Everything went to shit in a hand basket pretty goddamned quickly.
This operation wasn't what one would call smooth, it had been sloppy and the fact that they had not encountered a single casualty was a bloody miracle, well it seemed that way.
Giles was keeping an eye on what was occurring below, he hadn't gotten clear fully as of yet he needed a good visual on when to detonate the mines, that time was drawing nearer and nearer now though, Salissa's shield generator finally gave in from the onslaught it had endured, in theory that should have been her overwhelmed and killed in mere moments, however there was a reason why they were all picked by Spectres; they were no ordinary soldiers.
Salissa managed to escape relatively unharmed thanks to the Krogan whom had just beat his way through the ensuing horde that followed her, truly there were some headstrong glory seekers here, or maybe it was just a Krogan being a typical Krogan, losing himself in bloodlust and rage, apparently it was not an easy thing to control, assuming you actually wanted to control it.

As he watched Giles was performing a few potshots here and there, firing into the general vicinity of the horde, his main focus was the comms for when the call for detonation went out.
It quickly became evident what the Krogan was planning though, he was going to shoot the mines, Giles' eyes widened with disbelief, that would likely fracture the explosion, nullifying the purpose of why they were placed - the order they were placed in was to ensure maximum structural damage, so that all of it would collapse and crush the horde, the Krogan was literally mowing his way through the synthetic creatures in order to do it.
"You fool! N..." By the time Giles shouted it was already too late the detonation occurred drowning out his words and indeed everything else in the tunnel.
The chain reaction of the cain mines sent massive ripples of kinetic force outwards through out the tunnel, knocking Giles off his feet and pushing him back a few feet, Cain mines didn't get their namesake for nothing, each one of them packed a significant punch a simultaneous detonation of them only amplifies this.
Each of the further detonations being signified by a pulse, it sent a wave of dust through the old tunnels and blasted past them all like a sandstorm, pieces of debris flew through it at high speeds and caused his kinetic barriers to ripple every time one hit; it being the only thing stopping them from slicing him to ribbons as well as the rest of the team.

Giles tried to compose himself but he was blinded by the thick dust that clouded the battlefield, each haggard breath he took burnt his lungs and airways, causing him to cough violently; his rebreather was in his satchel that now lied somewhere in the thick soup-like mist, every sound was dampened, he seen the flashes of gunfire and flashlights pierce through the darkness, the fighting sounded as if it were happening from miles away, and yet he knew only a few steps would take him to that fight.
Then the order came through the comms unit "Giles! Now!"

As he suspected, not all of the mines went off... "Goddamned Krogan, leave the bloody explosives work to the expert..."
The air began to clear a bit when the sprinkler system went off, ancient yet still operational - as the musk began to clear Giles spat out phlegmy mixture of dust covered blood that made him question just how much shit was now in his respiratory system.
He didn't wait on ceremony however, not even to find his satchel - if those husks got out of the tunnel it was game over.
Inputting the command into his omni-tool Giles took a deep breath through the nose and prepared for the second wave of dust.

A small flash of red light could be seen illuminate out of the crumbling debris, the mines activated and then nought but a second later detonated.
Because the detonation of the mines was staggered and in two phases, the cloud of debris and dust this time was far more lethal, it flung pieces of rock and metal out the size of small boulders, some weighing anywhere from 1kg to 50kg and flying at fast speeds, anyone not in cover would be lucky to come out with nothing more than some broken limbs, something Giles had forgot to anticipate - when his barriers went off from a lucky miss, that would have removed his left arm he got down from his very disadvantageous position, rolling into a piece of small cover.
Everywhere on his body hurt, his clothing was covered in a coat of dust and in places had been eviscerated by shards of debris, cutting into his flesh and leaving behind a pock mark of green blood that oozed out in pulses; he wasn't aware if the second detonation had been a success but he could barely think straight at the moment, his wounds were quite severe, and the small bedrock of debris that had began to cover him didn't help.

After spitting another congealment of phlegm and blood out of his throat he spoke into the comms " A little help here..."
Not... a good start in terms of a mission Giles had concluded, he felt like shit and if he survived he would drink himself to sleep tonight. His situation was not helped by the fact that he could do little more than feebly push some bits of rock and chunks of synthetic body parts of himself whilst he waited for someone to help him.
This was compounded even further when he seen the glowing blue lifeless eyes of husk crawl around the cover he had used earlier; it appeared to be missing an arm and its legs, but it wasn't going to stop there.

"You're. Fucking. Kidding. Me!" With his free foot Gilvert kicked the at the Husks head, every time he did a spike of pain shot through his body, but was he hell being chomped on or something by this shit. The husk didn't like the fact that it just got a boot to its head and screamed hollowly before shifting a bit closer, timing the momentum of its shuffle and his kick the next one gave a satisfying crack as its neck went.

A sigh of relief escaped Giles' lungs, followed by another cough as he relaxed under his bed of rubble.
"Fuck, I thought the godsdamned Reaper war was a struggle, I'm never coming back to this planet after this..."

@PrivateVenturesYeah it was me who said that Ellis is on thin ice :P
Here's mine ^_^

@BlackSam3091I'll post tomorrow buddy.
What the fuck have I missed?
It appears that Phalanx has just become a teddy bear/pimp with all his suitors.... >.>"
Yeah I'm gunna do mine tomorrow, looking forward to seeing them all :3
@Silver FoxAh... I written that after reading everything post-paddy day celebrations, probably not the best idea.
Anyway, I apologise if I came off as petty or childish, that was not my intent I promise you.
@DervishThat... Was not my intent when I stated that... I'm not shallow enough to complain about me not saving the day, I was meaning it from Gilverts perspective.
They're his bombs and he likes to do the blowing up bit, that's all I meant :/
I would have been severely annoyed had everyone blown my Mines up, and when I do my post Giles will have a few choice words for Rykarn >.>"
Nobody blows his stuff up but him; he's gunna make sure people learnt that pretty damn fast.
