I had real life concerns arise, but seeing the events that have transpired during my brief departure, well, I wish to tell you a story. Please bear with me, as it is a lengthy story, and while it may seem vague and tangential I do have a sincere point. I am speaking from the heart here, something I never do on these sorts of forums as I am often mocked and ridiculed, just as I am for my overly formal tone. But I feel that it is time I came clean.

When I was a child, my parents took me on an international holiday to New York. While I was there, I saw Grand Central Terminal. As a young girl at the time it was a truly profound experience. Coming from Melbourne Central station with its four platforms it was truly the largest collection of trains I had ever seen gathered. My parents took me on one of the trains travelling out of Grand Central and it was a life-changing experience. There was another time where I traveled to the Grand Canyon for another holiday and much to my surprise there was a train that did take others there. Fortunately for me, my parents, knowing my fondness of trains booked us a ride on it. It is a childhood memory I will always cherish, mainly due to the friendly interactions I had with the conductor. Around the time of year when we went, there were not as many people aboard the train. A member of the waiting staff, who was amused at this odd young foreign girl's fascination with this method of travel, was able to help me get a chance to meet with the conductor before he set the ride into motion.

When I remember my father before his illness claimed him, it is always of his vibrant smile as he watched the conductor teach his only daughter how to operate the train. You must understand how important that is to me.

From that time on, I have always had something of a predilection for train rides. Much like Sheldon of The Big Bang Theory, it is how I prefer to travel. I catch a train to work. I catch a train to visit friends. I catch a train whenever I go on holiday. I have often been compared to Selphie from Final Fantasy VIII, because like her I truly adore trains. The toot toot of a steam train is truly a calming, meditative sound. In fact, I have to admit, this calming sound has caused me on occasion to pass the stops at which I intended to disembark from the train.

I have been on many trains in my lifetime. Private ones, dingy city ones, all that sort of thing. Before I dropped out of journalism to pursue STEM studies in that dreadfully male-dominated environment I even worked as an assistant to a documentary team in the Russian countryside, and their trains vary between streamlined and efficient and horrendously unsafe. Yet, even though I have had many bad experiences on trains during my lifetime, there is no place I would rather be than travelling on one. It should come as no surprise that I am actually writing this post on my laptop, on a train, heading to work. Even though it is at a strange hour and being on call is a frustrating experience for many, the trips to and from work happen to take the edge off for obvious reasons.

But, it seems that all my many years experience with trains could not prepare me for the amount of railroading present in this dungeon crawling adventure. If the precedent set by the previous thread remains with regards to player agency (that is, the complete lack of it), then I cannot participate in this roleplay in good conscience. Good day.
I am in.
Well three people had just left, leaving only the treasure hunter lookalike and the robed man. This would not do!

"I had better follow them!" Marc promptly declared. "They have no idea the danger and excitement that awaits them! I'll fill them in on the way! I hope to see you there once we reach the dungeon Lady Tanya, Miss Sophia!"

And like that he was out the door, pursuing Al, Wykes and the strange fox lady. Still unarmed and unarmored. "Wait, wait!" he called after the departing trio. "Before you leave, I must gather my equipment! It is at the orphanage, see. I have been staying with them, as they will be receiving my share of the reward!" Once again, Marc Ferrus was daft enough to try and explain everything to everyone at every time.
My apologies for the delay in posting. I have had other concerns arise. I hope to continue tomorrow.

What is the status of the timeskip? There is little point in me doing anything if we are loitering, waiting for it.

She lacks confidence in her ability to deal with mortal injuries. Not repair pre-set broken bones.

More importantly, Marc just randomly grabbed someone doing healing magic. Grabbing people during a delicate matter is generally not an advisable course of action. I would assume that doing it during any sort of healing action is a REALLY bad idea.

... also, wouldn't 'grab the shy person to reassure them' seem like a bad idea if he's supposed to be a kind person? She's not a stranger, so he'd know it's a bad idea. And if she WAS a stranger, it'd be rude in general. <_<

He patted her on the shoulder as he spoke.

You seem to have confused a grab and a pat on the shoulder.

Please clarify in your character sheet the nervousness and lack of confidence regarding mortal injuries. This is, quite literally, the first I am hearing about it, and I have perused all threads to ensure I did not miss it.

EDIT: Removed potentially inflammatory comment. It was uncalled for.

Fixed the name issue, it's late and fit his last name. >_>

Reassuring people that they can do something they're confident they can do is condescending. :/

And yet there have been comments about Sophia lacking confidence with her powers, especially in the most recent thoughts from Tanya. A man with a kind word for everyone would of course try to boost the confidence of one who lacks it.

Of course, if Marc Ferrus is mistaken, then he probably would come off as condescending without knowing it. But I attribute such things to him being daft.

Do you have any further concerns?
Also, is Marcus SUPPOSED to be unlikeable and condescending? He's really coming off that way.

You continue to call him Marcus. That is not his name.

He is being written as a typical knight in shining armor, with all the overly friendly and somewhat daft tendencies it implies. Should you wish to see him as unlikeable and condescending, that is your prerogative.
"Fear not, Lady Tanya!" decreed Marc from his abnormally tall perch. He was not the diminutive lady that stood by his side! Over the heads of his cohorts, he spied a dashing looking individual, dressed like a treasure hunter and quite well armed for her station. Wonderful! "There! A treasure hunter! Truly she will help us in our noble cause." Calling out to the lady he would later learn was named Liliana, he spoke loudly. "My dear lady! Please! Join us in our adventure! We are most pleased to have you with us!"

Who else could they grab? Marc was just the meat shield on this adventure but he didn't let a little thing like that bring him down. Not when there were so many strange and wonderful people to meet! "Well, there is also this fox lady!" he said, verbally mangling the race of the strange woman tending to the drunkard's wounds. "And the man with the magical staff," he said, nodding to Leander, "though he does look a tad blue. Perhaps he needs cheering up?" He laughed at his own joke before continuing. "And the drunkard, and the man who put the drunkard through a table! All worthy allies, assuming our fair Miss Sophia is able to tend to the woman's wound."

On that note, and satisfied that he highlighted all of the individuals he deemed worthy for the cause, he kneeled down next to the drunken, injured woman and the two tending to her. "Miss Sophia," he said, his voice warm and caring. "I know that you worry about your powers, and that you underestimate your confidence, but please know that we believe in you. You will do fine." He patted her on the shoulder as he spoke. He hoped that would reassure her enough to work her wondrous magic.
