Floating through the hazy void of neurons waking up from an unexpected sleep, Jack noticed blinking through the thin skin of his eyelids.

Red. White. Red. White. What was this?

And why did his bed feel so stiff?

He was lying in an uncomfortable position, as if he was bunched up somehow. A mental check-up on his physique immediately told him that something was off about one of his legs. A weird aching in the left one, to be precise. It still seemed to function, although there was a definite dull stabbing whenever he tried to move it. And the lights in front of his face were unforgiving, constantly changing at a fast pace, bringing him closer and closer to consciousness until he eventually opened his eyes. Immediately he registered two things.

Firstly, he realized why his bed was so hard. It wasn't his bed, at all; rather, he was lying belly-down on the cool, smooth floor. Secondly, the origin of the light. There, just an inch or two away from his face, was the small, holographic rectangle projecting from the wristband he was issued upon stepping foot onto C-10. It was used to contact housekeeping, message other C-10 occupants, change the music stations in the fitness room, and other important and/or miscellaneous actions of the like - including keeping track of all vitals and physical statuses of the wearer. Switching from its red and white backgrounds, the screen alerted him:

INJURY DETECTED
CONTACT MED BAY?

The message provided a harsh contrast from the rest of his surroundings, which were all bathed in darkness save for what light reflected off their white surfaces from the hologram. Whatever the emotions or thoughts that were dancing around in Jack's mind, he became certain of yet another thing as he considered his environment; he was, for some currently unknown reason, inside the closet of the fitness room. It was home to unused equipment and a few broken ones, as well as a first-aid kit that has yet to be touched.

Try as he might, our Mr. Cunningham can't remember how or why he was stuffed into this familiar but usually irrelevant space. Or what had caused this injury that his wristband was so eagerly going on about.

Suddenly there was a scuffing noise from outside of the door. It continued, until it stopped, sounding as if it had halted right outside of the closet. And then -

Knock knock.

Alright, I'm gonna start writing the first post. It may be up tonight. I already have a framework in mind for how I want to move through this first part of the game, and all I ask is that you just follow along. If it eventually gets confusing, let me know; but I have ample faith in you haha.

Brief background:

It's 2053. Planet Earth's surface is pretty gross and decimated from nuclear war and global warming and all that good stuff, so people dug deep into the ground and set up life down there. Contrary to popular belief, the communities are clean, luxurious, and way futuristic. Humans live alongside AIs and can cook meals with the press of a button. Eventually (and predictably) people got restless and bored with being stuck underground and decided to fully commit to exploring the opposite direction: up in the atmosphere.

Your character signed up to participate in the first fully-functioning space station put forth by the government, akin to a huge cruise liner. Only 500 people were allowed onto the station, including crew members. Signing up meant you agreed to live in this station for the next fifteen years. It's been nine so far.

C-10

The station you are living in is called C-10. It's gigantic, and while you have seven years worth of familiarity, there's still something new every day. There is an AI built into the ship's programming; it's name is AM-5. She is there to make sure the ship is running smoothly, and is "captain" of the mobile AIs that inhabit it. The human captain of the ship's name is Roger Dawley, and you know him because everyone knows him.

There are two levels on the ship - the top for all of the living quarters, the bottom for cafeteria, gym, control room, med bay etc. There's even some sort of police station, in case anyone gets too rowdy at the bars. You have a room all to yourself, and an access key to the gym as part of your occupational perks.

The meals are great; laundry is done by the AIs; even the elevator music isn't too terrible. All-in-all life in the station is just fine.

Hm, this is all I've got for the basics. I'll just keep updating this!

This will essentially be a choose-your-own-adventure game, and I'll play all of the NPCs that come up. We'll build the world together, so if you have any suggestions for anything - I'm all ears.
Tentatively tossing my hat in for Armsman (or armswoman).
I mean, I've only just begun reading it yesterday haha. So I'm still pretty squeaky clean when it comes to knowledge on this, too.
Peeking in to ask if there's still some space in this shindig?
Warm welcome, @Aquanthe! Happy writing!
Fancy seeing you here, @JBRam2002. (:

As an aside to everyone, I've gotten my hands on a copy of the book and am reading up to catch up on my commute. Cheers!
On the contrary, I've got no expectation on number of posts per week! It's whenever we're free to do so. I find it's more enjoyable to play when we're not stressing about deadlines, so I'm very lax about posting as long as we communicate. I'm hoping whoever hops on board feels similarly when it comes to this.

But I will definitely give you a shout if I've come up empty. Please do the same if you feel you've got time and are still itching to be passenger! @JBRam2002
