They say it's about the journey, not the destination. This is true of many things. Pizza delivery is not one of them.

TFW you know what you want to happen but the words aren't cooperating. Why is plot suddenly so much harder to write?

Bio

I am an adult, though I don't usually act like it. I'm a voracious reader, and not overly picky about books. I am artistic in a variety of areas, including music, drawing, writing, and sculpting. I have a minor obsession with dragons, and love the color violet. Fantasy is my preferred genre, be it past, future, urban...as long as it has a fantasy flavor to it. I also like scifi, mystery, and some horror. I am crazy, and I like tormenting my characters. But I don't bite...much. ^.~

@Kessir Tarkin a good...scorning? Like...the captain will be scornful of our lack of superhuman speed and strength, or...?
@choraki Actually, since 50 shades is Twilight bondage-done-wrong fanfic...
and since it's impressively terrible

There are now some things that are not actually better than twilight.

@Kessir Tarkin OH THAT'S RIGHT. Your char might actually do it! Hahaaa~

Although we weren't actually told to race, and I had thought, initially, it was run as a group -- so we'd all have the same time. *shrugs* I reconsidered that assessment though. ^.^;;
@ayzrules Izkry: C'mon, Maria, you can run faster than that! *cheers her on*
@MegaOscarPwn A sprint will not beat a steady pace in a six mile run. He does not have superhuman endurance, and muscles grow tired, no matter how much oxygen they get.

Bel will laugh internally when she passes him heading up on her way back down. =P
@ONL "No wait it was Oscar."
*cracks up* <3
@Oak7ree Yeah, but were you competing against an olypian athlete? They're a different tier, and are trained to push their bodies to the very limit of human capability. I've only found competition fun for the sake of competition when there's a chance, even a small one, of winning, and when the winner isn't predetermined. For example, I'd have fun running the mile at school even though I never came close to winning because I was challenging myself. I'd have fun in shorter races because of that and I might even win (relays were really fun).
There wasn't even a prize. But if someone had said "fastest guy gets the prize...but you also have to beat the olympic record" I would have been annoyed. Why offer a prize if there's no chance for getting it? *shrug* Just a mindset thing, I guess.
@Oak7ree ...well I guess an impossible prize might motivate some.

Anyhow, if he has combat pins I'll modify my post...in the morning. X.x
@Oak7ree not interested in his service record, jsut the things pinned to his shirt. I am not sure Bel would ahve had access to his records.

If he has and wears a badge/whatever taht indicates he's seen combat, I should change my post a little. But given that he's been in the army only a max of two years -- and closer to one, given he enlisted in 1940 and it is spring of 1942, and this doesn't account for /when/ in 1940 he enlisted, plus training, plus officer training, plus the program that gave him his powers, plus the months of training us? I'm not sure he had much time to do any actual combat things.

Also that's funny. A record of 25 minutes, which is likely around the level of Olympic athletes...and then a bunch of folks who are /not/ physically enhanced. Odds of breaking it?

Bel; Yeah, no, that's not happening.

Izkry: ...aside from the fact that superhuman speed, strength, and endurance can't be removed, using powers for the run is rather cheating, no? o.o

Bel: *slight nod*

That said she probably has...let's see, six miles, average run time for a mile something like 7-9 minutes for a middle schooler (hey, it's what I remember!), so that's 42-54 minutes, add in that she's got longer legs and is in better shape than most of them, take away that she has gear and a slope...her time is probably in the 40-50 minute range. ^.^
@MegaOscarPwn All I know is what he did, not his name. Honestly, I don't know a LOT of artists' names. Or the names of the songs. But I know the tunes. ^.^;;
