Admittedly, the number was a piece of hyperbole. No one posts a 15000 word post. That said I do think at times I've gone less than a week without posting and been at least 15000 words behind. You have to keep in mind other player's possible reactions, and give them their chance.

Many good, hard to argue w/ comments. But I come from a tabletop background, not a collaborative storytelling one.
PCMC HQ (northern arctic) - Lecture Hall 2

Deed reached the lecture hall incredibly late. He looked around at the spattered crowd comprised mostly of his underlings. He'd already briefed all these people. He decides he'll go through the motions anyway. He has a responsibility, and nothing but time.

"As most of you know, we're facing a brand new threat. Never before has an extraterrestrial microbe posed a real threat to us. Now one does. Redactia Euripidae, we're calling it. This bacteria causes flu-like symptoms, but it's lifecycle is far shorter than that of flu viruses, so onset is far more rapid. This may not sound dangerous, but the flu has killed billions throughout history, and as a silicon-based germ, we have no effective medicinal countermeasure. We barely understand how the thing works.

But, it's killed 107 so far and may kill millions more if we can't find a way to get out in front of it."

Deed squirted the excess from a long and menacing syringe before throwing open a curtain to reveal a wide-eyed, orange-jumpsuited man feverishly struggling against restraints. As the convict sees the doctor, he whimpers audibly. For a split-second recognition is visible across his countenance, until it just as quickly slips into a mask of pure despair.
My sincere apologies to all, especially all those I kept waiting to post, truly. I'm in. I haven't even read the IC, but if it allows I'll hope to make my lecture and assume it sort of retconned into the appropriate time.
Birth Name: Dr. Deidrich Allister

Assigned Name: Mr. Allen Deed

Age: 90 (physiological 50)

Psychological Profile)
Allister is a borderline sociopath. He is a former nazi scientist and war criminal who escaped Nuremberg in the same program that naturalized Werner Von Braun, and Josef Mengele. A bit of a coward, Deidrich has a tendency to want to weasel himself into positions of secondary power.

Despite all this, he is committed to Earth, as a whole, and committed, above all else, to the Hippocratic Oath (twisted though his vision of it may be.) The Dr. Is morally well-suited to his position, having twisted but justifiable morals, and being no stranger to egregious acts in pursuit of those goals.

Medical History)
Served as his own test subject in a nazi supersoldier experiment.

The original primitive inspiration of the project was his own aggressive mapping of his unique personal genome. He thought he'd figured out how to turn people into supersoldiers. It was 1934 and he was even further on the cutting edge than he'd realized. He'd figured out how to do this to himself, without realizing it was a unique process to each subject. The project was in danger of being shut down after many gruesome and preventable deaths with naught to show for it. Convinced his calculations weren't wrong, he injected himself.

The result? Accelerated healing and all that it implies. Extended lifespan, Increased anabolic, aerobic, and anaerobic endurance. Increased strength, as workouts are far more effective (if physical exercise were more of a priority for Dr. Allister , this effect might have been far more pronounced.) Were this process to be replicated it would necessitate a complete genetic map of the individual in question, and an extraordinary amount of computation. Perhaps with the aid of a highly skilled programmer, this process MIGHT be feasible on any kind industrial level, but the Doctor has long since moved on to the other pursuits.

Dr. Allister has an irrational disregard for cybernetics, seeing genetic modification as a sort of macguffin for all human ills.

Technical Proficiency)
Dr. Deidrich Allister is, without much argument, one of the most brilliant medical minds on the planet. As a consultant for the CDC, he performed the very first extraterrestrial autopsy. He has likely contributed as much to modern genetics as Monsanto or Mengels. He is virtually without peer in his chosen field.. Additionally, an expert at General Practice and First Aid.

History With the Organization)
This man is one of the world's premiere extraterrestrial biologists. Brought on as a "consultant" with both the CIA and CDC in the late 40's, he quickly became the go-to-guy for accurate theories on alien anatomy.

A near founding member, yes, but a socially and morally backwards nerd, nonetheless. Deidrich has always been distant and detached. His enhanced lifespan has only exacerbated this. Caught up in his chosen life as a researcher, he knows less about what's really going on than some rookies.

I wonder if this isn't quite right, power-level or story-wise, but I think its a solid starting concept. Feel free to criticize and instruct redrafts at will. I'm pretty confident I've been deliberately vague enough to adapt to whatever power balance we end up with.

Also, for the record, I'm an RPer, not a neo-nazi. Heroes with questionable motives are interesting to me. I kind of hate this guy, too, but I still want him to be my char, if I can.

[EDIT:] "Quote: @holobunny: ...He might be tougher, stronger, faster than most people, but he won't be reaching superhuman levels like Captain America...."

Understood. I had intended his 'powers' to allow him to be an academic, but still be legitimate in the field. Nothing more.
I really want to go back to Alpha Complex. Classic or Straight styles preferred. I just don't have the time to run. Might be talked into co-running. Anyone else interested?
I see I might have been wrong. These complaints are largely the ones I left with a year ago. It seems most of the advanced rp's are moving at a rate pretty comparable to dead.
And sorry, at the risk of going on a rant. But, I'm having my old frustrations at how there's this almost Venn diagram of good RP'ers on this site who never play together. I'm kind of scared to join even some of these promising casual games, because I'm worried they're going to devolve into the rp'ing equivalent of overindulgent fanfiction. I'm also scared to join an Advanced game because I'm worried the second I lose track for 36 hrs I'll turn around to a small novella I'll have to work through before I even know what's going on, and then find a way to justify to myself why my character hasn't acted for something like 10-20 chapters. I'm a voracious reader, but anytime you get off work and someone tells you have a responsibility to get through 90000 words tonight, because your post is due, and you're 10 people's 2 pg posts behind... That's homework. That's a chore, not a hobby. I don't' know. I've always liked this site, but I wish I could find more of that middle ground between those extremes.
Thanks for that information, friend.

In response to your second paragraph, I still reiterate that as a post approaches a certain length, it robs othe players of the ability to collaboratively storytell, by preventing their opportunity to inject themselves into the narrative at an appropriate time. Though, also again, just my opinion on something I wondered about how other site patrons felt.
If not, I definitely don't have any concepts set in stone yet.
Not as new as I look. Got deleted somehow. Anyway, room for one more?

If so, could I come from a warlike race? Not because I wanna go all Brock Sampson the Klingon on a setting that's clearly trying to steer clear of that attitude, but because the dichotomy of trying to fit into the crew you asked for is appealing to me.
