GravityFlux: The streams are partial ocean current like streams of shortened space. There is in-system interplanetary transit and stream based interstellar transit. Then there are true personal alcubierre drives that can shorten space up outside of the streams, but take up so much power, it requires multiple jumps, and time between those jumps to recharge
