Hey guys, just to let you know, I'm still definitely a part of this. However, this week has brought me several exams in a few of my college classes, plus work and all. Give me a day or so to get my IC up. Please, do not wait up for me, so continue on, shouldn't get too far along in the plot until I pop in. This is too cool to die. Keep it going!
I await your acceptance. Revisions shall be made accordingly.

Friar Harris Of The Lord:

Character age: 56

Physical information:
Friar Harris is a round and rotund man. His appearance alone tells you how opulent and greedy he is. His very high social status among the mountain folk allows him to take as much food as he wants (which is often way more than he needs). Even his brown colored priest tunic is spattered with bits of grape juice from the various wines he consumes on a regular basis.
His face is red colored and chubby, giving most the illusion that he is a gentle and jolly man. His hair is showing signs of hair loss, but since he shaves the very top of it in true friar fashion, it doesn't seem to matter otherwise. His hands do, however, show signs of hard work in the past, as they are scarred up and tough. There is also a long scar that runs from his forehead down just past his left eye (too close for comfort, he would always say) and down to his cheek. It's from a time before he was a man of the lord, where his greedy nature would get him into tavern brawls.

Psychological information:
Anyone around the villages would tell you that Friar Harris is a greedy son-of-a-bitch. He is a devout worshiper of Myar, the God from which the Lands of Myar derive it's name. Though Myar worshipers are still quite common, the resurgence of scientific ideologies and advancement, coupled with the pure hedonistic and downright buisness-like the way the churches and priests are run, are leaving many to abandon the religion. This makes Harris furious. It is said that Harris has killed people before, seeing as how hot-headed and self-centered he is. Most are cautious around him. He is known, during his brawling days, to be good with knives. He can also sing a mean Dies irae with his booming monk-like voice, something he picked up in the Myar-Choir.

Biography:
Harris was born Harris Of The Craft, to a family of carpenters. His childhood ended early, at age 7 his father beat and murdered his mother right in front of him in a drunken fit of rage, and continued to raise Harris until his death when Harris was 17. His father's evil personality certainly rubbed off on Harris, as well as his carpentry. Harris Of The Craft would help raise barns, and other various bits of housing and businesses for many years to come.
Now in his mid-twenties, Harris developed an alcohol dependence, and would often be found in local watering-holes, getting plastered on different types of Myar-produced wines and bourbons. His reckless behavior found him trouble on a weekly basis, often getting involved with loan-sharks and small-time crime syndicates. This is where the rumors of murder take place. One fight he was involved with, which was over a woman named Aliesha (the only woman you could say he fell in love with). Aliesha was already taken, and in a confrontation with this woman's man, he earned the nasty scar that came close to blinding him on the side of his face.
Soon, his carpentry work found him involved with constructing a Myar cathedral, where he decided to take up the faith. Eventually over many years working his way up the religious corporation ladder, and becoming a friar, which is considered a high-priest in the Myar religion. Many of his days anymore see him participating in orgies and performing seedy business activities. One day he came across a poster describing the new Void team, reconstructing ships from the olden times. Obsessed with proving and spreading Myar's existence, he bought his way into the team. Now, he awaits the final stages of ship-renewel, hell-bent on spreading the word of his God.
Alright, after a few days of thinking up character ideas, I've decided on a mad, religious-type, who is aboard the mission in order to:

a.) spread the good word to any aliens he comes across

b.) meet his God. (Whether this God is real or not is decided through collective roleplay. I vote "no")

I want him to be a bit of a burden, heheh

sound good?

Char-sheet will be up between tonight, and tomorrow morning.
Well, I just stumbled upon this and can confirm that I'm very, very much interested. Will be creating a character soon. See you lads in the chilling spaces beyond Myar!
@NowIGiveUp Don't worry, it's not going to be a full blown tabletop. Nothing is going to be complicated. For what I have been thinking so far is all the players have to do is rp normally. I however, decide who the thing will be and pm that person. A series of my public dice rolls (though nobody will know what for unless I pm) will determine the outcome of things where I will act as a narrator explaining the events that have taken place. Oh. And of course, the thing will spread unbeknownst to everyone who is not one. Spooky.

Also, this should have 10x the interest it has at the moment...

I absolutely agree, if I do say so myself. It's the perfect scenario for a good horror game
I'm gonna lay a delicious bump for this thread. Buuuump.
ah, don't worry. This is the main selling point I'm after. You're right, it wouldn't be any fun if everyone knew who the thing was. This is why I'm considering it a (lite) tabletop game. Not complicated, but some behind-the-scenes stuff is going on. I'm checking out a fan card game that's based on the movie that uses a mechanic like that, and I think I'm going to try to interpret those rules somehow as a base.

Well, I may not have all the fancy stuffs like some have to try to get you hooked into playing, mostly because this is just an idea. So bear with me on this.

Okay.

So if any of you have seen the 1982 horror movie "The Thing", I wondered how cool of an RP the concept would make if done correctly. For those who haven't seen it, the idea goes: A group of scientists stuck at an Antarctic research outpost are slaughtered one-by-one by an alien creature 'the thing'. But this isn't any ordinary or conventional alien from your typical sci-if horror flick. This monster has no form. It's a pile of flesh and bone that digests you alive and then uses your DNA to replicate your form and behavior, masking its identity for its next unsuspecting victim. Now, as you can imagine, the paranoia in this movie is off the charts. Nobody knows who's real and who's a thing. Not even the viewer. I thought, with some sort of mechanic, this could make for a really cool RP that invokes the same paranoia into each one of you players.

So I decided, after a long time of inactivity on this site, to peruse to see if anyone has done such a thing but to no avail really. I still don't have a clue if someone has done this concept, but if they have, well, here's a new one. Possibly. So maybe with some support, this RP can become a thing for us to enjoy. Lemme know if you're interested. Any ideas are strongly welcomed as well.
