Bio

I live somewhere in the wilds of East London with a couple of friends, a pet rat and a collection of RPG books that is slowly consuming our house. I've suggested possibly getting rid of some of them, but it's pretty much got to the point where the books are the only thing keeping the building upright and if I move any of them the whole thing could come crashing down.

In terms of games - well, I'll consider anything, except that. As can probably be gathered from my posts, I find myself generally playing characters that let me bit a little bit light-hearted. I am reasonably certain that I can play serious characters, but I know that getting to post things which makes me chuckle as I write them keeps me far more engaged.

At the moment, I am currently running a game called Interplanetary Space Friends. It's a game about friends, in space, travelling between planets. It is not exactly a very serious game, and while I've scared off some of my players, I have a dedicated handful left who have stuck with the game. These folks are awesome, and if anyone says anything mean about them, I will defend their honour with a strongly worded message.

I'll likely have a CS for BMO done up for Monday; this weekend is turning into quite a busy one, as "friend comes over to visit" turned into "friend is sleeping on my sofa so we can finish our CK2 game tomorrow".
Is all good, @Valor, sorry about the foncusion regarding numbers.

Am still planning to do a response post on Monday, though I might be able to sneak one in tomorrow if I can pull my sorry behind out of bed before people come over to visit.

One thing, it's not major - there's only one person greeting you, rather than a group. Otherwise, it's good.

My usual weekend message follows: I will be online sporadically throughout the weekend! Mostly in the mornings before I'm expected to be sociable, and in the evenings before I tuck myself into bed. I hope everyone has a good weekend, and what-passes-for-normal-service-around-here will properly resume on Monday with a big response post.
@FallingSkies Hey dude, you still around?

I think their last status update said that they were sick and their laptop died. So I guess we should be patient, remain enthusiastic, and wish them a speedy recovery (and a visit from the Magical Laptop Fairy).
As somebody who is kicking themselves that they didn't get in on this interest check and discussion earlier, here are my answers to the questions.

1). Multiverse or Single Universe?

My heart says "single universe", but because I'd have worries about trying to fit everything together in a way that makes sense, my brain says "multiverse". Perhaps some sort of compromise could be reached involving sticking thematically similar cartoons into their own universes - it'd require a bit of work to make these groupings, but having three or four "canon" universes might be better than everything existing in their own.

2). Sandbox or no?

Much like my answer to number one - why not both? I prefer games where there's a bit of structure, to keep things moving along. I'm not so cynical to say that people need a GM to tell them what to do, I'm sure people can come up with their own plots, but especially at the beginning of a game, a bit of gentle herding to get people moving isn't a bad thing. There's almost certainly an interesting discussion to be had about why sandbox games don't work so well to be had here! Anyway, a game in which there are "here are things to do" with the occasional bit of "sandbox time" would be my preferred choice.

3). OCs?

I'm happy with OCs, though I probably wouldn't play one. If the rule was "No OCs allowed!", it wouldn't be a deal-breaker for me.

4). What qualifies as a Cartoon Network show?

The stuff that people have listed already is a good start. If it were me running this, and it's not, and thank goodness for that as I can barely keep my own game from turning me into a gibbering wreck, I'd start the list with "whatever people want to play a character from" and go from there - if somebody desperately wants to play a character from a 1970s cartoon that was re-run on Cartoon Network, then it's in the list.

5). How will comedic characters fit?

Go Punch Time Explosion and make everyone a fighter if it's going to be an action focused game. I like comedic characters, and I'm weirdly happy playing somebody who is absolutely useless in a fight, but if the main thrust of the game is going to be "action", not being able to take part in the action stuff might mean not doing much of anything, which would be dull, and make me sad.

6). Anything else?

Could I reserve BMO from Adventure Time?
Maracun Cropman regarded Toony with the sort of suspicion normally associated with somebody lifting up the bun on a burger, folding his arms back in and resting them on where his hips might've been had his ancestors felt the need to evolve legs. Smaller antennae flicked to and fro in a rather jolly manner, even though the rest of Maracun's face looked sceptical, perhaps even annoyed. Interpreting alien facial movements without the aid of a guidebook wasn't an easy task, even for seasoned veterans of space travel.

"I'm sure this, the clothes thing, that'll be taken care of, but we best be getting inside," Maracun snuck a glance back across the bridge he'd snaked his way from, "we're on a tight schedule, got friends, uh, who want to have a word with you about this party..."
The representative slithered his way across the bridge that connected the platform to the dome that housed the city of Ofromia. Local time pinned this moment as "somewhere in the middle of the morning, just after brunch", but this landing platform currently sat in the shadow of the giant dome and so was illuminated by bright, artificial lights. Further around the dome, other landing platforms sat in darkness, waiting for their opportunity to welcome visitors or bid farewell to friends. Aside from the dome that loomed over everything, and the shadow it cast, countryside stretched out towards the horizon - woolly, lumbering creatures grazed on yellowing grass, monitored by buzzing drones. Crops grew in other fields, with little green bushes neatly lined in endless rows.

There was something wrong, however, with the representative. This shouldn't be considered a slight towards his species, although many didn't consider them particularly attractive; a flattened out, snake like species that moved low to the ground, only rearing up their front half when it came to communicating, eating, partying or fighting. A single pair of spindly, long arms folded out from their sides, tipped with a pair of unsettlingly long and bony fingers. Few people bothered to comment on their four eyes, or wide mouths filled with teeth, not because they were particularly odd, but because the most striking thing about their faces was the rows upon rows of twitching antennae. They jutted out at almost every angle, waved in the gentle breeze and twitched in response to unknown stimuli. They called themselves Prax Sitharii, but most referred to them as Twitchers. Usually behind their backs.

So it wasn't the appearance of this bright orange Prax Slitharii that was wrong, but rather his choice of clothing, which was about as ill-fitting as one might imagine clothing worn by a snake like creature to be, if not more so. The heavy grey jacket, made out of some local wool-ish fabric, looked like it ought to be on the back of some high ranking military officer. Judging by the number of sleeves, it ought to be worn by somebody with at least two pairs of arms. The representative had awkwardly folded his own arms through the upper pair of sleeves, but he lower pair hung loosely and trailed behind him as he slithered forwards, picking up dust and grime and the other assorted bits of dirt that plagued the Outside.

Coming to a halt before the assembled crew at the bottom of the ramp, he caught his breath, standing as upright as he could manage. With enough clean, fresh air in his lungs, he spread out his long arms in a gesture that was generally considered welcoming in many cultures for many reasons. Cultures that valued physical contact saw the open arms gesture asn invitation to initiate physical contact, some liked seeing the open hands that carried no weapons, while some saw it as a polite act of submission, exposing their tender underbellies to demonstrate that they pose no threat.

"Welcome, it's, ah, I'm Maracun, Maracun..."

The antennae twitched as green eyes quickly flicked around, taking in his surroundings.

"Maracun Cropman, here to welcome you on behalf of the Zane Heron Estate. Do you need any assistance unloading? I can send for, ah, some people."
Okay, two apologies - first one for the double post! I know I shouldn't do that.

Secondly, I'm a little bit rushed for time this afternoon (having a bavarois related crisis, the last time I made it was over a decade ago, and it turns out I'm really bloody rusty at it), so I am going to throw up my post now. If there are things that you needed to do for whatever crazy plans you have before disembarking, I've no problem with anyone posting a "before we disembarked, I did this..." sort of thing. Hurrying folks along isn't really my style, but I don't want you fine people waiting on me over the weekend!
I wondered whether or not it'd be so good without the visuals of the video, and after finding myself listening to it a couple of times (and then a few times more), I guess the answer is yes. It'd be a seven out of ten, but I found myself bopping my head along to the beat, and the sing-song lyrics with the fairly aggressive beat is something of a guilty pleasure, so it goes up to 8/10.

Continuing the weeb trend, and the low ratings I get from music I like...

Nothing wrong with it from this end, though I'll probably hold off until the end of the day (well, the end of the afternoon) to give Toony, Fiddlesticks and Elarin a chance to assemble themselves at the boarding ramp. It's not that I want to hurry folks along, but I know that I'm going to be busy over the weekend, so want to get a post up before I face the weekend rush.

Hopefully that makes sense!
