fateful spread
or: card games in millenial cycles

Skeptical, are you? Just scraps of cardboard, you're thinking. Well, I tell you the future can be known! My predictions never fail! And I predict for you a most interesting future, indeed. Look, look at this. It is Death. No, don't give me that look. It's not what you're thinking. You're not going to die, probably. Possibly. I give it fifty fifty odds. No, this is just an ending, but where there is an ending is a new beginning and I tell you truly something is beginning. Something big. Look here, it is The Tower. What does it mean? Well, anyone else would tell you calamity; a warning; chaos in your future. Well those people are hacks. You hear me? Hacks! I will tell you what the future truly holds, and it is this: the time has come for the Game to begin anew. You're giving me that look again. It'll make sense soon, I promise. In the mean time, I suggest investing in a good bulletproof vest.

That'll be twenty dollars.

let the game begin

Fateful Spread: basically Highlander with a tarot theme. Welcome, all you distinguished roleplayers, to another exciting roleplay opportunity. Today's theme is: tarot cards.

It's been a long time since the Fortuna last played their Game. Theirs is a Game not for fun or mere material wealth, but for the very fate of the universe itself. Having chosen the site of their Game, the diverse Hundreds City, the spirits of the tarot have dispersed to begin the preliminary stages of the Game. The rules are simple:

1. In order to participate, a Fortuna must form a Bond with one and only one human.

2. To Bond with a human, a Fortuna must offer it a boon in the form of a magical card representative of the Fortuna.

3. A Fortuna is not required to inform a Bonded human of any particular details of the Game, however neither is she barred from doing so. Some Fortuna may find it advantageous to withhold certain information.

4. If a Bonded human loses its card or is otherwise rendered no longer able to participate (i.e. death), the Bonded Fortuna has lost the Game.

5. A Fortuna that has lost the Game may continue to participate in an advisory fashion.

6. The last Fortuna with a Bond is the victor.

7. The victor will reign over the world as the major tarot influence until the next Game begins.

With their eyes on the ultimate prize of unmatched influence over the world of humans, the Fortuna now scatter to seek out suitable partners. The fate of the world hangs in the balance as twenty-two ethereal beings search for their champions...

will you play the game?
delightful. i am always happy to participate in a plot driven story, but a sandbox is also fine. as to communication, i've no preference either way, though i will say that i am more reliably reached via discord than through rpguild notification...
hello i would be interested in such a scenario

Name: Akilia
Element: Plasma
Mask: Kanohi Bharai, Mask of ROCK (Mask of Elemental Stone, but...) (Powerless)

Gender: Female
Appearance: As is typical for Su-matoran, Akilia is colored from head to toe in yellow, white, and plasma orange. She stands confidently at a height above many other matoran, and together with her asymmetrical mask she can have a somewhat intimidating aura.

Occupation: Akilia hauls fuel and materials around for the Su-Congro furnaces. It's not the most amazing job in the universe, but it perfectly suits someone with Akilia's apparently boundless energy. On her off hours, Akilia is a champion slag surfer, and a capable musician (though unappreciated in her time).

Description: Of all the possible words that might describe the Su-matoran Akilia, the best is probably simply: "Big." She is loud, outspoken, and not a little impulsive. She's not the type to keep things to herself, or to keep herself out of other people's things. Nonetheless, she has a reputation for being a generally decent person. Physically, Akilia is in tip top shape, and is regularly among the top contenders in the slag surfing competitions in Ta-Congro. She also likes to ROCK OUT, and will take just about any opportunity to unsling the guitar on her back and start tearing it up.

Tools: Just a guitar. But it's a really cool guitar.

iiiiiii

am looking at this

allow me a moment please o ~oa
hoo boy lookit that turnout! i think we got a good number here so

the people that will be playing are:

scarifar, as uktar, the wise god of the smithy

general scales, as caractus, the old god of progress and patron of scholars

darkwolf, as orfai, the god of fancy titles

pathfinder, as manus, the god of creation and decay

dead cruiser, as kun, the large and in charge goddess of life and the sea

and cocotina, as zambura, the goddess that is responsible for the fumigation i had to get a few years ago

and of course myself, as a goddess of nature who can be found posted in the pantheon already

hivekiller i can respect the colors and you definitely get points for style for that but i think your particular writing style would not fit in well with a casual rp. but thank you for the interest! i hope that you will find another cool rp to participate in, or possibly get another chance to join in on this one once we enter the dawn of civilization!

and also thank you muchly for the kind words, @Rhymer!

now then, everybody may post their profiles to the pantheon and i will get everything formatted properly and an ic starter post will be forthcoming on the morrow
Name: Naja Naja, Deity of the Wood

Domain: Trees, Wilderness, Exploration, Nature, and all that draws sustenance from the land. Notably, Naja Naja does not have any particular influence or interest over agriculture. She also claims minor domains in inspiration, creativity, and passion.

Personality: Being one part untamed wilderness, and another part spontaneous action, Naja Naja is a difficult deity to pin down. Never the sort to stop for a moment, she can be seen spreading her not-insubstantial influence far and wide across whatever she may claim as her territory. Naja Naja does not care for artificial barriers and boundaries, and all else being equal will tend to seek to erode or destroy them. Her machinations are nigh-unstoppable--being, as she is, a literal force of nature--but a good story (with romance!) can divert her surprisingly easily. In her capacity as a goddess of inspiration and creativity, Naja Naja typically functions as a muse to mortals regardless of her coworkers' insistence that she please stay on her side of the fence they are trying to lead a civilization to glory here and this habit of filling peoples' heads with unpredictable ideas is making it very difficult. She can occasionally draw the ire of less patient gods for this reason.

Appearance: To mortals, Naja Naja will typically take the appearance of a large female mortal, with skin the color of fertile soil and clothed in garments made of wondrous foliage that changes with the seasons and breathtaking flowers the likes of which have never been seen and will never be seen again. Her arrival is heralded with exotic birdsong, and flowers grow wherever she treads. To her peers, she is much the same, but here prefers to robe herself in galaxies and announce her entrance with supernovae.

Symbols: Flowers, particularly alyssums, white carnations, and clematis. Sometimes associated with certain instruments as well. Depictions of Naja Naja are most commonly rendered in gold or polished wood.

Trivia: No, she was not, in fact, responsible for the collapse of any major civilizations, and she would appreciate it very much if you would all stop bringing that up, thank you very much.
