God's Shattering

Infinitum, City Streets

Alex and Meihou would have a less than pleasant surprise when their escape was suddenly halted by... something. All of sudden it seemed like an invisible wall cut their extraction route (very likely having one, or the the two of them smashing their face against it), making a dash for freedom all the more hard.

"That's as far as any of you two will get," The source of the invisible wall of crystal revealed herself to be none other than Farris Arran, who had been waiting for anyone who attempted to escape the building, along with a small patrol she managed to gather in the meantime. "You are under arrest for resisting Imperial authority and property damage. Don't try to resist, or I'll be forced to act in self-defense."

After giving her ultimatum, Farris approached the duo, forcing them further against the wall (which was shaped in a semi-spherical shape, to avoid aerial escapes), while the other half a dozen guards pointed weapons at them. In the Royal Guard's hands she had a pair of tome negating handcuffs, like the ones the Imperial forces use to restrain the Librarians and other criminals until they can take more... permanent measures.

Fei's party would find that the word fast wasn't enough to describe the mounts provided by the feline enchanter. The hippogryphs were a true lightning, as fast as a thought once in flight and— probably not to their surprise — Si had tricked them once more. The Phantasmal Beasts didn't needed to be guided by hand, they would follow the mental commands of whoever was holding their reins. That was very convenient, indeed.

The encounter with Titania was not out of the realm of expectancy as well. Si was prepared to get back to action and rendezvous with the main group as soon as they were back in the capital, it was only natural they do so now. "You can take us, then. We may not have much time left," Si said as they got off the hippogryps before she dismissed them back to the ether where they first came from.

Infinitum, Underground

"Oneesama, take care!" Linea yelled desperately as the Giga Slime lunged at her sister.

Despite her sister's best efforts, there was only so much room in this sewer for someone to avoid the attacks of a foe as massive as the Giga Slime, obviously Sienna's luck would ran out some time. "Gah!" And so it was that the older of the Aquarian Twins was captured in the filthy mass of the Giga Slime's body, cutting off the frigid air that restrained both the humongous mass of decay and Antonia.

Despite the odds, Sienna's grin was as wide as ever as she turned to her sister and shouted, "I— I'm ok. Get ready to do your part on my signal, Linea. And don't you dare to miss!"

"Oneesama what are yo—"

"God, I know I'll had myself for this later and likely never get a husband, but—" Sienna muttered to herself before taking a deep breath, "It's all or nothing, damn it!" The older twin yelled before diving inside the Giga Slime, intent on getting to its core and defeat the putrid enemy from within.

"So— Sol? What—" Eleonor forced herself to say amid some vigorous coughing as Solanne took her out of Antonia's slimy grasp.

After that much time, even the Crimson Guardian was disoriented, especially while being deprived of her power source. The damage from the previous fights was mostly healed by now, though Eleonor couldn't really be called well, yet. The amount of slime she coughed and the fact that she was stripped of even the least piece to safeguard her modesty should be more than enough proof of that.

At least now, with Eleonor away from Antonia, they could try to end the Fallen Priestess once and for all, right?

Seyrun Leviathan
Scandinavia

"That should be no surprise, to say the truth," Seyrun began her reply to Shakespeare commentary about this tragedies being the works which became truly immortal, "ever since the beginning of our history, tragedy is the genre which captured human the human psyche the most. Take all those Heroic Spirits before our eyes, for example, it's likely that all of their stories are nothing but a parade of suffering and despair, weaved carefully so that we, lesser mortals, ca—" However, before the Norwegian Magus could elaborate her discourse anymore, she was briskly interrupted by an overzealous Tamamo who caught Seyrun — in a bridal carry of all things! — and zoomed forth to the front of the group where Siegfried waited for then.

Without any means, or will, to resist Tamamo's grip, Seyrun' parting with The Bard of Avon was shortened to a wry smile as the surprisingly fast fox moved away.

"Oh my, Tama, you are much more eager than I thought. I can only wonder how we would look if I were wearing a gown, in front of a small chapel, during a nice Summer morning," Seyrun said deviously, while Tamamo still had the blue-haired Magus in her arms. However, once they got to the city, Seyrun's smile took an all too different shape, changing from playful teasing to canny acuity as she quickly grasped the situation. "I guess we will have to leave these delusions for later, right?"

"Is there any rune stone nearby? I could very well use it to erect a Boundary Field that would grant some relief for the village, even if it's unlikely to hold against the works of other Heroic Spirits." Seyrun asked Siegfried and the guardsmen, while the rest of the group gathered together.

Atalanta, the Virgin Huntress
Babylonia

Atalanta could barely believe the sight before her eyes. As far as her vision, one of the best between all Heroic Spirits, could see, from atop the ramparts that safeguarded the land of the King of Heroes, there was only beasts of the most bizarre shapes and forms along with the occasional intrusion of magic infused humanoids. Nothing but a sea of foes circling the city but here and, as her ears told her, on the other side of the city as well.

"It's almost as if Echina's whole brood had been released at this place," the Huntress said to herself. The fire in her eyes was evident, even is this wasn't the hunt she was expecting for — at least not yet — Atalanta would not pass on the chance to fight besides the companion of the King of Heroes. Certainly, it would be much more interesting than anything that happened in the Argo expedition. Who knows, maybe after they deal with this initial threat, maybe something really worthy of Atalanta's skill would show up.

However, something still ticked the lion-eared huntress as she was about to notch the first arrow at Tauropolos, the bow she she gifted with by Artemis herself. "Do you even know who you have among your ranks, Assassin's Master?" Atalanta said to Richard as she pulled the string of and arcing her aim toward the skies, this firing stance made a great work of framing the sculpted beauty of Atalanta's back and arm muscles, a true sight for anyone who dared to look.

"I'm Atalanta, the Virgin Huntress of Artemis and Princess of Arcadia. No Caster, even the Witch of Colchis can ever be a more effective firing support than I am," as she said so, what looked like a small letter, filled to the brim with indignant complaints to the gods, became visible at the point of her arrow. "Behold the true power of Artemis and Apollo, the Gods of Archery who once struck down all the brood of the vile Queen Niobe, who dared defy their Mother, Leto," after a long winded introduction, worthy of any Heroic Spirit of of the Age of the Gods, Atalanta finally called the name of what might as well be the most tsunderish Noble Phantasm after Brynhildr's Lance, unleashing a veritable rain of arrows over the beasts that littered the field before her.

"Phoebu's Catastrophe: Complaint Message on the Arrow!"

Rhea Heimlich
Timber Moren

""

The journey to the old maison that would be housing them for the time being was, as expected, an uneventful one. For nearly the entirety of it, Rhea was left to her own devices, either silently humming some catchy tune which she didn't even remembered the source of, or turning her mismatched gaze at the countryside scenery. Truly, a ride that— while not unpleasant— wouldn't be sticking in her memory for a very long while.

When they finally arrived the task of answering to the mayor's greeting naturally fell on Johan's shoulder. Supposedly those were the chores that come with both experience and fame. Rhea was more than content to let them avoid her for some more time, though.

"I wonder if I should have brought an extra hat?" For some reason this odd self question left Rhea's lips just as their need for rooming arrangement was mentioned by the mayor, shortly before speaking about dinner. As if by a stroke of push of fate itself, a woman who owned quite an excellent hat came in her direction just as Rhea was wondering who she should approach for a rooming proposal.

The other female seemed to have a good disposition and looks, with a definite taste for good fashion, so, "If life gives you lemons..." Rhea thought, before returning the silent greeting, "why not make a meringue pie?" Shortly after, a pair of mismatched irises, met the crimson ones of the hat-clad girl as Rhea extended her hand in a self introduction, "I'm Rhea Heimlich from Comet-by-the-Sea. It's a pleasure meeting you, Miss..." which dragged out a bit, because Rhea found herself lacking a name for her interlocutor.

Chronicles of Aquaria

--"A long time ago, the gods and the mortals lived in harmony, they inhabited a city known by the name of Aquaria, the Seat of the Gods. Built over a lake that spans as far as the eye can see, close to the mysterious floating lands of Arcadia, Aquaria was a one of kind place of adventure and mystery.

It's within this unique place that this story will be told. Are you ready to take part on it?"

Overview

Aquaria was the second most important settlement, the greatest trade hub, known for its extensive book and commodities trading, and the most culturally advanced city of an empire that spammed most of the known world. However, after the a long story, the empire fell to little but scraps, yet Aquaria remained firm. The biggest city-state of remaining world, Aquaria holds a veritable trove of mysteries and adventures within itself.

It's no surprise that many adventurers never leave the comfort of the city walls, after all the city they live is full of areas to be explored. These stories will focus mostly on these adventurers.
World & People

Given its role as a major trade and cultural hub, Aquaria is home to a plethora of people from all backgrounds, races and professions. However, the large majority of the native population is composed of humans and elves, a spiritually powerful race of exclusively feminine beings endowed with fox-like ears and tail. Elves were much longer lived than humans but, given their single gender, they could only produce off spring with humans and that any male coming from such a union will be human; over the time the average life expectancy of an Aquarian born citizen became of around 150 years. Even then, elves can easily reach the early 200's.

With such a long lived populace, it's expected that Aquaria would become a cultural hub and it's. Aside from being known as the City of Water, Aquaria is also known as the City of Books. Literacy is taken seriously in Aquaria and most people have a hobby of reading. In fact, Aquaria's Grand Library is world's biggest library; said to be so vast that no one knows for sure the exact number and content of all the tomes there stored. Expeditions to isolated sectors of the Grand Library are common with adventurers seeking rare and otherwise forgotten lore.

It's not only of literature that Aquarian culture lives. Arts and music are also a major cultural asset. In fact, It's common place to name children after artistic related themes, music in special is very appreciated as a source of names, in honor of one of the city's greatest heroes of times long past, the elven knight Arianna "Aria", also known as the Knight of Gales. Education is also rather high quality. The University of Aquaria, attached to the Grand Library, is perhaps the last center of education of its level on the otherwise savage world, receiving visitors of all places on its Halls of Learning.

When it comes to politics, Aquaria is an advanced place as well. Aquaria is ruled by a council of representatives composed of five thirteen members chosen from the various social classes of the city, each with a decade long non-hereditary term of office and administered by a High Queen that holds the executive powers withing the city. The Queen title is hereditary and the royal family is composed primarily of elves descended of the knights of legend, Arianna and Sedril.

Lastly, but not least, let us not forget that Aquaria is also a city of adventure and of commerce. Everyday its bustling streets and markets get filled with people bargaining all kinds of goods from all places. There's an old saying that goes by: "You can see more of the world staying a day in Aquaria than in a lifetime of travel." In many ways it's not wrong. The city is also bustling with adventurers, who congregate in Aquaria's many adventuring guilds, which are further united under the banner of one of the two major adventurer leagues, the Wind Harpists and the Water Cartographers.
Mystery & Magic

Magic is an arcane force that exists all over the world and permeates every living being. Magic can be used to conjure and manipulate the Greater Elements (Fire, Water, Air or Wind, Earth, Light and Darkness or Shadow). All magic is composed of manipulation and combination of those elements, but given that magic is an expression of the soul of each individual, there are no two completely equal mages. Even if some basic spells can be learned by everyone, all mages have a unique expertise, though it's more likely that those who share blood bounds will have similar expertize.

All living beings (and some non-living ones as well) are capable of magic, but not everyone practices it. In order to perform the mystical arts a strong will to reshape reality to meet one's internal view is needed. All mages are capable of manipulating all of the Greater Elements. However are at their best when dealing with their Elemental Alignment and can't really draw any power from the ones opposite to their alignment.

Like with magic, all beings are born with an Elemental Alignment one of the Greater Elements, rarely will be born someone with two different alignments as long as they aren't opposite to one another. Even more rare are those who practice Spirit Arts, that is, they are bound by a contract to the Spirits --sometimes called fairies-- of the land granting them powers similar in nature to magic but that come from their aptitude to channel their Spirit's power. One can't use both normal magic and Spirit Arts at the same time, having a Spirit contract seals you ability to use normal magic as the Spirit uses their Master's mana to sustain themselves.

When it comes down to it, the main difference between normal mages and Spirit users is that the first use their own mana to power their spells, leading to a burn out sensation and eventually increasing fatigue from prolonged usages of magic. Spirit users channel power from their Spirits, which i turn do channel it from the land itself, meaning that no fatigue is incurred for magic usage, but the Spirits need rest to recharge their energies and while they are dismissed, their users' power is greatly diminished. The only exception to this are the Elves, who can channel magic directly from the land just like Spirits do, meaning that elves never run out of magic power or get tired from spell casting. Lastly, Spirit Users are generally capable of greater feats than normal mages, but are restricted to the elements their Spirits can manipulate.

Aquaria is also a land of mysteries, full of ancient ruins and barely known even for those who live into it. Really a place of boundless possibilities where the limits to one's adventures tends only to be as big as their ambition, or courage.
Character Sheet

Name: Self-explanatory.
Age: Self-explanatory.
Gender: Self-explanatory.
Race: Self-explanatory.
Height: Self-explanatory.
Weight: Self-explanatory.

Appearance: A brief description (around a paragraph), picture (anime only, please), or a combination of both, at your own leisure.

Character Concept: Describe here what/who your character is, in simple words. You can include hints of personality and back story as well, but keep it all to a reasonable size. (one paragraph should be enough)

Combat, Abilities and Skills: What can your character do? How is their favorite combat style/maneuvers/spells? What are they good in? Can they cook, play cards, pick locks or bend steel bars with raw strength? As always keep this short and concise.

Equipment and Inventory: Your character's important possessions. Be reasonable, you don't need to list every single small trinket here, just the most relevant ones, usually those your character can carry around.

Other: Anything not above that you may think that can be important, e.g. a description of any important companions, facts or places. Maybe even a song/other media that inspired you, if you feel like adding it. (Totally optional, by the way)

Sample Post/Introduction: Give us an idea of who your character is (and of your level of writing), writing a snippet about a key turning point on their life or about their day-to-day life. Don't be hesitant to be creative with locations or NPCs but keep it within the realm of the possible (i.e. no Mary Sues/Gary Stus of any type). (max. of three moderate sized paragraphs, or around 2000 characters. Don't do anything too poor but also don't go over this limit, please)
Final Word

Thanks for reading up to now --If you are reading this I guess I can assume it, right?--, this is a long standing idea for a high fantasy, anime inspired setting that I have, or better, part of said setting.

As you can see what I came up with is more of a scenario than a premade campaign --Any tabletop player would know what I mean by that--, so this setting has the space to accommodate various stories and will get constructed and expanded as that is done.

For the initial adventure I have in mind, I'm looking for a relatively small group (4~8 players) mostly up for a dungeon crawl style game. If that interests you, don't hesitate to drop by and discuss, maybe leave a CS. And if you would rather be interested in other kinds of stories, political intrigue, cloak and dagger, etc., you can leave a suggestion as well. I'm always up for ideas.

-- Thank again and have fun,

KoL.

Chronicles of Aquaria

A Crate full of Deceit

"Mysterious disappearances have been happening all through the Aquaria's East Market, during the first hours of the evening and right before the dawn.

Reports say that the last of the victims, the second son of a middle class merchant, has been seen getting dragged to the old city by dark silhouettes.

The City Guard, as well as the father of the victim, are offering a reward for those who can rescue this and possibly the other victims yet alive, or bring the culprit behind such heinous acts to justice.

Registrations to take on this mission must be made at City Guard HQ; only adventurers registered in an official guild will be admitted, bring your certificate.

--Velocchio, Captain of the Guard."

That news slip, which was posted on a good portion of Aquaria's public bulletin boards this slightly cold, early spring morning was what attracted a number of adventurers. For a reason or another, which is left to you, your characters decided to heed the call.

Now, you are standing among a crowd of other adventurers in front of the Guard HQ, an imposing three story building with a well-kept lime stone facade. A life-size sculpture representing the traditional image of Justice, one of which is headless for as long as anyone can recall, stand at each side of the main entrance, to announce to all the purpose of the building. The streets behind are as bustling as ever, with the movement of both people and goods. Nothing short of a normal Aquarian day.

Either way, this is where our adventure begins. So, what do you do now?

History: [indent]Yuuno had lived most of her life as a sheltered girl, growing up in the house of her remarried father's wife's parents without really having any connection with the conservative elderly couple, even though she doesn't hate them by any means. ... Yuuno got flabbergasted upon hearing that her cousin plays no video games, even DGO, and fearing for Yoshino's future (who at this pace, might as well become a bum, once she graduates), Yuuno tries her best not only to make her cousin play DGO and join the Bruisers, but also reveal what she knows about the Black King, who Yuuno has a bit of a secret crush for.... Not the brightest gem on the crown, but far from being the dullest, that's what Yuuno is.

"War. War never changes..." Or maybe, it does. However in a world such as the Nexus, build around it, living and breathing of nothing but conflict, there can be only so much change before one goes back to the basics. After all, history's a carousel, no matter how long you ride it, one time you always come back to ground zero.

Such is the nature of this battle, there shall be no conflicts for resources, no quests for glory, or points to capture. Just war in its most pure and unbridled form...

I N T R O
Having overcome the trials demanded by the Infamous Alchemist of Genesis, despite the great hardships and traps laid on their way, the former Triumvirate found itself once more at at a state of ease.

War was still raging all through the Nexus, of course, but the main representatives of each faction could rest for sometime, after becoming the playthings of the narcissistic genius who — perhaps — had a little too much power in her hands.

That wouldn't last, for, soon enough, another missive would reach the hands of the leaders of the three realms:

"The mystic lands have risen once again from amidst the primordial chaos. It's time to test the mettle of your best, for this time only TOTAL WAR will grant you victory.

Neither accept, nor give any quarter— as long as the blood of your foes is still running within their veins, there shall be no end to the oncoming strife."

O B J E C T I V E
Kill or capture all the opposing forces on the battlefield. No other condition shall grant the victory to any side. Only the last man standing shall savor the spoils of this conflict.

Hohenheim, The Alchemist of Genesis
Finale

And so the arduous crawl through the labyrinthine halls of the Alchemist's castle comes to an end. Even though the cost was high for some, Hohenheim's sadistic thirst for knowledge had been settled for the time being.

As a sign of the Alchemist's good will, a boon would be granted to the representatives of the former Triumvirate, as well as to the Valiant Angels of Heaven, who were literally guided by the hand of Fate through all the hardships. However, only those who completed the challenge would be awarded as such, for those few who failed to heed Hohenheim's words, a long time of being played as her new test subjects would serve as a remainder to not do so again in the future.

With all said and done, some would return home to lick their wounds and some to sing praises. The important part was that for the time being everyone would be able to bask in some much needed reprieve.

"Now then, Miss Jena, please consider our offer. There'll be a place waiting for you if feel like joining us," Rhea said to Jena, before turning to her much bigger interlocutor. "I'm much obliged, my big friend," she said with a smile stamping her face, taking a quick stroll to her luggage and retrieving both a notepad and pencil, as well as a box. The former would be used to record a sketch of the rather uncommon footprints marking the ground close to the place where Mister Kenver was last seen, while the former was the special treat Rhea promised to Uwen.

"You can keep it if you like," Rhea said, pointing to the box. Inside of it, the giant would find half a dozen rather fresh marmalade tarts, sprinkled with sweet powdered vanilla. Truly a first class treat. "If you ever feel the need for more, you are welcome to visit my humble establishment. The address is written on the underside."

Having done all her assigned chores, Rhea returned to the side of Alice just as the behatted woman brought a glass of water to the seemingly distressed mayor. "Well, that may be true, Miss Alice. However," Rhea said, approaching the conversing duo from the side, "isn't it also said that no force in nature can rival a scorned woman's spite?" She added playfully, perhaps in a bit of ill-spirited tease, before revealing the sketch of the paw mark. "Not only have I invited our possible new companion, but also found an interesting bit of information that may or not be related to Mister Kenver's vanishment. As soon as we are settled on our lodgings I shall look around the tomes I brought to see if this matches the outline of any known beast. Unless, of course, you may be aware of what creature could produce such marks, Mister Toll?"

"Thank you, Si— I mean, Corporal Hunt," Eris saluted James after he finished looking over her papers. Her posture as she waited his evaluation made clear that Eris was still tense. Nevertheless, as soon as James said that she would have the rest of the day for herself after she were introduced to the Sergeant (who, Eris presumed, was their squad's commander), she sighed a relieved sigh. At least she wasn't going to be sent to action from the get go, that was supposed to be good, right?

Seyrun Leviathan
Scandinavia

"Hmm, seems like the furor of battle is blinding all of them to the greater scope," Seyrun said, sighing inwardly, as the battle against the wolves seemed to be both progressing and drawing to a still at the same time. Thankfully her previous spell shed a ray of light on the shadowy subject, the beast that was currently skulking, displaying a cleverness all too characteristic of the wolfkind had to have something different about it, given the way the runes reacted.

Still forbidden from using her unique magecraft thanks to range limitations of her chains, Seyrun defaulted to the runes once more. In an age when the power of the Gods was still felt in the world, this should be all the power she needed anyway, even if she was far from being able to reenact all the mysteries contained in her Crest.

"Berkano, Eihwaz!"

She commanded, causing the roots of the earth to gain life and attempt to bind the wolf she had singled with her previous spell, with their hardened rhizomes. In case it succeeded, Seyrun already had three coins, containing Ansuz runes, in her hand. Even though runes are faster than normal spells, Seyrun couldn't be sure if she would have the time to draw the conflagration spell she had envisioned, using her pre-written runes would be best way to achieve it.

Atalanta, the Virgin Huntress
Babylonia

"I can see that," Atalanta replied to Richard as he informed her of the Giant Golem marching toward Uruk. Having a shot wasted by the ploy of some petty magician was a sure way to upset a huntress such as Atalanta. Good thing she could use her fury in more constructive ways, by taking down the Golem.

"Keisuke, I'll break away to help take down that thing before it reaches the city walls. The enemy's numbers should be sufficiently thin by now, but if you need me I'll get back as fast as I can," Atalanta declared mentally to her master, before jumping off of the wall, rebounding off the heads of enemies and running where the terrain permitted, closing the gap to the Giant Golem fast like a comet streaking through the night sky. Given both her speed and athleticism, it was no wonder why Atalanta deserved the title of fastest hero of the Age of the Gods.

When she crossed Kintoki's position, Atalanta halted for a moment, standing on the shoulders of the Golden Berserker as their target grew closer and closer. "Goldie, come with me, the city is well defended with just the King of Heroes' Companion guarding it. We have a bigger target to fell and I don't think I can do it alone," the savage Archer said. "I'll use my Noble Phantasm to immobilize it, But I need you to eliminate that thing in one strike. Do you think you can do it?" she kept her position at Kintoki's shoulder waiting for his reply before going ahead with her plan.

Victoire Bordeaux, the Bloody Countess
Arcadia's Outer Rim ⚜ Engaging Bonesword

""

Victoire's smile grew wider as Bonesword demonstrated the will to listen to her words, instead of going straight for the smite, leaving enough time for Victoire to assess battlefield's condition and see how bad were the odds of their faction coming out victorious. Though, even on the brink of defeat, Victoire could come up with a few gambits to try and tip the scales in their favor.

"Avaritia, there are enemies closing in very fast on your position, they are like to be the Machina on those fighter planes. Finish your quarry and try to rendezvous with me, as fast as possible," The vampire said telepathically to Henry, following then to Balrog. "Balrog, try to hold your ground, we need your power to take down the other factions snipers. Destroy your enemy's flight capabilities, if possible and throw them off the islands, or just stall until support arrives." Having finished with Balrog, Victoire turned to the one who would actually decide if they would walk away from Arcadia in one piece, or not. "Ice Demon," she said, regarding Gelgath, "quit your ramblings and join Balrog, his powers are essential for our victory. Let he die and you too shall taste defeat. Send your army to harass the snipers that are literally littering these damned islands, we cannot do anything until we are free of those furtive pests. If we lose because you are too arrogant to comply, you'll wish Ira was the one out for your head."

Having finished her mental broadcast, Victoire addressed Bonesword once more, making sure that the small pause in her speech came of as she considering her dialogue options, instead of battle coordination. "Now then, my proposal is simple. Take these and leave me be, or better yet join the side to which you rightfully belong. You'll find that this is nothing but a minor token, compared to all the wealth Hell has to offer. A swordsman of your caliber certainly would be very well appreciated on our legion," the demonic vampire said, being careful to not show any apparent signs of being an immediate threat as her backup plans where slowly being put into motion. Even now, some of Arcadia's islands, hit by the stray seeds Syphax blew away sometime ago, were beginning to sprout her rose fields, soon enough her deadly mist would cover the flying archipelago, as her roses bloomed and spread their malignant pollen to seed the other islands.

It was just a matter of time before Victoire would be the ruler of these Hanging Gardens.
