Where was it? This world was not a world, this fabric was frayed at the edge. This was not even the inside of a world, this was the inside of a glimmering fragment of crystal adrift in a void of absolute unending dark. This "was" just as it "was not." It should not exist. The law of the world should prohibit this. The...wait, but that can't be right. "Enkidu." This didn't have to follow the rules, it existed under its own. Analyze. Failed. Analyze. Failed. Analyze. A square neither black nor white, painted outside the borders of a chessboard. Isolation. Mistake. It didn't make sense. It couldn't make sense. Calls itself a kakera, fragment, but it felt just like...no, no, that couldn't be right, and yet it was. This "reality," this "fragment," it was composed out of... "Enkidu." Madness was washed away in an instant. The Berserker had become frighteningly, utterly sane. "Enkidu." For the briefest of moments it attempted to analyze the being that had placed it, only to fail. This...this existence was transcendentally Other like nothing else. It needed more time. But...no, no, something was wrong. That noise... "Enkidu." What was that noise? "Come, try and remember." ...ah, that's right. "What form did you have?" That was its...that was my name. "How had I forgotten?" Try again, analyze the being that had placed him off of this board. Regardless of where it was in the Seven Heavens, there was nothing this ability could fail to understand- ...impossible. This existence...this thing was impossible as an existence. This thing was a monster. From attempting to understand the specter of if that was left in this floating void, it understood that much. And for the first time, the being that had fought the King of Heroes to his only standstill, who had become the ultimate weapon across all time and space, felt utter, paralyzing fear. What was it? How was it? The King owned "infinity," the weapon could become "infinity," but this being by virtue of its mere existence had reached the status of "infinity which exceeds infinity." Greater than mud, greater than gods, greater than itself as an impossible being which did not fit in with the world. "Fit in with the world..." A hand moves along the chessboard, bringing pieces on and off. The queen which moves wherever it likes falls. The King falls. The knights and bishops fall to the hand. An external imposition which does not "fit," but meshes with the world and asserts an absolute authority. That couldn't, and yet... And so, left adrift in a place off of the game board, the weapon who had gained a soul attempted to make sense of this impossibility. If nothing else, it at least had some peace with which to think..
