While Muzkane focused more on his tools than on his surroundings he was aware of the presence of the others so it wasn't a big shock when someone approached him to ask something. What did surprise him was when said person didn't seem to know what was going on, it meant his assumption about this being a simple job was wrong, or this human was horribly uninformed. "Well, I thought I was asked to make a sculpture for the Queen but this seems less and less likely.

Hoping that his lack of knowledge meant he could go back to focusing on his tools without seeming rude Muzkane focused on his tool again before quickly finishing the job and putting them away. Since he was done and free to talk he faced the human again. "You don't happen to have any ideas as to what is going on yourself, do you? He doubted it since the human asked him first but it never hurt to be sure.

Five days ago

Muzkane had just finished working on his latest sculpture, a simple small tortoise with a shell made from Apatite. Personally he wasn't too enthusiastic about it but it was what the customer asked for. As he was cleaning his tools Hinrew walked in, using the backdoor and not bothering to knock. Muzkane was surprised by the unexpected visit but not by old master just walking in, the older dwarf was always welcome after all.

"What brings you here?" Before answering Hinrew picked up the tortoise and inspected it, before putting it without a word. "Queen Saphros herself has commissioned me, but it involves traveling so I opted to send you instead." Muzkane was silent for a bit, Hinrew choosing not to travel wasn't unexpected, even for a dwarf he was old but that was still quite an honor. "Of course I'll go!" After Hinrew had left Muzkane cancelled all jobs he had, since the queen naturally took priority.

Now

Muzkane hadn't know what to expect from the journey but being guided blindfolded into a room aboard a ship definitely wasn't it. The water was just rough enough to make him feel a bit queasy but he didn't feel like he was at risk of throwing up. Wanting to take his mind off things and prepare for whatever the queen had for him, he decided to check his tools again, even if he already knew they were all in good shape. He placed all his chisels, rasps and files in front of him and carefully looked over each one.

Muzkane

Name: Muzkane
Race: Dwarf
Age: 123
Text Color: Orange (f7941d)
Special Skill: Sculpting. Muzkane is a sculptor and thus makes sculptures out of stone. He also has some experience with gemcutting as he uses them for his works. Any dragon bonded to him would likely have chisel like claws, a hammerlike protrusion at its tail and maybe control over stone or a cutting wind breath.
Ambition/Dream: Muzkane's main goal is to become well-known for his sculptures, both in and out the Dwarven lands. That said he also hopes his people will keep and use more metal since it can be very useful, and not just for working with stone.
Personality Traits: Muzkane prefer to let others be the center of attention but he isn't afraid to speak up if he feels it's necessary. While he can get along decently with most people it takes time before he trusts anyone, especially if they have betrayed his trust before. He is fully aware that he can be overly proud of his sculptures but he is open to constructive criticism, which he actually prefers to false compliments.
Childhood: His childhood was pretty typical for a Dwarf, living not only with his parents but their friends and children. He wasn't the most popular of the kids but he wasn't bottom rung either. His tendency to let others take the spotlight quickly earned him the friendship of Derjat and the two dwarves would stay close for their entire lives.
Adolescence/Training: Muzkane spent about three months working with gems, due to just going along with Derjat and it being the most common work. It was only after several deliveries to Hinrew's shop that he realized he was far more interested in working with stone than gemstones, though he did enjoy gemcutting as well. After switching career paths and realizing how useful metal tools were he became less and less interested in following traditions with no good reason. It was also during this time that he fell for the scam that made him more distrustful.
Adulthood/After Completing Training: Having trained under Hinrew for sixty years Muzkane had both enough money and connections to begin working for himself. Even so it took him a while to make a name for himself. Luckily his family/friends were more than willing to support him during that period, and in return he used his foraging skill to at least help out with food whenever he was low on money. Eventually his business started doing better and better and his skill became known quite well in the Dwarven Kingdom

Notable Figures: Hinrew, his sculpting/gem cutting teacher. Derjat, his best friend and gemstone supplier.
Character Themes: Stone, art, nontraditional.
Character Tragedy: When Muzkane just started out as Hinrew's apprentice he let himself get scammed on a "good deal" for gems, using his master's money, which turned out to be decently made forgeries. Hinrew forgave him and he has managed to pay the money back but it made him wary of scammers.
Character Flaws: Muzkane tends to consider any tradition he doesn't see the point of as outdated and unnecessary. He also has a bit of an ego about his sculpture skills/talent. Growing up with plenty of other people around means he isn't used to being alone but he also tends to be distrustful of anyone, especially merchants, he doesn't know.
Hobbies: Sculpting, gambling, reading, drawing, drinking, foraging for cave mushrooms,
Appearance: Muzkane is a typical gray skinned Dwarf, but his hair and beard are dyed red and his eyes are gold colored. He wears simple leather clothing inlaid with small red Spinel stones.

@Duthguy I’m a big fan so far. The foraging for cave mushrooms is a nice touch. Is there anything he likes to sculpt in particular? Does he prefer to sculpt useful things? Or more artistic things?

Thanks, I wanted a hobby that wasn't just more art or typically dwarven but would still make sense. He sculpts artistic things, I hadn't even considerer the option of sculpting useful things.
