I get RP stage fright and am terrified to "redebut" in the scene, as it were.
Hey all, I had a false start here several years back and am trying again. Glad to see the site is still around! Seems like everything is shifting to Discord these days and I think I'm just too old for that sort of thing. I'm going on 35, so uh ... hopefully I'm not regarded as a senior citizen here. I'm really banking on the age skewing a little higher here due to the medium? Anyway.

I love angst, yearning, and messy relationships. Jaded and cynical as I may be offline, I will always be a romantic at heart. For that reason, I generally tend toward 1x1 arrangements but I'm not opposed to small groups if the plot is right. I get stressed and lost in larger groups and would like to keep the anxiety to a minimum.

Most of my characters are male, but I'm not opposed to playing other genders. As far as orientation, anything goes.

Favorite genres and settings include: historical (Regency - Edwardian), high fantasy, gothic, noir, Vampire: The Masquerade, and D&D. I might go for the occasional slice of life, just for the nostalgia factor. I was all about some cafe RP back in the day.

Okay, that's all I've got for now. If you've got any questions about preferences or want to know if I'm into something specific, just ask.
Howdy Chumbuddy!!

Sorry, I just returned from a 5-year absence and need to rewrite my own intro but couldn't resist commenting here first. I got dragged down the hololive rabbit hole about a year ago and haven't quite been the same since.
I too forgot to subscribe. Had a major freakout there for a second. I really, really don't know my way around here yet and didn't realize that there are multiple tabs for these threads--that's pretty nifty.

When are you wanting to get this thing kicked off? I'm being slow with my character creation and I don't want to hold anyone up.
@ROADWARRIORDon't worry, I won't pick anything that'll make me miserable. Thanks for the info!
I do believe I have just found my first RP to join ... This week is starting out super hectic for me, but I'd really like to give this a go. I'll try to start working on a character tonight.

By the way, I'm always open to suggestions/requests during character creation. It's a fun challenge for me to fill needed roles--keeps things interesting, you know? Need a long-lost sibling? A nemesis? Just want to see what would happen if x-type person was thrown in the mix? Lemme know and I'll see what I can come up with.
Hi again! I've finished the first version of my bio ... which I will most likely continue to compulsively edit throughout the coming weeks. It has more info on my style and preferences and all that shiny stuff.
There comes a time, though, when you realize that the quality of the post really does matter more than the quantity. Why force yourself to write four paragraphs when two good ones could easily do it? This problem made me quit so many sites because roleplays just got BORING when I felt like so much was required of me. It seems like people value post length more than they do plots or ideas, which just sucks. I'm going back to the days where I just wrote!

I don't mean to alarm you, but I think you might be my spirit animal. You just perfectly summed up my experience over the years. Shame we don't share any fandoms at the moment. My husband is trying to get me into Kill la Kill but I'm stuck on Hunter x Hunter right now. BOI and Undertale are on my "to play" list, so ... maybe I'll see you around. :D
Hey fellow newbie! I'm also a paragraph writer with anxiety so I wanted to give you a shout. If you want to try out a no-pressure 1x1 some time, let me know.
Been playing off and on, here and there, for ... a while. I'm not sure what the average age is around here (or how many of you are comfortable discussing such things) but I'm about to turn 30 and I first ventured into this scene as a teen (yay rhymes). I'm old, bitter, and broken now, but I can type up some whimsy, I tell you what. Or some good old-fashioned angst and dark desires. I'm fairly flexible.

Where was I ... right, the resume. Let's see now: I started off in forums and later had a moderately successful career in a virtual world that shall not be named. I've recently begun to try my hand at D&D over on Roll20 and it's been a blast so far. Still, no matter where I go, I feel myself pulled back to the freedom of the forums. I have broadened my gaming interests quite a bit over the years--the aforementioned oldest of old school, an MMO, and JRPGs have rounded things out nicely--but I miss the freedom and adventure of swapping paragraphs over forums. It's been too long.

So here I am. A grizzled old vet, come back to the fold. Well, I suppose it's technically a new fold, since I'm just now registering on this site. But hey, you get the idea. You're a clever lot (or so my lurking tells me).

I’ll close with a short list covering my basic preferences/style. If you want to know more, just ask! I’m awful at intros, never know if I’m saying too much or too little or covering the wrong ground all together, so …. Yeah. Hi. Play with me.

Jay’s Quick Stats:
- Style: Casual to Advanced
- Genres: Historical, sci-fi, noir, fantasy
- The best romance is complicated
- Action and combat are cool but I'm not as good at writing them out and stuff gets a bit wonky
- I’m most active weekday afternoons and weekends
- 1x1 and small groups work best for me
- I can play either gender and relationships can be any pairing
(for some reason, my guys are usually evil jerks and my girls are always good)
