Hi everybody. I'm Nightecho, although you can call me Echo for short. I've been RPing for close to 5 years now, but in the past few months I've gotten out of it, due to the fact that the website I used most often was completely shut down. However, now that I'm on this site, I'm looking to get back into it. Anyway, before we get to the important stuff (read: the plots XD), I should tell you a bit about myself. I am an 18 year old female who will, as of the end of next month, officially be a college freshmen. Hence, if responses slow down a bit when we hit that time, please don't be offended. I don't know how busy I'll be getting. However, I will always make time to respond to my RPs at least once a day, or at the very least warn you in advance if I can't get on for some reason, unless an emergency comes up. Also, I'm one of those people who likes to have a ton of RPs going at once, because I can never just focus on one idea. I'm constantly thinking about all different kinds of plots and such. So don't get upset if I'm on but don't post immediately. I go with whichever RP was responded to first, then work my way up to the newer posts, so it could potentially take me a while to get to. Oh, and be warned- when I talk normally, I have a tendency to use lots of smileys. That doesn't mean I can't be serious in an RP- I'm very serious about my RPs. It just means I have a bit of a crazy, quirky personality that comes out when I talk out of character.
So, now that we have the basics out of the way, I suppose I should lay down my ground rules. I'm pretty laid back, so I don't have that many, but the few that I have are hard and set must-haves, so if you don't think you can comply with these, we probably shouldn't be RP partners. I don't think these are all that unreasonable, though. Anyway, these are my rules
Rules:
1. DO NOT, under ANY circumstance, take over my character. Ever. Period. I
have had people do this to me, no joke, and it is the most annoying thing ever.
The only exception to this would be if something outside happened to them. For
example, if your character runs into mine, it is perfectly alright to say that
they were knocked over. It is *not* okay to have them go to a different location.
I've seriously had someone do that before, and it isn't cool. Please don't do
this. If you want my character to do something, let me know your idea, and unless
I have a good reason for not doing it, I will do it myself. Don't just take it
upon yourself to do it for me.
2. Please be prepared to post on a semi-regular basis. At least once a day would be
ideal, but I don't mind if you post every other day or miss a few days. But except
for perhaps a few days missed here and there, I would like at least every other
day. And if you know you will be off for two or more days, I would appreciate it
if you would tell me. I do understand that things come up, so I won't get angry if
you do disappear, even without notice, unless it happens too often.
3. I know I can be bossy sometimes (although I try not to be XD), but this does not
I want to carry the plot on my own. I love throwing in plot twists, but I also
love adjusting to other people's plot twists, so please contribute to the plot.
Also, if you have any plot ideas or want to to make changes to mine, feel free to
suggest it. The best plots are collaborations.
4. Grammar! I'm not exactly a grammar Nazi, and I understand that we will all
misspell words, have typos, and just have bad habits displaying improper grammar,
like my lovely little one word sentence at the beginning of this rule. However, I
would appreciate if these small errors not be excessive. Also, and this is very
important- I don't do chat speak. If you can't be bothered to type your words out
fully, then I can't be bothered to respond to you, plain and simple. Now- if
English isn't your first language, I understand that it may be difficult for you
to meet this expectation. However, I am perfectly understanding of this. IF
ENGLISH IS NOT YOUR FIRST LANGUAGE< LET ME KNOW! I am more than willing to be
patient if this is the case.
5. This is as much an RP preference as a rule, but I feel that it was important
enough to warrant a rule. I do not do 'smiles and grins' RPs. In other words,
everything is *not* just fine. There has to be some kind of problem, even if it
isn't major and earth-shattering. In my opinion, it is the angst that makes RPs
fun, so if you don't want it, then I am not the RP partner for you.
So, now that we're done with all the boring rules, I'd like to tell you a little bit about my RP style. Firstly, my typical post length is what is generally called semi-literate. I will usually write at least a paragraph and usually more, although that can vary a bit based on context. Secondly, I generally play female character. I'm female myself, so it's easier for me. However, I am willing to play a male if the RP calls for it. Thirdly, what is listed below are specific plot ideas I have or concepts I really want to try. However, if none of them suit you, that does not mean we would not be compatible as RP partners. I am open to just about anything, so if you have any ideas you would like to try, feel free to suggest them. Now, without further ado, lets get to my ideas (aka, the part you really care about. Because honestly, we all know that no one came to this thread just to hear me talk XD)
Idea #1:
This one is an idea that has been bouncing around for a while. It takes place in a fantasy type land with different races. I currently have humans, dwarves, trolls, orcs, high elves, wood elves, and shadow elves. Yes I know that's a lot of elves, but there is a reason for it, which I would be happy to tell you about if you're interested in this idea. Anyway, it's a sort of medieval setting with fantasy elements. The basic idea is that most of the different races don't get along, although there are a few weak alliances. However, there are demons that want to destroy all the races. They were locked out of this world by a powerful magic, but that magic is starting to fail and the demons are starting to get through. A group of people have to get together and either find a way to repair the magic or create a new way to contain the demons. (For anyone who has read The Elfstones of Shannara, this should sound familiar, since it is *loosely* based on the book. Anyone who has gets mega brownie points if they've read any of the books in that series. It's definitely underrated...) So yeah, that's what I have, although I'm definitely open to suggestions. Knowing the book I mentioned earlier is not required. (No one is turning into a tree, though. No. Just no. That was just seriously weird right there. And if you understand what I'm talking about, you're awesome.)
Idea #2:
Percy Jackson type RP. Those two series are some of my favorite books, so I'd like to do an RP based on them, preferably with ocs rather than cannon characters. Also, on that note, some of the stuff in the Heroes of Olympus series got a bit weird, so I would *prefer* if things like them not show up. If you have read the series I would be perfectly happy to let you know which parts I'm talking about. If you haven't, you don't have to worry about that, so I won't put them here and spoil the series for you. Anyway, we can either do a plot based on what happened in the books or we could come up with one on our own.
Anyway, those are the specific ideas I have now. I'll update it periodically, and I'm always open to suggestions. Also, just because I've gotten someone for a suggestion doesn't mean you can't ask to do that one. I'm more than willing to do multiples of each plot. Anyway, if you're interested in RPing with me, either pm me or post a response here. Both will get you a reply relatively quickly.
