Honestly, I don't get the grief given to SAO when there's stuff like Mushoku Tensei where the MC actively lusts for underaged girls. And it's the most popular isekai in Japan.

Also, it's kinda annoying going back and forth writing short replies since I got other stuff to do and that just interrupts my rythm.

Lily Flameheart

Lily awkwardly shook her hands with the ghost girl. It was still odd seeing someone who looked like she should have a cool and collected personality be really shy and awkward.

She noticed how cold her hand was. So this was how a ghost's skin felt. She had never met a ghost before so this experience was a totally new one for her. She knew about them for sure, seeing how ghosts were one of the most popular monster race out there, but somehow there wasn't any in her parents' territory. Perhaps they were afraid of them. If they started to scare the villagers, their guardian dragons would surely act after all.

"Ah, you want to go to the dorms. Then, let me take you there, Odette." Lily smiled. She decided to postpone her complain about her rooming with Edward. She just wanted to help her newfound friend to find her room.

She led Odette along, back to the way she came from, but not before shooting a glare at Edward. She was really not in the mood to humor him right now.

@Rune_Alchemist
"Sure. You can tag along if you like," Leila replied with a smile to Kythe. At least someone else was also tired like her.

The walk to the inn wasn't that far, and soon enough, they arrived at the place. It was a seemingly average inn, not too empty but not too crowded either. When they arrived however, there was already someone else talking to the innkeeper, so they had to stand behind her waiting for their turn.

Hmm, white hair... That's rare... That attire also shows that she must be an adventurer of some sort... Well, it's not really that strange to find passing adventurers in big cities like this...

Miki was quite peeved when Roxy snatched her card-pulling duty from her. But when the mysterious man made his presence known to the three of them, that thought quickly passed away as he quickly pulled her attention. She was always like that; quick to forget her anger if something else came up.

Even at a glance, she could tell that there was something odd about the man. The way he carried himself didn't make him look like he was another participant. That hunch was soon proven to be true when he announced himself to be the examiner of the test, a fact that took Miki quite by surprise even though she already knew he was something different.

He then congratulated them for being able to reach this place. She had to agree with his comment about it being not an easy task. It wasn't only the heat that challenged her. There were also some unruly creatures lurking in the sand that she had to beat by kicking them really hard in the head. One of them even dared to grab her feet, something it quickly regretted as she quickly did her spin to break free, ripping apart its grabbing tongue in the process.

It was nothing she couldn't handle though. Her grandpa would laugh if she had difficulties fighting againts monsters that weak. They couldn't even use qi, which made a skilled qi user like her far beyond their level.

She was lucky she didn't catch any sandstorm though. Even if she could stay on her feet thanks to her qi ability, her vision would still be limited and she might become lost as a result. She wasn't particularly learned in the arts of trekking through the desert so it would be terribly difficult for her to get to the test site if she strayed from the common path.

And besides, she would hate having sands inside her clothes. It wasn't like she could just strip naked and clean them out here, not with so many people around.

She looked at the examiner expectantly. She was getting excited for the test, as well as some other contestants in the crowd who were already getting bored from the wait.

Liliac de Blanc

Liliac followed Leon, though she quickly fell behind as her legs were shorter than him and she had more trouble pushing the dolly containing her luggage. To her annoyance, the boy left her behind as he hurried on after realizing that the ceremony was about to start.

Well, it's not like she really cared that much about it. She was used to do everything by herself in this academy after all. She could push her luggages just fine last year. No reason why she would need help this year.

It took her quite a while to reach the hall. She noticed how there were already a lot of students there. Certainly they had arrived here earlier than her. It was like that too the last year. She arrived right at the last minute before the headmaster began his speech, thanks to her problem with her luggage. Thankfully, this year, she arrived in time it seemed.

She looked around, trying to find a good spot where she could see what's in front of her. Thanks to her short height, in comparison to the other students at the very least, even when she stood on her toes, her sight would still be blocked by the taller students in front of her.

She hated this. Once again, it made her feel self-conscious about her build. She remembered when she was younger where her parents would take her to a festival in which there were crowds blocking the view. Her father would lift her up and carry her on top of his shoulder. As a little girl, she was perfectly fine with it, but now, when she was already a young lady, it would just be an embarrassment.

They also blocked her of the view of the Sun Hall, which was a terrible shame as she loved staring at the magnificient room. The aesthetics simply oozed the grandness of magic. Whoever designed must have a great taste in architecture for sure. And the choice to add ambient buzz and pulse, along with the slight change of temperature in random and a little wind coming out of nowhere was brilliant as well. They simply added to the mystery of the room.

And so when the headmaster started his speech, she couldn't see him on the podium at all. But his charasteristic voice and speech were enough to tell her that it was indeed him who spoke. He told them to legend of the Magi. Of course, she was well-versed in this legend as well. She didn't know whether it was true or not, but if it was, then she had a secret wish to become a Magi herself. She imagined being able to cast powerful spells after powerful spells, without needing a familiar for the source of her power. Imagine the freedom she would have from that power!

Then, the ceremony finally started. Once again, she had no idea what the people getting called looked like. Not that she cared. She wasn't the kind of person who would go out of her way to remember the faces and names of people, especially those that had nothing to do with her. She only waited until she got her turn. She only hoped it wouldn't take so long as she just wanted to get this over with.

She heard Leo being called before her. It seemed he got a girl as his partner, judging from the name. Well, she wished the best for him. Judging from his personality, he would be best with a calm girl just like him, she thought.

"Liliac de Blanc and Marth Carter!"

Finally, it was her turn at last!

So that was the name of her partner, huh? It sounded like a boy's name for sure. Hmph, she just hoped he was more of the quiet kind rather than the flirtatious, teasing kind, like most of the boys in her classes last year. What a rowdy, annoying bunch. She remembered how they would call her cute and doll-like behind her back, like she was the class mascot or something. Some of them even dared to ask her out just for a dare with their friends, which she coolly refused.

She quickly headed out towards the podium, by going out from the line she was in first. However, somehow she ended up right in the middle of the crowd, so she had trouble escaping from all the taller people around her. Meanwhile, the headmaster kept calling her name over and over again, adding to her embarrassment. No doubt her familiar already reached the podium before her.

When she finally got out of the crowd, she hurried towards the podium, half-running. Indeed, her familiar was already there before her. Now she certainly looked like some clumsy girl, which was certainly not the first impression she wanted to give to him.

She looked at him, noting his looks and features. First of all, he was quite taller than her. Not as tall as Leo, but still pretty tall nonetheless. She had hoped she would at least get a familiar as tall as her, but she knew it was quite a distant possiblity as another person with her height was quite rare indeed. His face was calm and collected, and a litte aloof as well. It seemed she wasn't the joker type, which sat well with her.

"Greetings." She curtsied towards him. "My name is Liliac de Blanc. I hope we can work together well." She stared at him, waiting for his response.

Marianne looked around at the battlefield atop her mantis. As she had expected, it made short work of any rats that got close to it. Their skin and armor never stood a chance against its sharp scythe claws. It could easily bisect them without any effort at all. And if any rat was lucky enough to swing their weapons against its legs, they would find that its armor was not so feeble as theirs.

Unfortunately for her, she didn't realize that those rats were merely acting as a distraction, as the real threat sneaked around inside the mantis' range unnoticed. Indeed, one of the assasins' managed to get close to the giant insect, even to the point that it climbed onto its back, heading straight for where Marianne was, her being none the wiser. It would have not given its presence at all if not for the horrid stench that surrounded its filthy body. But even with the odor, it still moved quick enough that when Marianne noticed something terribly smelly coming from her, it already was ready with its pair of poisonous blades.

And, when Marianne turned around to see what was behind her, it already launched its blades like a pair of scissors towards her neck.

Her eyes widened as wide as they could go, her face quickly turned into that of horror. She could only watch as the rat's blade inched slowly towards her neck in slow motion. They said that in the moment of your death, everything would slow down to the point that you could watch your death coming, without you being able to do anything about it.

Her reflex automatically made her swing her dwarven axe towards the rat. It wasn't any skilled attack. It was merely a desperate and sudden move, done without thinking, as she had no idea at all that an attack was coming.

It was too late however, as the rat's blade thrusted more swiftly than the speed she swung her axe.

Now, this was the part where why a bond between a beast trainer and their creature was so important. It made the creature they tamed willingly sacrificed themselves to protect their master, even if the master themself didn't order them to.

This was exactly what happened, as Marianne's beetles swarmed to her neck near instantly, the moment they detected a change in their master's body. It was not a command Marianne ordered, as she was too much taken by surprise to think properly. Instead, they acted by their own instinct, as their instinct worked far faster than a mind of a human like Marianne. All those hours spent with them clinging to Marianne's skin taught them the subtle changes that happened when their master switched to a different state of mind. They could tell when she was happy, when she was nervous, when she was scared, and, most importantly, when she was in a mortal state of shock and terror.

Thus, with their bodies, they acted as a buffer to stop the blades from touching Marianne's neck.

Now it was the rat who was taken by surprise. Here it had a clean surprise attack to its target, but suddenly, these bugs came out of nowhere and blocked his assault.

And that surprise was enough for Marianne's axe to connect with its body, sending it down below to join its brothers who were distracting the mantis.

It didn't die of course, as the blow was weak. But it was enough to foil his almost fatal attack towards the girl.

The beetles that protected her soon died, whether it was from the blade's sharpness or the poison. They dropped like dead flies, some of them going to Marianne's lap, some of them got stuck on the mantis' body, and some of them fell down to the floor beneath her.

Marianne could only sit up there, still in a daze. Her brain was still freezing, trying to process what just happened.

She would need someone to snap her out of it, quickly, as the rat she just repelled would surely go for a second round if she didn't order her mantis to kill it first.

So, do you want to post first or should Liliac just go on ahead?

Ok, makes sense.
@tipssyCalibrator I thought you're gonna post first, so I didn't post.
Victoria Luxemberg

"Anoo~ That didn't answer my question at all..." Victoria replied back to the Entertainer. But it seemed he was too excited to respond back.

In the end, she really had to be the one doing this, it seemed.

With a sigh, she resigned herself to her fate. She just hoped the battles ahead wouldn't be too tough for her, and that she could return to her world in one piece. It wouldn't do for her students to never meet their teacher again after all.

And then she remembered. The mid-term exams would be in four months from now.

Add "returning back to her world before the mid-term exams" to her wish list.

"Ara~ I should have mentioned that to Mr. Swirly Head Man..."

And so in the end she followed The Entertainer without complain just like the others did. After entering the corridor beside the assembly hall, she noticed people with military uniforms walking past them, giving them (or at least Mr. Swirly) a salute every time they did so. She now knew that this really was a military base, even though Mr. Swirly had been acting quite casual in front of them.

They then entered a large atrium, filled with even more soldiers. A curious silver sphere hovered in the middle, with a single flight of stairs going towards it. They ignored it however. Instead, they veered towards one of the corridors leading out towards the atrium. The one they were going towards was named "Portal Gate Chambers".

She could already guess what it was going to contain.

And indeed her guess was correct, as the Entertainer soon explained that they used those portals to travel between worlds in the multiverse. As he made his explanation, she noticed that his voice went straight into her head without passing through her ears, allowing an undisturbed communication even as they entered the hangar where a lot of loud machines were in place.

Then she saw it, the gates the sign was talking about.

There were two pairs of tall, steel arches on the hangar's walls. Soon, the gates turned on, after the soldiers in place scrambled to start them as soon as they entered the place. They didn't look too impressive, as least according to her opinion.

She then suddenly felt something appearing on her arm. She looked down as saw that a watch had suddenly appeared on her right arm. The Entertainer explained that the watch would tell them where the IDEC outpost was located on a world. Yep, she definitely wouldn't want to lose this watch, or else she may just end up being stranded on a world forever. She shuddered at the thought.

Their task was to find the rogue agents' base was, or at least in which universe it was located. She wasn't quite sure she would be up for the job, as she didn't fancy herself a skilled detective. But once again, she was the one who was chosen, so she just had to do the task as best as she could. That was what she taught to her students after all. Never give up in doing something even if you feel you're not good at it. If you failed, at least you could say that you already tried your best. And she made sure to show her appreciation to that effort.

There were four worlds to choose. After thinking carefully, she thought she would fit best in the medieval world of magic. She was a magical creature after all. And she had always wanted to be in a fantasy medieval world herself.

Before she departed, the Entertained added that there would be his "children" inside the worlds that may help them. But they weren't fond of the organization, so they should try to keep him and IDEC out of the conversation.

Hmm, how curious. She was going to ask for more details but she had a hunch that they and the Entertainer had a history between them. She didn't think Mr. Swirly was the kind of man who would tell them that even if they asked.
@Invader Len
Welp, I thought I can at least make Lilac's entrance post, just standing there looking at group one on the podium.

Well, if you ask me to wait, then I'll wait.
