All the while, while others discussed and spoke at Craig's place, there had been one quietly already sitting at the table where they were all congregating. One who's emerald-like eyes gazed quietly on the others while simply slipping his pages forward to Craig while others were arriving. This young man was one who was a common sight to those who were regulars among Craig's inner circle. Was he nice? Possibly. But he was sure as heck studied. The young man wore a light blue collared shirt, buttoned all the way up, paired with a simple pair of straight blue jeans which simply continued to accentuate his "nerdy" look. Albeit one that was well-tidied.

All the while, as others brought in snacks, he simply snacked on what seemed to be some chex mix which he kept to himself. Sugary snacks were something that were not sufficient fuel, in his mind, and he even kept a cup of coffee at his side, a black cup. He was here to have fun and enjoy himself, for sure, but there was something else on his mind, to be sure. Something which wouldn't have been apparent to Craig, even if he had bothered to check his sheets. Something he had been focusing on and debating for the last few days. After all, Craig had advertised it, and to one who often did his homework, it was something he was quite aware of as soon as Craig started telling everyone he wanted to invite about it.

And yes, Nicholas did help with Craig's homework. Why? Well, frankly put, there was a mutual benefit. Nicholas did the homework, and Craig decided to NOT be obnoxious to him...at least. That's what Nicholas thought the established order of things would be. Unfortunately, it was quite the opposite. What had begun as a few small things turned into large projects with near-deadlines which caused Nicholas' own projects to flounder and his grades to begin to plummet.

And so came tonight. Nicholas was going to get something out of this. And he was going to get something good. His sheets were designed particularly well. And the power was quite...out there, but frankly put, there was a reason, or Nicholas thought, it had been easily approved. See, Nicholas had spoken to Craig pertaining to his homework problem, and he wanted something out of it. Craig offered to let him join the game, but Nicholas asked for special permissions for his powers to be approved beforehand. After some bargaining, he was able to get -that- out of him.

And now Nicholas was going to use this to have an edge. A little something as a reward. And maybe the chance for something more. To possibly overcome Craig's traps, and maybe even break his game. But he had to be careful. Craig would no doubt cry foul if something happened that he could disprove -shouldn't- happen in the game, as he had before when he himself was a player. So he had to walk a fine line here, using every little bit of game legalism on his end sparingly. Only then, could he overcome Craig's no doubt simply-thought out campaign and maybe teach him a little respect...or in the very least, give Nicholas some catharsis.

And so he watched as the sheets were soon "critiqued", and then passed back. And then watching Craig's...overdone antics with closing off the light sources that belonged outside and locked the doors. Odd. Not something he was used to in other games quite like this, but he could at least appreciate that Craig was putting in actual effort. However, the thing he wasn't quite appreciative of was the sudden floating object, and the soft rumble below them, causing several things to fall and shatter. Indeed, the chaos of the situation was overwhelming. Nicholas had stood up, preparing to make a run for it, before the entire room was filled with dazzling sun-like light, making him raise up his hand in defense, the all consuming sensation wondering what in the heck had been put into his chex mix by Craig. And soon...

Soon, he felt himself finally lowering his hand, looking around himself. A new sensation overtook him. The feeling of glasses gently nestled on his nose, and the feeling of some different kind of clothing he wasn't akin to. He looked down at his body, realizing he had by his side a steel long sword, ready to be drawn. And more than that...oh, he felt much more than that.

He could feel the very energies flowing through his body, these strange energies manifesting themselves to his senses as a tangible force. He could feel it ceasing, dwelling, moving. The very essence of his being. Had he died and gone to heaven? Was he on some sort of acid trip? Clearly, the smell of beer, wood, and the sight of stone made too much coherent sense. His eyes slowly looked towards others after having been caught up in these emotions, taking note of these..."new" individuals' reactions. And yet...they seemed to echo the same thing. 'Craig'.

Slowly, he stood up, looking towards the others. "Forgive me for interrupting, but frankly put, it seems like we're all stuck in a predicament, if my hypothesis is true. Tell me, are we all seeing a bar and experiencing the same senses that would portend to a logically operated tavern?"
He asked, looking around them. "If this is the case, it would be wise to assume that for all of us to be having the same lucid experience is highly unlikely. Though, to be fair, our current predicament might be even more likely if that's not the case..." He considered, looking over more of his clothing for a brief moment before finally speaking up again. "Just to make sure I'm not dreaming myself, you all did write characters similar to your current appearance, yes?"
True Name: Nicholas Nelchbald

True age: 22

True gender: Male

True appearance:

True personality: Collected, Quiet, normally tame. That's the kind of characteristics you would see from Nicholas. The young man often kept to himself, not completely out of choice, but out of a lack of social skills and offerings to most people his age. Despite excelling quite well through college, he prefers not to drink or smoke, seeing such frivolities as pointless. Despite this, he can be quite curious, and enjoys certain conversations that peak his interest. In terms of romance, he was quite inexperienced, though from his mindset, that could be a good, or a bad thing. Overall, he's a pretty nice guy if you can get past his initial lack of charisma. But beware the one who finally manages to break his calm nature.

Reason for having attended the game: Well, it seems this guy is the one handling a good amount of homework for a few certain people on the side, particularly the DM's own homework. In return, the DM allowed him to join in this little experimental venture, though he has helped others in the past with their homework before.

Character´s name: Leonard "Leo" Lornell

Character´s age: 22

Character´s gender: Male

Character´s appearance:

Character´s background and lore: As a young child, Leo was bestowed upon the nature of being an Aethergifted, an amazing gift which his parents were both thrilled and concerned of. He was born to the pair of nobles who had withdrawn to a quiet village as to escape from the hubbub of city life and enjoy much more simpler things. Having grown up as an Aethergifted, Leo was an incredibly blessed young man with swordsmanship and, due to being Aethergifted, the art of the Mageblade. Taking advantage of such a gift and refusing to let it go to waste, both parents agreed that formal training was in order. As such, at a young age, he was already being brought up by his father in the blade and the local wizard in spellcraft, using both in combination in order to achieve quite the status among his people, even as a young lad.

Unfortunately for him, something would soon change that. Given the village he had grown up in was quite small, it was bound to have some unsavory personality attempt to take hold and usurp its people. This would come in the form of a dark warlock named Malren. This dark warlock spent his time usurping villagers and threatening them with his dark arts and leasing them for gold. His name was famous throughout the lands, and Leo wasn't having any of that. At the age of fifteen, the young boy went up against the mighty warlock. And to his credit, he did manage to hold his own for a little bit. But it wasn't long before the warlock smote him with darker arts, particularly a lightning bolt which effected his sight quite negatively, leaving him open for the rest of the fight. Luckily, by that time, others had joined in the fight, and they warded the Warlock off for now, but as a result, the young man required time to recover from the injury, and without a reliable cleric in the region, this had to be done naturally, and his skills stagnated. After a year or two of recovery from the intense injury to his eyes, he still required glasses in order to see clearly. Having to get used to these glasses forced him to rework his training with his sword and magic as to accommodate the changes.

Years after this, he has finally embarked on his own quest. To improve himself further, and to become strong enough to take down the evil Malren, and end his reign of terror over the region.

Character´s abilities:

Aethergifted- Being impacted as a young baby by forces beyond his control, Leo's very life essence was altered as to grant him with incredible capabilities for magecraft and even the very shaping of the essence that controls magic itself. As such, he is quite keen to learn and control magic and even mana and aether, the mysterious substance by which magic is even possible. He also has naturally glowing eyes, causing him to be able to see in front of him in the dark for some distance.

Mageblade Class- Being both proficient in swordplay and in magecraft, the combination of both has created quite the formidable opponent. He is able to channel different magical attributes into his swords and weaponry, allowing him to create and enhance weaponry to be far more deadly. For now, he is simply able to create a fire-based sword.

Aetherblade- Being Aethergifted and being exceptionally gifted with magic, Leo is able to draw from his very nature and create a blade of pure magical energy, not aligned to any element beyond its own. This special blade is not effected by armor, and instead aims specifically for one's life force instead of one's physical body, making it quite potent, allowing it to harm someone without the need of physical damage. Think lightsaber, except able to go through armor.

Weaknesses- Despite his capabilities, Leo is not physically all that strong, only as strong as most working men on average. Beyond that, his glasses are a large target to anyone who wishes to debuff his sight and cause his life to be much more troubled.

The DM was terrible at his job and let everyone toss their own ideas into this mess. What poorly thought out ideas did you contribute?:

The possibly OP race, Aethergifted. Aethergifted is not a race that is born or can be passed on. Rather, it is what happens when one is born and comes into contact with the aetherial plane while still young. It is incredibly rare, almost chaotic, and it seems to have no true method of being trackable in terms of occurence, except that it does happen to those who are quite young. Those effected by this are blessed with incredible aptitude in magical and supernatural studies, their very natures allowing them far more skill and aptitude with such abilities. The downside to this is that, again, they are quite rare, and without proper teaching, the actual nature of Aethergifted beings can get out of hand, causing hysteria in cities where someone who didn't know they were Aethergifted lost control of their capabilities and accidentally let loose raw mana into a tavern. Lets just say its not a pretty sight. As such, they're both feared and lauded as incredible individuals, and both great adventurers of olden tales and great warlords have had Aethergifted among them from time to time.

I have expressed interest prior. As such, I will be posting a character profile very soon. Looking forward to it, folks!
I just realized that this was a thing. Jeez. Is there still room to join now?
I am mucho interested in this, if you wouldn't mind. Do you mind if I start making a character sheet and submit it?

Edit:edit- I have changed my mind, still interested!
I have interest in doing an original romance/fantasy plot with potential anime elements if that's alright. I sent a PM to you pre-emptively, but for the sake of formalities, I figured I'de hit you up here. : d
Well, well, well. This was a surprise. Elizabeth was nowhere to be found, and David had no one supervising him. No Aliira to protect, no one telling him what to do or to return to his quarters. Not that this was rare, but rather Aliira and Salem both were guaranteed to be absent. Perhaps it was a chance for him to do some snooping...

Except for the fact that as he made his way about the Guild, guards were still posted, particularly around Salem's Offices. Dang. So much for that idea. He had really, really wanted to see what the Guild was really up to, but every time he got close to seeing if there was some dirt that would truly paint the Guild for what he knew it was, he was either caught and punished, or he had to abandon his position to avoid the aforementioned catching. He wasn't about to risk it tonight, as well, given the lack of patience the Guild likely had given what had been revealed. On a normal infraction, he got the tar beaten out of him publicly as an example to others, but on -this- night? He would be getting much worse treatment if he had. Instead, he had to apply his mind which had been endowed with curiosity elsewhere.

And that's when said mind was hit with a quite obvious realization. In fact, so obvious that it caused him to stare dumbfound down the hallway he was walking as he paused. The Library. Why the heck had he not checked out the Guild Library before? It was so obvious. And the best thing is, the Library was open to all Guild members. He would most likely not be bothered at all by anyone with authority unless they knew exactly what he was up to. And even if they did, what proof would they have? 'What's this? I'm not allowed to read this book? But its the Guild's History, it'd be a shame if I didn't read about the Guild's Heritage.' And what the heck could they say to that? Not a single dang thing, as far as he was concerned. Still, if they wanted to, they could still get him in trouble, but it was highly unlikely, and if he did find something, he would be further enlightened to this place's true nature. Or rather...the proof of such a nature.

And so, he continued on into the Library. As he walked into the Library, it looked rather typical, boasting a couple of stories in height and many books, but it wasn't the Great Library of Alexandria. He shrugged, making his way towards the History section in a typical fashion, not really drawing any attention to himself as he looked through the books. At first, nothing truly caught his eye. A little bit about the history of mages here, magic impacting non-magi history there, but then something caught his eye.

The Salem Witch Trials

(docs.google.com/document/d/1l0cvHFade…)

Now. This would be much more interesting. He quickly picked up the small book and opened it up and passed through its pages silently. As he read through it, his eyes caught several things which his mind clenched onto. The Guild had a non-intervention plan before? So when the Dark Shadow acted before, they had done nothing until it effected them? How selfish was that? Typical Guild. He continued reading on, considering the facts at hand, and clenching onto the things that truly interested him. He was already aware that the Dark Shadow had taken Salem's father, but he had no care for that. They took -his- family away, after all. Though, there was a little tinge of guilt as he thought about that. Losing family was...no, don't focus on that. Focus on the task at hand. His eyes dashed back onto the pages in front of him and he soon relaxed back into his quick reading habit, one he was quite accustomed to.

And then immediately, his eyes turned to slits upon three words. Three. Words. Which made him absolutely infuriated, his usually calm emotions erupting for a brief moment, as he clenched the book tightly. Magical. Anonymity. Mandate. With that, David felt the sharp pain of anger, as his thumbs seemed to imprint on the pages themselves as he just barely managed to keep his anger in check. After a second, he finally relinquished his anger, sighing and pushing it away mentally. That stupid, stupid mandate. If he had his way...no, don't focus on that. Back on the book.

Now, the covert operations Salem and her group were doing were interesting. At least someone was doing something to stop the group, though, he was sure the Guild was only doing it out of the idea of survival of their own kind rather than for the sake of non-magi...ok, maybe they cared a little. But they certainly contradicted their actions with their much more foul deeds. As he continued on reading, he found it all more typical. Salem was angered by her father's death, of course she would do her best to dismantle the Dark Shadow. Though something did catch his eye. Aloysius and his senior leadership got away. How very peculiar. So there were other members that escaped, and they must have rebuilt the Dark Shadow together. He somewhat wondered how they knew to escape before this happened. Perhaps there was a double-agent in their midst? He wondered just how many got away.

As he continued reading, he took note of how harsh Salem's punishments were, slowly raising his right eyebrow in surprise. Jeez. And he thought he got it bad. Salem really was revenge driven. Death for -that- many people was...sad. He understood why, but...even he couldn't help but feel a little bad for them. If he saw the world as other magi did, he would even be tempted to wonder if the Guild wasn't at all the darker force working against the true light that was the Dark Shadow. But make no mistake. He had no such sympathy for them, or the Guild. To him, they were both the same in the end. True, one was more preferable to the other, but they both imposed their wills on others in a forceful way that deemed them superior to non-magi. And he had some real issue with that. The only difference was that there were some small glimmers of light that defied the attitudes he saw in the Guild, one of which he was happy to be assigned to, though he hated admitting it sometimes.

But then, the end of the book caught his eye. 'TimeCubes'. Now that was an interesting item. Aloysius' personal history? If he could get a hold of one, maybe he could find some -real- dirt on the Guild. Something that would expose them for who they really were, underneath all the talk of protecting non-magi. But then, they were in Salem's possession. Likely heavily guarded. Ungh. No thanks. At least...not yet. Maybe someday. He then quickly closed the book, putting it away, and made his way back to his quarters silently. He was feeling tired, and he didn't want to stick around here for much longer than he needed to. But he was thankful to learn a little something. he would have to keep an eye out for these 'TimeCubes' in the future. And so he headed home, to retire for the night.
Ah. A normal morning. Sitting in his small apartment in New York City, the young man by the name of David was simply enjoying a cup of tea and enjoying the day off, wearing a plain t-shirt and a pair of baggy cheap blue jeans. Certainly nothing stylish, but it was cheap, comfy, and what he preferred to wear when he was relaxing at home. Well...as much as a home as he could consider it. He briefly peered around the room, making sure things were in order, before sighing in relief. His family's bible was on the table, properly maintained despite its years, everything was put away in the closet, save for a shirt or two he hadn't bother to throw in the washer yet, which sat lazily in a pile. He accepted this as good enough. He'd take care of those later, anyways.

As he finished his cup of tea, he turned on his TV screen, looking to see if anything worthwhile was on. Notably, he avoided the news, because he already had to deal with the Guild. He didn't want to hear what the newscast were spreading around. He eventually settled on something immature. Classic cartoons. He leaned back against the chair he was sitting in, closing his eyes and simply relaxing. There was no point on simply focusing on the cartoons. It was just meant to be background noise, something for his mind to focus on instead of recurring thoughts of regret and anguish. Yawning lazily, despite having woke up a mere two hours ago, David allowed himself to take a small nap. Sleep was one of the few things he enjoyed. Despite the occasional nightmare, it offered him a great deal of relief and freedom from his current situation, and his brain didn't have to dwell on it, either. And so, he dozed off, his arms and legs going limp in the chair as he didn't snore, instead breathing softly...

Until a couple of hours later, he heard his phone go off. David groaned in response to this sound, quickly waking up and sounding rather irritated. He knew all too well what this meant. Guild business. Did it always have to be guild business? Well, to be fair, it was the only reason he was given the phone. He halfway wondered if the darn phone was one of the ways they tracked him. He unlocked it after pulling it from his pocket, reading the message in question and sighing. A meeting tonight? Ten sharp? That was rather uncharacteristic with such short notice. Might be something interesting...but then again, why did he care?...Still. Aliira was likely to be there, and if he didn't show up as her guard, he might just be in some trouble with some of the same guild members that dragged him into this in the first place. He did -not- want to be punished again.

And so, he reluctantly got up, moving to his closet and pulling out a black, light jacket, putting it on and adjusting the buttons along the front of the overshirt, as well as getting his things together. Time to move out. He wasn't usually one to be so prompt, but he knew he had to be, or risk being punished again. And he did not want experience with that again. He slipped on a black pair of tennis shoes, before making his way out the door. At least he wouldn't be considered late this time.
@Zakattacks Accepted, throw him over.
