"Thanks," she said coolly, dropping the snacks by her bag. "Well, if she wants you to keep your distance for the night, I have to go along with that. She's jumpy enough as it is," she stated flatly, only a slight twitch of the corner of her lips indicating she was teasing; she wasn't the best at jokes. After a moment she added, "We'll figure out what we're doing tonight, though...Moving toward the countryside is a smart idea and it would be safer with three people--especially if what you said about the horde is true." She glanced to Steph, partly apologetic but mostly reassuring. "But yeah--tonight, we want our space."
