. He was the type that would not bend the law for no man. If she had more authority she would order him to release the woman but even the daughter of a lord didn't have much authority. The woman couldn't be a pirate. Who ever heard of a female pirate? And even if she was, she wasn't stealing anything right then. They didn't catch her in the act so what if she had changed? Abigail was willing to give her the benefit of the doubt. And that was something she probably would have done anyway even if she hadn't been saved.

However, before she could really protest further, she found herself pulled back into the woman, a blade touching her delicate skin. Her heart rate skipped a beat and picked up speed though after the initial shock she was surprisingly calm. Elisabeth wasn't and moved forward but her father stopped her.

"Think carefully about what you're doing." The Commodore narrowed his eyes at Vivienne. "Let her go."

"Why?" Abigail objected almost immediately. "You're going to hang her anyway. What's she got to lose." The looks she received pretty much told her to shut up but she didn't. Not moving her head, she looked back. She couldn't see her rescuer/captor but that was fine. "I'm the daughter of Lord Ashe, niece to Governor Swan. They won't try anything that will endanger me." She looked calmly back at her uncle.

His look confirmed it as well as his exasperation that she even mentioned that but Abigail didn't care. She didn't even begrudge the woman for holding a knife to her. The woman wanted to live. Abigail would probably do the same - assuming she had the skill or was in a situation like this. She knew she would get a strict lecturing from her uncle and undoubtedly the Commodore as well after this was said and done but she didn't mind. Though she was a bit surprised to see that Elisabeth was a bit frustrated with her as well. Abigail knew it was because her cousin loved her and wanted her safe but Abigail also didn't think the woman would just slit her throat. No murderer would dive into the water to save someone they didn't know. It didn't make sense to her.

Many would probably call her naive, with some more bold ones calling her outright stupid. And in some ways they might be right. Abigail stayed completely still letting her captor dictate what the next steps were.

Vivienne kept Abigail in her grip, with the girl's back pressed against her front, along with the silver blade being pressed at her throat, as if in a prepared position to slash her throat. With a devious smile, the pirate looked at Norrington and everyone else before her and captive. "I must thank you for warming up to me, Commodore", she recalled in a respectful albeit taunting tone. However, there was no threat in her words. She didn't wish to harm the girl, but to just prove a point. Vivienne, however, did recall something interesting about Abigail: she cared about the pirate woman's fate. Interesting...

Listening, to the girl make a defense to Norrington and everyone else, Vivenne can't but feel flattered for her differing viewpoint. She was sparing her from the hangman's noose, but, who wouldn't? Everyone against piracy. That's why. But this one? How interesting... "Commodore Norrington, now if you would, please? My effects?", the brunette called back in that same tone between taunting and respecting. She needed her things, and this girl was her ticket out of a tight spot. As they were starting to pass them her things, Vivienne, now holding the girl hostage, whispered to her, so she could only hear. "Your name's Abigail, isn't it?", she asked her in curiosity.

Norrington's face tightened as he glared at the pirate. If it was up to him, they'd kill the woman but the Governor's young niece - stupid girl at that - was in the way and had managed to get herself caught. Then, to make it worse, she had the misguided innocence to tell the pirate just who she was. In some ways, he was more furious with her than the pirate. The pirate was just scum, but the girl... If she wasn't the daughter of a lord or niece of the Governor...

He gave a slight jerk of the head indicating the soldiers should give the woman back her things. Abigail took them and carefully, so as not to have the blade slice her neck, turned and faced the woman. They were very close. There really wasn't fear in Abigail's eyes. She honestly didn't think the woman would kill her. She wasn't stupid to try anything with the knife so close - not that she would have. She kept her chin up, allowing for easy access to her neck. She felt everyone watching her but she ignored it. "Yes," she whispered back. "And you're Vivienne." It was almost like a question. She put the swordbelt on and tucked the gun into it. "I'm sorry for all this." She kept her voice low. "Are you really a pirate?" She asked quietly. There was no judgement, no horror - just open curiosity, with just a hint of awe.

Abigail had grown up in a traditional home. Daughter of a lord, her life was fairly regulated. The times she actually was able to be a bit more 'free' was here in Port Royal and even then there was only so much she could do. She never learned to fight, never watched a battle, and rarely was out after dark. Though she had learned authority and being able to command (something that as the daughter of a lord, it was drilled into her), she didn't have the cool, collectiveness that this woman had. This was a woman who, at the face of death had come up with a plan and remained calm during it. In a way Abigail was envious. If the roles were reversed she'd have no way to free herself. But then again, someone of her position, the roles would probably never have been reversed. Her brown eyes looked up at Vivienne. She would never be like this woman. Not because she despised her. Oh no. In many ways, Abigail was a bit awed and envious of her. But, no. She'd never be like this woman because her family would never allow it. After a stint like this, she'd probably get sent back to England where she'd marry and live the remainder of her days locked in society's hold. Her eyes glanced down and away. Her arms fell to her side now that the woman had her things back on.

"So what's your plan?" Norrington practically scoffed. "You can't hold her captive forever."

Vivienne listened to the young girl's response, and a look of sympathy appeared on her beautiful, coy-looking face. The pirate is more surprised at this girl's courage, and the last thing she wanted, was to make tensions go higher. So she was quite impressed with her wit. Speaking of this said-wit, Abigail willingly turned around to face the woman, and Vivienne allowed the girl to do so, but still kept the silver blade at her neck. "Pleased to make your acquaintance, miss Abigail", she lowly, casually, and softly responded in confirmation. Salutations to her, then.

"It's quite alright, love. I've been through plenty. You're lucky, though; the victims always live in the end", Vivienne proudly said with a smirk, keeping her voice at a whispering level, while feeling and watching her equipment go back into place. "Easy on the goods", she softly reminded her to make sure everything was on correctly. The pirate had to admit that she felt a bit of fondness for the girl before her, and she did feel a tad bit regretful to put her in such a position. But she was her ticket to get out of the hands of authority right now, so she kept up the act in this very dangerous game.

Abigail was only at least five-foot five or so, and the task at hand wasn't hard. The pirate perked her eyes up in a challenging way with a coy smirk towards the English, before turning her attention back to the girl before her, who seems to marvel her rescuer's status. "Sticks and stones", she simply said to confirm her curiosity with that grin again. "Right now, I'm better off making survival than bloodshed", Vivienne reminded her, not too interested to share her life in fame. Her grin faltered and her eyes rolled at Norrington's question, making her turn Abigail around to face the 'red coats' again.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I'd love to stick around and chat, but I have some business to attend to!", the brunette announced as she walked backwards slowly, with Abigail still in her grip. Suddenly, she let her go, pushing her back to them, before grabbing a rope behind her that was tied to a tall gantry. Kicking a belaying pin nearby, and allowing a counterweight to fall, she was being lifted up to the top of the structure.

A real pirate. And a woman one at that. Wow. Abigail couldn't help feel a bit of excitement, her level of awe increased slightly. It was a shame there was a bunch of soldiers here and she was captive. She'd love to quiz the woman. How did she become a pirate? Why? Was it difficult being a female pirate? Wouldn't men want to take... She blushed slightly not being able to finish the thought.

She focused on the task at hand making sure everything was set. She gave a small smile before letting Vivienne turn her around. Her smile vanished but it wasn't replaced by fear. She fell forward as the woman pushed her at them. Going slightly overboard, purposely, Abigail crashed into Norrington getting in the way 'accidentally' so as to give Vivienne a bit more time.

The Commodore roughly handed her over to Elisabeth before turning his attention to the pirate. "Now will you shoot her?" The governor ordered annoyed.

"Fire!" Norrington ordered. The muskets blazed. Abigail's eyes widened slightly afraid to look. But she did. She breathed a sigh of relief seeing they missed their marks.

"Are you alright?" Elisabeth asked looking her cousin over. She was a bit annoyed at the woman for threatening her dear cousin.

"Yes, yes." Abigail said not really focusing on her but watching the woman get away. "She's a pirate." She said slightly breathless.

"And a dangerous one. You're lucky she didn't kill you." Her uncle came over and frowned down on her. "Come, let's get you back to the house. You're soaking and dressed inappropriately."

Abigail let them guide her though she looked in the direction of where the soldiers were ruining. She hoped they didn't catch the woman - Vivienne.
