@Natsucooldude

1v1s are the easiest to manage. Anything onwards - a 2v2, 3v3 - is going to be at a slower pace and the likelihood of someone dropping out is somewhat higher; and it can get a bit confusing as well.

EDIT: sorry, misunderstood your question. Yes, the arena isn't to just restricted to character vs character fights - it's just that those don't happen often here.

So i was looking at this forum and have been wondering, at what scope would the fights here happen? Are they exclusively one on one fight or would a skirmish with two warbands or even armies clashing be allowed.

I am planning on some army related shenanigans, as a matter of fact.

I'm going to need some help with this... I'm not new to combat rp, however in this group it's handled differently to what i'm used too. (Please don't make fun of me) I'm used to roleplaying in Facebook, and most of that is free writing. There are certain players who do have these magic abilities,then there are the characters, that have items related to magic abilities and not the actual characters.And for some of my own I have characters armed with weaponry that have god tier abilities. since Rp there varies time to time, my equipment is probobly more balanced then just straight up having a god mod character or overpowered character. though I'm not sure how this group of roleplayers will handle it.

Side note: can some one send me a link or tell me this group's rules for combat rp? thanks again!~

@seanmcchapman I think Hyun's Dojo, specializes in that kind of thing, there very into animations,there an animation community after all,but they also have a roleplaying section,from what I hear though it's a bit more strict on combat sessions then here.

Literally depends on what you want to do with Arena combat here. To be honest, the community is very nearly dead here, or at least, it's gone AWOL which tends to happen when nothing exciting has occurred for a while. If you want to just fight and mess around, hash out whatever rules you like with your opponent and make a thread in the subforum, do whatever, there aren't really any strict guidelines on that. If you want a ranked fight, then agree to an established ruleset with your opponent and ask for a judge in the Arena Chat thread, I'll happily judge a fight for you if you want as all the others have dissapeared.

We -tend- to use T1 Eden here, which is a balancing method for magical powers predominantly, where abilities can be 'prepped' which essentially involves charging an attack in some fashion before unleashing it in a secondary post (think solar beam). The only caveat being you can prep for as long as you want, and magical defences may also be prepped. Numerical superiority in prepping constitutes your ability overcoming your opponents in a direct head-to-head fashion, in that way diverse magical powers are balanced.

Most of the balance in this basically comes down to ensuring you and your opponent have characters that are roughly equal in strength or equipment. This is the most difficult thing to do usually, as it requires you to match-up themes or you have disparities between ordinary men with pistols and magical ninjas with flaming katanas, where the ordinary man with a gun still wins through merit of guns being OP as hell in this sort of setting.

Anyway, you can check out T1 Eden rules here. http://www.roleplayerguild.com/topics/87170-t1-eden-era-and-t1-modern-5-different-takes/ooc#post-3062213]

Other than that, the best way to learn how to -do- Arena fighting is just to read some fights. There are plenty of styles that people use, I'm more technical, I write actions exactly as I mean them to be interpreted with some fluff in between to give an idea of what my character is feeling or thinking, some people tend to go more down the fluff route without really describing their character's actions that closely and leave it up to the 'rule of cool', others are predominantly technical and believe fluff is pointless. It's really up to one's tastes.

@MelonHead
I think I'd be a technical person but I'd go to fluff being I'm not good at describing things thoroughly.
MelonHead would you like to judge a battle? I'd like that. how would I go about setting one up? Not saying I have time now for it, but there's a spot to fill an app and list it right?

Find an opponent, decide on the characters you'll both be using and the setting, and then go to the Arena sub-forum and create a thread, make it ranked if you want, or unranked, I'll judge whatever you want. Then you start. If you're using T1 Eden establish that, T1 Eden requires the first poster to introduce their character, describe their equipment and appearance and their location, but not mention their opponent (unless agreed upon beforehand) or their location. The second poster does the same but they can then dictate where their character is in relation to their opponents, usually this is handled by the second poster's character being out of plain sight initially or arriving sometime later.

From there, you can fight. Usually there's a round of talking before that though.

So you're the last of your people, the last of the ones who've fought in the arena who's stayed. Tell me was it all worthwhile and what was your fondest memory of the arena? ^^""

ImportantNobody pre-dates me and they're still around, but you're right in that most of the veterans have dissapeared. That being said, I don't regret it, I've had some fights that have had some genuine gravitas and that I've really enjoyed over the years. Fury and Kanitah's rivalry, while brief, was amazing. Fury managed to get all the good fights, his rivalry with General Freedom was always great for superman esque city destruction, and if I ever get to finish his arc I have no doubt his battle with Skallagrim will be excellent.

My fondest memory however was one of the most nonsensical battles I've ever participated in. Though that was entirely down to me and my insane character. It was a mess around between me, Khan, Skallagrim and some others where we fought as literal gods. I was playing the god of madness, and in a short time I managed to impale someone with the Eiffel tower, explode into hundreds of tiny melonhead creatures, create an armarda of melons that flew to the music of ride of the Valkyries and have someone try and get me banned because I ate their homeplanet. It was the most hilarious fight I'd ever seen.

Oh I see , I see. Also sure I don't mind starting a fight session with you. B.T.W. sorry for this late response, wish I could get emails notifying me when something happens. the first descriptions sound pretty standard to what I'm used too, though t1 combat sounds a bit more stricter then what I'm also used to,mainly on the describing part but it's something I can learn.Also of which, how do I put up my characters for display so fighters can choose who they get to play against? SIDE NOTE: I have a very large amount of characters...

Duh, of course Fury got the good fights. If it isn't destroying the livelihoods of random mooks by decimating their homes and businesses, then it isn't being done right. High tier best tier.

Just make a thread in the character sheet sub-forum and put them all in there, then link people to that thread or put a link in your signature.

Side note: I'd try to get some images working but I don't really understand how to do it here.Does this forum use html or css coding to get the images to display in these threads? for now I'll use links to my DA
