I had this grand idea awhile back on the old site to start a massive RP with multiple threads and multiple GM's. Each thread would be devoted to one race/faction in the 40k universe, and each thread would have a GM who played the leader of that faction, such as an Eldar Farseer, an Imperial Lord General, a Tau Ethereal, A Chaos Lord/Sorceror, A Space Marine Force Commander, etc. Each thread could then have players join under the control of their thread's respective GM. There will be an over-reaching plot that will encompass all GM's, factions/races, and characters. I was going to do this via the format of a group RP on the old guild, but I think it could work like this.

Notes

-GM's will have to be well-written and well-versed in the race they are GM-ing. I'm gonna' request a sample post if you want to try out to GM for a certain race or faction.
-Ordinary characters can't come along until their respective race/faction has a GM, so we need to fill those slots first.
-Chaos Gods, Primarchs, The Eldar Pantheon, C'tan, The Emperor of Mankind, Gork and Mork are all off limits for players and GMs.

Obviously, there's a still a lot to brainstorm/discuss, seeing as how this will be a multi-GM roleplay. So, anyone interested? Anyone have any questions? Anyone wanna' lead the Waaaaagh!?

Okay, go ahead and message me a sample post. At your convenience of course, we still have quite a few slots to fill, so you have time.

Sounds like fun. I'll tentatively throw down for this one, though I'd like to see how well developed the idea gets first. I'd love to get my boots in the muck with the Imperial Guard.

I'll throw my interest in, too. Are there any Leadership roles left?

Things are still in the brainstorming phase, obviously. As I said, this will be a collaborative effort, so the first step must be getting together our Race/Faction leaders. Then we'll worry about the lesser characters of those factions. If you want the commanding position for the Imperial Guard, you're welcome to talk it over with Flagg, as they've already stated interest. If you're just looking to be a guardsmen or petty officer or something, that's cool too.

All of them are open. The Imperial Guard is the only one anyone's expressed interest in so far, aside from Chaos.

Speaking of Chaos, some ground rules. No playing Chaos Gods, because damn. However, you could be a powerful Chaos Sorcerer of the Thousand Sons Legion who's leading his Warband in the sector.

Greetings,

I've been playing tabletop 40K for years. So of course this sparks my interest. Quite frankly I would be more than willing to play a role under the Chaos Space Marines, the Tau, or the Eldar. However, I am much better versed with the CSM and the Tau as opposed to the Eldar.

On another note, one cannot be a Sorcerer for the thousand sons if they are trying to play Chaos. Chaos and Chaos Space Marines (which host the Thousand Sons) are two separate factions that work independently of each other and quite frankly the only reason the CSM are not entirely devoured by the Chaos is because of their continued devotion and successful actions in combat. But quite frankly, the gods of Chaos would easily assimilate the CSM if the need arose.

On any accord, you said Chaos Gods were out of the question. And it sounds as though you don't want cannon independent characters either. But let's assume I play a role under the Chaos Space Marines or the Tau, would you be opposed to a Daemon Prince or an XV8/9 Crisis Suit Commander?

Might I also recommend, if those involved are so well versed and if it should play a substantial role to subject the participants to a point requirement to maintain a suitable level of power? Because off the top of my head, I could easily fill a role and make it so intense that as a single player it would easily obliterate the masses.

Just some thoughts,

While I'm definitely a fan of 40K, I'm not really confident enough in my knowledge base to try leading a faction. I've only been into it for a couple of years, and with the amount of lore out there, that means I'm still pretty fresh.

That said, if someone heads up a Space Marine faction, I'll probably throw in with them. I did some reflection, and while Imperial Guard is fun to write in a small, Guard-centric RP, doing so in something this size could be bad Juju.

"Guardsman Jim" would, more than likely, end up having his spleen ripped out his pee-hole, and I'd rather play someone who can stand up to the generic Faction minions.

------------EDIT------------

That being said, upon further reflection, there's something rather grand about playing a plucky human with a squishy body, who has to somehow survive a world where the base-level enemy can generally be counted on to disassemble you in a one-on-one fight. It's kind of the entire point of playing Guard anyway... So I guess we'll see how masochistic I'm feeling when the time comes, now that I've negated my own argument?

I'm interested, would definitely want to do some Eldar stuff. I could even GM as a Farseer or Autarch if needed.

Have some faith, I'm sure all of us are grown up enough to RP in a fun and fair manner.

On any accord, on to RP business. I'm most especially intrigued and willing to commit to the roles and responsibilities implicit in GMing for the noble Eldar race. Dost thou, Lucian, require a novel post, newly written and bequeathed with life, to determine my suitability for such a lofty position? Or wouldst a simple sample of my previous writings suffice? I am quite well acquainted with the Eldar peoples, and I am exceedingly experienced with the socio-political mechanisms of space-elves, having at one particular juncture been so bold as to have created my own race of such a dispostion.

Let's get this shit movin! I wants me some thunder hammer action!
