Hello RP Guild! It's another search thread from me, inconspicuous. If you PMed me because of one of my previous search threads and I appeared to drop off the face of the Earth I'm terribly sorry. A very rare thing happened to me: I was actually swarmed with requests. I'm not used to that at all and I got overwhelmed.... by the time I sorted everything out it was weeks later and I felt terribly awkward about replying to everyone.
I'm not anticipating it happening here as my scope is a lot more... specific. I'm looking for someone to play Doctor Strange from Marvel Comics. I'm a newbie to the comics as my entry point to Marvel was the MCU. I play Doctor Strange on the Marvel Heroes MMO though and was pretty intrigued by all his spells and quotes and stuff so I started reading his comics through Marvel Unlimited. I also know stuff about him through reading wikis and summaries, so I'm not totally in the dark... just very, very intrigued. Which in my case usually translates into 'I really want to RP this'.
I feel like in the spirit of comic books we wouldn't necessarily have to hew too close to any particular continuity. I'm a huge sucker for alternate continuities and universes so I like to imagine any potential RP as starting its own continuity and drawing inspiration from everything else. I will say I'm not really a fan of overbearing dark themes, 'gritty realism', or anything like that. I am fond of angst and shit hitting the fan but I like it to lead towards a happy ending where most everyone involved comes out at least a little better for it all. Spoilers for any comic story Strange appears in are fine by me as I find it's kind of unavoidable considering what I'm asking.
Also, if we do an RP with RL faceclaims I'd prefer someone other than Benedict Cumberbatch for Stephen Strange himself. I'm cautiously optimistic about the movie starring him but I don't really think he's a good fit for how I see the character in my head. Plus I have a weird ball of issues surrounding that particular actor that I'd rather sort out on my own time and not drag into an RP.
I have the very basic beginnings of a plot that we can spin out into something more. I usually do Canon x OC (with romance strictly optional) but if you're not fond of OCs throw the name of a Marvel canon at me and I'll see if I'm interested or able to play them. Most of my experience so far is with MCU so characters appearing there are a good start. If you're the sort that's all about doubling I can return the favor and play a Marvel canon for your OC, most likely in a separate RP but putting them in an RP with the Doctor Strange story is on the table too. I will not do incest, abusive relationships, or anything involving underage characters in relationships with adult characters.
I play all genders and sexualities. I try to post at least one or two paragraphs with each response, though I do vary my post lengths depending on what's going on in the scene. I prefer to play over PM as I'm a very private person. Email is also an option but I don't do IMs or chat clients. I might be convinced to do threads if that's your absolute preference, though. I am in my 20s and ask that any partner I RP with be at least 18. I just feel more comfortable that way... nothing against all you teenagers RPing, of course. I was in those same boots myself. Along those lines, I am willing to do 18+ mature content, but it certainly isn't a requirement. If we go that route I can discuss things related to it in private.
