His clear blue eyes often have a twinkle in them, sparkling with hidden mischief. His mouth is usually turned in a crooked grin, with his usually unruly hair windswept, or flattened by the presence of a hat. Standing at 5’11” with a lean, yet muscular build, Brenden isn’t necessarily intimidating, but he radiates confidence. Although he usually doesn’t seem to fit the part of the principal of an elite school, he can present himself formally when need be. Age 34 How long has Brenden been at Caelbury Academy? This is his first year, actually. --- --- Social Class Middle Class Social Class Explanation High class now, formerly middle class. Position Principal Personality ”Maturity is knowing when to be immature.” He's just a man who seems to have found the key to happiness, the secret of the universe, and the meaning of life. Content wouldn't be the best word to describe him, but in a way it fits the way he is perceived as. The everlasting smile upon his face reflects happiness, a zeal for life, and zest for adventure. It seems that everything in the world has been handed to him, that the yellow brick road leads to a place of eternal prosperity, because nothing can bring him down. It's easy to think that, isn't it? Brenden Aldrin, with that mischievous glint in his eyes, the spontaneous actions... He appears to live life to the fullest, with as much excitement as possible. That casual, carefree spirit and the devil-may-care attitude, there's just some sort of reckless abandon that appeals to everyone. After all, he's the life of the party. He's the one who always picks dare in Truth-or-Dare, and is the type to jump into the pool first with all of his clothes still on. It's easy to look at him so shallowly, like he's some kind of brainless idiot, especially at parties. He's not just a spontaneous person. He is way more than that. One of his more notable traits is his strong sense of justice. He sees the world in black and white, and despite the fact that there are many complicated areas of gray, Brenden is adept at separating them. He doesn't necessarily judge, he just is able to see multiple sides of a situation and determine the proper classification. Although he isn't a confrontational person, he is a person who won't stand injustice, and won't hesitate to step in to defend someone. More than once, it has gotten him into trouble. Oh well. Competitive to the max, Brenden loves testing himself to his limits. He constantly strives to better himself by beating his own goals, and of course, competing against other people. Playing sports, getting into a heated argument, even if it's something as silly as 'who can fold laundry faster?'; they're all up his alley. Of course, he loves winning. Who doesn't? He's also a gracious loser... Most of the time, anyway. He has been known to 'jokingly' sulk when he loses. Still, despite his competitive nature, he doesn't consider himself above anyone. He can be quite a good friend, always willing to lend a helping hand to any friend in need. He knows when people need to cry, and when people need to laugh. It may not seem like it all the time, but Brenden is sensitive and empathetic at heart. Even with his fun-loving ways, Brenden isn't content. Far from it. He's bored. Oh, he's so, so bored. Life is dull. Friends, work, leisure time... Life in general. It's so, so dull. As the days pass, and as he gets older, Brenden can't get rid of the nagging feeling that something is missing. All of the crazy antics, all of the laughs and fun... They're not necessarily fake--he really does have fun, but they're not completely genuine either. All of those crazy actions, all of the boisterous laughter... It's all an attempt to not be bored. Boring, boring, boring... Something--or perhaps even the lack of something--is preventing him from truly appreciating the world, from really letting go. When was the last time he was truly satisfied with life? With his friends? With his career? Even though he's a fairly simplistic man, Brenden struggles. Nothing is worth his time, nothing. Perhaps he's a more arrogant person than he realizes, seeing himself above the mundane life he leads. The world seems lackluster to him, and it's just not worth it. His life, while not a lie, isn't as shining as he leads everyone to believe it is. --- --- History Strictly middle class, the world of the upper class seemed like a fantasy to the commoner, Brenden Aldrin. As a child, he would often come home with bumps and bruises, due to him getting into fights with bullies to protect the victims. He lived a fairly normal life. He got good grades in high school, he had a few friends, played a fair amount of sports, and in general, had fun. Then one day, his high school principal retired, and got replaced by Mr. Aiken. Mr. Aiken was the meanest, rudest, most pompous man Brenden had ever met. Mr. Aiken frowned upon the word “fun”, and made it his life goal to force students to become as boring as he was, apparently. Naturally, Brenden wouldn’t stand for that, so obviously, Mr. Aiken despised Brenden. The new principal started cancelling school dances, fun activities, and yelled at any sign of laughter. Brenden rebelled, rebelled, and rebelled. But he was clever, he never did anything drastic enough to actually get into legitimate trouble, something that probably infuriated Mr. Aiken. On his last day of school, Brenden was seen flipping Mr. Aiken off as he walked out. He was determined to make sure something like this never happened again, so he decided to become a principal--a fun one. An awesome one, so that students will want to come to school, because it’ll be fun! After years of studying, he went back to his old high school, and knocked Mr. Aiken off of his perch, becoming the principal of his old school. He spent a couple of years there, enjoying himself, and marveling at the fact that he was the boss of his old teachers now. It wasn't enough though. After overcoming the initial wave of excitement of high school and college, he began to find boredom more intense than before. Whatever he was doing right now, it wasn't fulfilling. So it was like some sort of miracle that he got his new job offer: Principal of Caelbury Academy. So, how did someone like Brenden Aldrin become the principal of Caelbury Academy? Well... His high school sweetheart, Emily, was the one who did the social ladder climbing. While Brenden was slaving away at college, she found success as a fashion designer, having snagged the chance to work under a relatively unknown designer who eventually became the fashion designer that all of the celebrities knew about. Emily found fame as well. Despite the completely different worlds, Brenden and Emily managed to keep their relationship strong, and as Emily exited middle class and entered the upper class, Brenden was right there next to her. To show his support for her, Brenden went to all of the parties that she had to go to, and met all of the high class people, even becoming friends with a few of them. Eventually, Emily and Brenden realized that they wanted completely different things in life, breaking up to pursue their dreams. And for Brenden, it was becoming a principal. So he did. One of his friends happened to be on the school board for Caelbury Academy, and so he reached out to Brenden when they needed a new principal. After much deliberation, Brenden made the decision to leave his former high school to run the elite Caelbury Academy. Maybe this time, he'd find something worthwhile. --- --- Miscellaneous --He's definitely a dog person. Cats are adorable, but he doesn't trust them. --He has a secret love for crepes. --Brenden is still getting used to high class food. It's good, but why do people eat snails again? --He played sports in high school and college including, but not limited to basketball, football, and soccer. ---
