My characters tend to be independent outsiders, or even criminals, more often than not. People that don't really fit into any group, not necessarily because they don't want to, but because their lives just took turns like that. I love those types of characters when they appear in movies or books as well. Independence is a great trait. Some of my favourite characters that I've played also had some very strong convictions or beliefs that they wouldn't budge on.
Circlejerks, where you ever only see one side of an argument and the participants pretend it's a discussion.

Alyx could tell Erica had broken away from the herd as well, and was coming after her. She had rearview mirrors on her bike, but the connection with the princess itself had been what told her that someone was closing in behind her. It was a simple guess and glance in the mirror after that. She could try to slow Erica down if she wanted to, dump mines onto the track or fire at one of the crumbling buildings to make it fall. It had been a long time since Alyx had used any offensive weapons though. There’d be no competition for her if she did, no worthy opponent if she killed the only one on this backwater planet.

The old buildings had a certain novelty to them for someone who hadn’t spent all that much time on the planet. Sure, she’d seen them before, and places like this one as well, but they often made her wonder what had happened there to make everyone leave. Had it been some kind of natural disaster which resulted in damages that no one had the resources to repair? Any inhabitants would be forced to abandon their homes.

She almost hit rubble the size of a boulder because she hadn’t focused entirely on the race, but swerved in time and took a minor hit to the back of her bike. The lasers made a crackling sound as she hit it, probably tearing small parts of the rubble away and leaving dust behind. Alyx had the princess back under control before long, but by then she’d lost her lead. It didn’t worry her that much. She doubted Erica could keep up the speed she was going at for the rest of the race. Her bike wasn’t of the same quality as Alyx’ princess. She’d push her bike to the extreme, and when it undoubtedly failed her Alyx could speed past. The question was how long that would take. Either way, all Alyx had to do was stay close behind Erica.

A grin appeared on her lips when she thought of a way to attack Erica in an offensive way without any chance of accidentally killing her. She honked, and a loud signal blared out from her bike. It was a bit of a surprise even to her how loud it seemed to be, but she would keep at it just to annoy Erica and make her lose concentration. Honk, you’re in my way. Honk, could you please move? Honk, I have places to be.
Not remotely interested in that sort of thing. At most I might check a potential partner's writing that way, or whether they're likely to ditch, but I would never do it just to read. There's so many books I've yet to read, written by skilled authors and actually edited, so the idea just baffles me.
When several people post in your 1x1 thread, despite that it clearly says don't post here. PM me. The worst are those who straight up tell you to PM them. Are you serious...? Thanks for making it clear you didn't read the thread.
Avani shook her head when Kasai was confused about why she’d asked about her pockets, and sighed somewhat loud. Oh joy, the cop was so distracted by a half naked woman that she couldn’t even notice that. It was a bit embarrassing, and she wondered what her cop friends would have thought. She could see them reacting the same way. In reality though, if she shifted some blame onto Kasai it would probably be easier to get away with how she had lied about not knowing Iluq and that her ex would tell her all about them if given a chance.

“What do I get out of it?” Iluq asked, putting her hands on her hips and leaning defiantly forward towards Kasai.

“I won’t beat your ass if you give it back. That’s what you get out of it.” Avani threatened, and reached for Iluq, but due to her decreased depth perception or because she’d spoken too soon, Iluq managed to dodge her hand and step out of reach. It felt odd when she had never had trouble catching the quick waterbender before. She shifted her foot, and sent a wave that made the ground shift under Iluq’s feet. The waterbender lost her balance and stumbled, but didn’t fall.

“Fine, fine! She can have it back. I was just teasing.” Iluq shouted to make Avani stop, but she was hesitant about actually giving back anything that she’d rightfully stolen from a clueless target. Silly girl wouldn’t have known about it if Avani had stayed quiet. Things sure had changed since they used to spend every day together and rule the streets.

She put her hand into one of her pockets and took it back out with what she’d taken from Kasai, plus a bunch of coins and a few pieces of jewellry she’d gotten earlier the same day. She had a surprisingly large amount of pockets sewn into her clothing. It certainly helped to wear as little as possible to prey upon those who were distracted by an attractive young female.

“Oh, we don’t really. It was a long time ago.” Avani told her girlfriend to make her think that their relationship had been nothing special. Did she need to lie? The worst part was the thought that Avani really believed what she was saying.

“Haaa…” Iluq playfully punched Avani’s arm. “Well, it may have been a long time ago, but we were inseparable growing up. She made me think we’d be together forever, and then she stole my heart. I guess it wasn’t that valuable though, as she moved to another city without much of an explanation.”

Iluq words created an awkward silence, and she kind of wished she’d kept them to herself, but out of spite she wanted this new girl to hear about what had happened.
