Fair enough. I think I can start working on a character.
I'm still around, waiting to see how active this is before I commit to a character ^^
Thank you, I will keep all of this in mind ^^

I'm willing to fight with things that aren't swords too. I can figure out how to use weapons I'm not particularly good at. Google is a click away. I may expand Florian's inventory to allow for this. I will also make sure to specify gear and such, and let the other person introduce their character. I do think my counter would have worked had I, you know, read things properly. At some point, when I'm better, I'd like another spar with you, to see if I've been able to apply what you've told me.
Please do, that would be amazing
@MelonHead is that conclusion okay, as far as Brennus goes?
Florian blinked as he saw his attempt to make a grab demolished. He had miscalculated the gladiator's range, and now found himself with a point dangerously close to his face.

He stopped and raised his free hand to the air.

"I yield!" He exclaimed, theatrically.

The gladiator glared at him. Florian dropped his sword. Brennus seemed to understand, and loosened his guard somewhat.

Florian bowed and turned to the audience. "I have been bested. Truly, Brennus is a formidable opponent. I would like you all to know Lucian's tavern, close to here, offers delicious meals at discounted prices. He said tonight everyone would have free wine!"

Cackling, Florian turned again to salute his opponent briefly again, then threw himself off the stage.

Lucian wasn't going to get off this easily.
I've caught up with the first page of IC, but I will skip to the last, in this case. I will definitely make a student. I have an idea in mind already.
Yup. I will be sure to read carefully and make sure I understand fully in my next fights. It can be sometimes tricky to transpose actual combat situations to text, there's a lot to keep in mind I'd otherwise take for granted.
While I medieval I don't german yet. My hall uses italian treatises, being italian. You're right, I did not correctly visualize what he was doing and got punished for it. A cut over the blade would be a very strong counter, yes, but I assumed that he had lunged to his full extent so I could do what I did.
No problem ^^ I'm new to the Arena, it makes sense that I write myself into unfortunate situations. I miscalculated distance, in this case. Fatal mistake in real life, fatal mistake here. I'll get better at envisioning things.

edit: at least beat Florian with a flair.
