Urgh. Bloody thing.

Sorry guys/gals, this is the first time I was able to get online since earlier. Unfortunately, there's not enough time left in my day to move things forwards, so it'll need to wait until tomorrow.

Provided that the Guild doesn't keep jipping me over tomorrow evening (GMT 0 17:00 onwards), we'll have this ball rolling again.

Thanks for your patience :)
Interested.
Well, the dust has settled for seven hours, and so now I think is an appropriate time to bring this very valued, constructive and indeed essential discussion to its conclusion.

I would like to thank Dinh AaronMk for taking the time out of his day to express his own ideas of how this RP should be going, and why it should be so. I always appreciate discussion that ultimately affects an existing system. In fact, as Dinh seems quite interested in this whole set up we have, I'd like to give him my full permission (no strings, no sarcasm or nastiness) to take everything we have here, and start his own RP so that he can shape it in a way he feels is more correct.

Furthermore, I apologise for my initial reaction. It was unfair of me, and I am sorry for throwing my rattle out of the pram.

Sadly, this RP has already started. No matter how logical, or illogical as the case may be, the arguments are for the Yakima Republic to be refocused on the ancestral peoples after which the county of Yakima is named, it would be impractical for things to change so drastically now. So unfortunately, I'm going to have to say that we're keeping the idea of multiple cultures living under the same flag, as opposed to a Native American-style state. I will not defend the idea we're sticking with, but I will say that at the time of me creating this RP, and after the research I put into the geography of Washington State, Yakima County seemed like a rational area to place a population. Perhaps I was wrong.

If this has suddenly become a deal breaker for anyone, then I apologise for any inconvenience, and they have my full blessing should they wish to leave the RP.
Now that's out of the way, is everyone (who is still with me) ready for things to progress? I'm not going to waste my time on something that has possibly died over night, so I'll need some "Hell yes'es!" if I can :)

Aaron likes to argue, none of it is meant to offend. Chill out and just talk, dawgs.

It's more about how unnecessary and rude the whole exercise was.

But I'll leave it there.
Unfortunately, the nuclear bombs of the Great War, and the consequential fall out, to excuse the pun, decimated the original inhabitants of the area. That's not to say that the Yakima Nation is non-existent, but rather, that the area is is dominated by a multitude of peoples and races originating from other areas of the United States. The Yakima Republic's name is based entirely on the Old World county in which it is situated, as opposed to the Native American peoples that once dwelt there. We have super mutants, ghouls, robots and humans all living under the Republic's umbrella of racial diversity and special interest.

The whole appeal of the Republic, to the various peoples that form it, is that it accepts everyone so long as they can contribute to it, and die for it when the time calls for such actions. Such an appeal brings groups from far and wide. Imagine a land where you and your fellows could go and live, with relative security, so long as you paid your dues and accepted the established political system! It's a better alternative to the dubious NCR policies.

If needs be, I can create the Republic's history so that you can all have a better understanding of how a collection of raider gangs, traders, tribals and vault dwellers formed a mutual security pact called the Yakima Grand Alliance, which then evolved into the Yakima Republic some decades later and sparked a civil war with elements of the Alliance not willing to lose their independence.

It sounds better than some Native Americans somehow surviving two centuries of nuclear fallout, if you ask me.

But hey, don't let me tell you guys how it is. I just made the RP, what do I know? Excuse me whilst I go and invade someone else's' RP, and make an arse of myself for ... whatever reason I need to propel my inept soci... no, I'm sorry, I'm getting angry over nothing. Please, go ahead and stir the debate. I can take the Republic in a more Native American direction if you want, though I feel it's a bit late in the day for any major changes.

With the bridges down, it's possible the NCR decides to call it off for a while. You don't to have them commit more forces. Things have not gone to plan for either side. Both the Yakima Republic and NCR are in need of reconsideration and a change of plans. Hathaway fucked the Yakima Republic over as much as he did the NCR when he took down the bridges. I'm looking forward to see how that bit of treachery is handled. Though I am worried I'll end up regretting it ;P

Hahaha, this is true. I'm considering all options, but just because the YR is in a dicey situation, doesn't mean I'll go easy on it. I'll reread everything tomorrow, take notes and then formulate the situation in what I perceive to be a credible and rationale manner.

Thanks for keeping this thing together guys, I know the guild's erratic behaviour hasn't been helpful.
I'll give peeps til tomorrow to let me know they're still in, and after that, looks like I've got some serious re-deployment issues to deal with.

At the moment, with Nexerus and Zell the last guys on the eastern front, it's possible the Commonwealth will push us out of Sunnyside. Unless Boerd reaffirms his presence and prevents the whole thing from collapsing, given that his men are the only ones really capable of smashing the 7th Freedom Brigade in offensive operations. If he doesn't, then I think the rangers will be left to hold the borders against a Commonwealth counter offensive, whilst Zell's raiders are redeployed to the southern front.

With the NCR assault from the south threatening to overwhelm a shrunken YR military, the President will likely convene a crisis meeting between the republic's highest officials. If we find ourselves lacking in players, then I'll likely increase troop allowances and budget investments more so than I had planned to cover the short fall. But we'll deal with all that tomorrow, once I know where we stand.

Just something to keep in mind.

Had I foreseen the guild's issues, and related absences, I would have left the NCR's sudden arrival for a while. Ah well, that's war right? Nothing ever goes to plan.

Get ready Feigling, your delegation may decide the fate of a nation in my next post, for we shall finally have our long awaited and dramatic audience with the King.
Adjutor Insula

Good and Evil. Honour and Ambition

Gombas awoke to the crash of lightning in his legs and a blazing fever in his mind. His eyes forced themselves to open through a thick layer of sleep dust, and watery shapes floated across his vision. The bed he was laying on, although comfortable, jolted with every second. He quickly realised he was still in his carraige, but before he could ask what was happening, a damp cloth smothered his face.

"Blurgh," he spat, using arms full of lead to beat off his attacker.

"Captain, the Templar awakens," comes the stern voice of a woman.

"Move aside," it is the Captain to whom Gombas entrusted his life. "Templar, can you hear me?"

"Yes," Gombas said with a cracked tongue. "Water."

There was some comotion before the cold clay of a water jug reached his lips, and a pair of mailed gloves hoisted him upright. It was at that moment, this his hip ignited in a blazing array of pain and damnation.

"Faran's bowels," Gombas shot, wincing with the intense burn of a fractured hip. "Am I dying?"

"Perhaps," the woman said, moving in to bat his face with the wet cloth once more. "Your hip is fractured, along with your knees and shins. If your blood does not suffer the taint, then you may live, but will never walk again." She said matter-of-factly.

Gombas was an old man on a divine mission. He needed no legs where he was going. "Where are we?" He asked.

"Approaching Love's dockyard, where the King is mustering his army," the Captain replied.

"You are turning me in, Captain?" Gombas asked with a sigh of sadness.

"No," the Captain replied. He stood from the bench of the carraige, and waved a hand over a wooden rail. Templar Gombas could not see what was being pointed at, but he suddenly became aware of a thousand beating feet upon crafted concrete. "We're going to war, Templar, to end this madness once and for all."

"We must not drive our country into civil war," Gombas said, sitting himself further upright despite the pain. He fixed the Captain's blue eyes through his visor. "I will speak to the King, before the soldiers. He must allow me that much. I will show them what he is, and they will no longer follow."

The Captain shook his head; a patronising yet hysterical grin hidden behind his helm. "It is too late for words I'm afraid. Even if the King were a mass child rapist, fear has swept our country like a plague. Everyone looks to Marcus for their safety; vows have been forgotten, lessons burned. Holy men now reach for the sword, and the less savoury, reach for a sceptre. Our country is ended, Templar, lest we can stop the King here and now."

A single tear rolled from Gombas' left eye. "That I should live, to see this come to pass. How can so much happen in such little time? Centuries of institutions, charity, love and preaching smashed by an evil man's lust for power."

"All should fear evil men, Templar Gombas, for they oft cause the end of many things," the Captain said, but then he leaned forwards. "But there is a greater evil, that we must fear most, and that is the indifference of good men."

"I have little love for philosophy now, Captain," Gombas muttered. "My people will murder themselves, and the carrion will pick the remains. Dump me from this carriage, so that I may die like the broken fool I am."

The Captain shook his head. "I cannot. You have stirred the last of the Insula's true guardians to action, Templar. I have spread the word of Lady Aticus' condition quickly, and many are outraged. Furthermore, the King was unwise to disband the order. Thousands flock to your banner, and Faran willing, I will lead them to victory in your stead."

"No," Gombas sobbed, suddenly losing control of his emotions. "No one dies on my behalf. No one. Kill me. Pursue your own designs for death and destruction, but do not use me as an excuse. Faran guide me!"

"War is happening, whether you like it or not, Templar. I will save this land, and it pains me that your mind, like your body, has broken. Rest easy, Templar, for I understand your suffering," the Captain said with finality. He turned to dismount the carriage.

"Wait!" Gombas cried, and the Captain turned his head to the side. "Take me to the King. If I cannot end this travesty with words, then you may end it with the sword."

The Captain sighed.
